well hello there, what are you tanasuga headcanons? i'm here to jump on that ship lol

Well, that’s the question! It’s really hard for me to come up with headcanons, to be honest. How people usually write headcanons, it feels more like ultra-short fluffy fics or fic ideas, and my ideas end up as either comics or arts. So first of all… *gestures at own tanasuga art* …check the comics out. Please do jump in if you find it to your liking! 8′)

As for headcanons, the way I usually do them, it’s these vague short ideas that often include other people and other people’s reaction to a couple. Let’s see if I’d manage to come up with anything that’s not already stored in the comic ideas corner:

Suga thinks Tanaka is cute, period. Truly it could take a person some time to see it, but Suga managed and can’t unsee, so now he’s doomed to die inside every time Tanaka unknowingly does something silly or endearing;

Helping Hinata and Kageyama got them closer to each other. Unexpectedly becoming some kind of a godfathers to a pair of dense 1st years can do that to people. Also Tanaka’s doting on Hinata, Suga - on Kageyama, and they see it in each other and respect that in a kind of a “I relate to that” way;

Tanaka is the softest boyfriend. The Softest ™. All the gentle embraces and tiny kisses, holding hands, soft hair pats, warm hugs from behind with his chin on Suga’s shoulder… damn, I gotta draw that. 8P Also, Tanaka is a good cook, you can’t change my mind;

For all his loudness and shirt-off-attitude, Tanaka is the shy one, and Suga is the shameless (the reason for this one is probably that I’d love to see Tanaka wrecked >8));

Daichi shoud’ve seen that coming, them getting together, he admists he’s been willingly oblivious, because he hates dealing with relationship stuff inside the team, even if it’s unavoidable at times. They may look like an unexpected pair, but Daichi sees the same stubbornes, loyalty and fire Tanaka brings to court every time he refuses to be broken by bad plays in Suga, who stayed with the team despite losing his regular position and came up with tactics and supportive advises for his peers that let Karasuno become a better team and keep winning.

That’s the best I can do! 8′) Check out the general #tanasuga #sugatana tags tho, there are a few headcanon posts that do it way better than myself. I can only offer you more comics in the mean time lmao.

With all the weeks that are happening on Twitter, are you gonna make a tanasuga week?

Ah, TanaSuga week sounds like a dream, honestly. ;u; But there are a few reasons why I won’t be making one, or at least not for a long while:

- I’m reeeeeaaally bad at organizing stuff myself and I have 0 experience in being a fan event mod. I mean I could try, but it’d probably take me a lot of time researching stuff and gathering my courage; - I’ve been in a slight “no energy to art”/soft artblock for a few weeks now (which is probably obvious by the lack of new art lol); - There are truly a lot, A LOT of fanweeks already happening and doing another one this summer, even in September imo is too soon. Tanasuga is a rare pair and, like, all ppl I know who could be possibly interested in participating in tanasuga week have other OTPs they like more that also have fanweeks happening. Obviously there are ppl out there who’d participate anyway, but I think tanasuga week has better chances to inspire people to make content for it if ppl are not “tired” from other events. Basically, should let ppl rest after Hot HQ Fan Weeks Summer 2020 lmao and maybe organize it in October or even in winter.

Basically, I’m too exhausted atm to draw anything let alone organize an event. But gosh do I wish there was a TanaSuga week... ;o; ♥♥♥ Probably won’t manage to draw a lot for it if it was happening now but I’d be glad to know some other fellow fans and stuff! Still would be super-excited!! ♥ Not implying I want someone to make it for me, I live by the “If you want it to exist do it yourself” moto, so eventually I’d probably end up organizing something like that if noone would. But sadly, not right now. OTL

I'm still thinking about your royalty au, can you give us more details please

I thought about this thing a lot at one point, I have the kingdoms’ names/heraldics/colors and a number of magic users figured out (lol), but I am not gonna go into every little detail. So here is what probably would be my one and only complete write up of the TanaSuga Royalty AU + Arranged Marriage AU + Fantasy AU idea, because god knows I do not have enough mental or artistic powers to bring this thing to life in any other capacity. OKAY, HERE WE GO.

A little TLDR on the basic politics of this: Karasuno is a union of 6 small Kingdoms +/- some tiny independent areas (think one-two city autonomy). Hinata is a young heir of one of those kingdoms, learning to soon become a king. While he’s learning, he has support of his advisers from kingdom’s oldest noble families - Suga (court mage) and Daichi (war adviser/general). (Asahi is here too as Hinata’s bodyguard haha.) Tanaka on the other hand is a heir of one of the micro-kingdoms - basically a huge fortress on a mountain + a couple of villages. His ppl rarely leave the fortress, mostly to trade and travel and work as swords for hire.

BUT BAD TIMES ARE COMING (war, or desease or mb undead from another world lmao, I didn’t decide tbh), so to protect their ppl Saeko (CEO of the fortress at the time) seeks alliance with Hinata’s kingdom. She sends Tanaka to meet up with Hinata’s ppl, and Hinata sends Daichi, because they heard things are pretty rough out there, and Daichi’s their best and a great negotiator. So some stuff happens, they meet up, Daichi and Tanaka has to fight back to back, and Daichi’s like “..wow, okay, these wariors are really good at fighting, and this guy is really strong”. Tanaka and Daichi go back to fortress to talk things over with Saeko. [cheery montage of Daichi traveling with Tanaka for a short while, getting to know him and his friends/wariors (Noya is one of them obv), arriving to fortress, seeing simple life there, starting to like them all and realise they are good ppl]. So Daichi’s like “OKAY, we need to bring you in the union and fast, and show our allies this is serious. The fastest way to go about it would be political marriage.“ And there’s pause because it is still implied that woman should be married off, so it should be Saeko. But Tanaka hates traditions like that and knows he’s no match to Saeko in ruling if he stays in the fortress, so he volunteers himself instead. Daichi has an absolute non reactions and agrees instantly, surprising everyone.

So the deal is made. Tanaka and a group of some of their best wariors will come to Hinata’s kingdom to protect the young heir and then be sent off to the borders, where some trouble is brewing, to help deal with it. In exchange the fortress would recieve recources they need, and get support from the court mages. After a while, depending on how Tanaka and his ppl do with their tasks, they could even be brought into the Karasuno union. They prepare and take off.

When they arrive, Daichi gathers a meeting with Suga, Hinata and Asahi. He tells them about the deal, and while it’s pretty good, there’s a question of who would be married to Tanaka. Suga’s going in the expanded brain mode trying to remember all the daughters in the noble families who are of needed age, noble enough, close enough to the court AND can do magic (all Saeko’s terms), when Daichi stops him. “Suga, it should be you.”  They all stop for a moment, but apparently Daichi completely thought it through. Almost same age, less noble only to a royal family, and a mage (maybe not the strongest out there, but still exceptional in some ways), Suga fit perfectly. Marriying Suga also allowed Tanaka and his ppl to live in the castle for a while, since Suga lives there (for royal work), get to know Hinata and royal staff, and show everyone they are not just some hired guards, etc.

And Suga is speechless for a moment because: a) he didn’t plan to marry anyone anytime soon, especially not some random mountain warrior, even for strictly political reasons b) he didn’t expect the idea to come from his childhood friend who he is secretly in love with currently (haAHA!). In the end (after Daichi going like “I swear this guy is okay, he’s seeking political aliance so he won’t bother you too much with the fiance duties stuff, and they would be gone in a few months, guarding the borders, so you could just go back to how it was”), Suga very reluctantly agrees. He meets Tanaka the next day, and then three days later Hinata seals their union as a to-be married couple in a very lowkey and small ceremony.

Suga doesn’t really know what to think of Tanaka at first. He sees him flailing (and sometimes failing) at court etiquette, learn his way aroung the castle, make friends with Suga’s friends and eagerly getting to know Suga himself when he lets him (not much at first, - Suga’s pretty cold and aloof with him, keeping his distance). One thing is clear though - Daichi was completely wrong assuming Tanaka wouldn’t be into any “fiance duties” stuff, since he thought Tanaka’s not happy to be married to some random noble dude.

And Tanaka sincerely was of the same mind, but here’s is the catch - he just can’t let go of the fact he has a fiance now. Despite whatever he planned, despite all the logic - he feels overwhelming sense of duty towards Suga. He is Tanaka’s fiance now, and that means Tanaka would protect him with his life and would care for him in sickness, listen to any wish he has and grant it. Which sure sounds romantic and true in Tanaka’s head, but in reality becomes him trying his best to make Suga happy in any way he can, be that opening doors for him, little gifts and flowers, and other simple (or not lol) courtesies.

So Tanaka doesn’t leave it alone at all, it’s the opposite - he really mostly acts like an annoying admirer towards Suga, though they are already engaged. And Suga expects, wants himself to be annoyed, but most of the time he’s amused despite himself, and later - endeared by the little things. The truth is, because of his secret devotion to Daichi, Suga never had any lovers, and quickly got rid of any admirers in past years. He probably could ask Tanaka to stop, he knows Tanaka would listen instantly, Suga’s wish is his command. But Suga doesn’t want to. For the first time he’s the center of someone’s attention, and he unexpectedly likes it, even though it’s not Daichi.

So days go by, they get to know each other better, and for a moment, though not being close, they seem to enjoy each other’s company. (art by @haranacchi​)

A lot of random, sometimes silly stuff comes and goes for a bit - court ceremonies they need to attend to together (mb some wedding/funerals??), visiting Suga’s estate, meeting Suga’s noble family (mother, father and younger brother + servants that are more like a family at that point), Suga getting to know Tanaka’s people, watching them train and spar each other, seeing Tanaka without a shirt... *COUGH* ANYWAY. Meanwhile they both sloooowly develop sincere romantic feelings for each other.

Suga slowly realizes he’s starting to like Tanaka. But Tanaka only does the things he does because of duty. The marriage wasn’t their choice, and Tanaka madly blushes and loses himself around Kiyoko. Surely... surely if he could actually choose, he would choose her instead of Suga.  @haranacchi​ did a little comic below, illustrating one of the moments that comes from Suga’s doubt (some plot details are off from what I’m telling in this post, but it’s completely on me - I never talked about this AU in such details, so they based the comic on their own understanding of it, which is still pretty close plotwise and absolutely on point emotions-wise! ♥♥♥)

And Tanaka, after a while, after getting to know Suga, Kyioko, Asahi and Daichi, after meeting Suga’s family, after watching Suga being around Daichi and his other old friends, figures out Suga’s feelings for Daichi. For the first time in months he remembers that this whole thing was supposed to be strictly political in nature. Remembers how cold Suga was at the start. He tries to discard those thoughts, but then Suga brings up calling off the marriage and figuring something else out, if he wants to, and Tanaka almost breaks. Suddenly, it hurts very much. Tanaka doesn’t want to call it off, he likes Suga, even more than he realised, but what use it is that he’s ready to give up his life for someone, who would never be his, who loves someone else.

They get into an argument which is mostly a big miscomunication and a lot of assumptions of other’s feelings from each side, and get cold to each other for a while. AND THEN SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS lmao, didn’t figure out what exactly. But yeah, it’s an event in which they have to fight to protect Hinata, which ends up mostly them protecting each other instead, and they get very badly hurt - Tanaka, of cource, took an awful hit meant for Suga, and Suga wiped out their foes in a flash of pure rage/madness, and then put all his magic into not letting his idiot beloved fiance die on him, exhausting himself to deadly levels in the process. They get rescued and healed, and when they come to themselves then they both decide pretty much at the same time that they are not going to lose each other. They seek each other to talk, and confess to everything - their fears and doubts and assumptions, clearing all up and carefully establishing their mutual feelings.

Tanaka can’t wait for the marriage so he could finally kiss Suga (Suga, grinning like a devil, offers to kiss him right there, Tanaka refuses, flustered, citing proper court traditions for fiancee interactions. Suga just laughs and hugs him tighter). Suga is not worried about the marriage anymore, but for what comes after. Tanaka and his people would leave to guard the borders, as promissed, and he won’t see the person he loves for a long while. And he can’t just leave, he can’t stop supporting Hinata.

In the end, after the marriage and celebrations, and anything else that comes after, one very early morning Tanaka and his people are preparing to leave. Tanaka’s waiting for Suga to see him off, preparing a romantic speach in his mind and all, but instead sees Suga and Asahi coming over in full travel gear, weapons and horses ready. They are coming with them. Apparently, Hinata felt strong enough to let his advisers go. Suga, Asahi and Daichi were free to do whatever they wanted. So of cource Suga would come with Tanaka. No way he’s gonna let him fight without him watching his back and healing his wounds. AND THEN THEY BECOME A LEGENDARY POWER COUPLE OF KINGDOM HEROES!!

I made this AU with a single purpose of projecting ALL the fantasy/royalty tropes I like/find into tanasuga, tbh, so it’s kinda... overly massive and complicated, but so are proper fantasy stories I guess. Anyway, no way I’m ever drawing all that into arts, not mentioning comic. It’s super hard for me to draw fantasy clothes and weapons, I am not doing it sadly lmao, mb comission some more art of it instead. AT LEAST NOW I HAVE THIS POST, honestly thank you anon, it would’ve stayed in my head forever if not for your ask.
