theres alot of fics im either writing or planning to write

shanes get hurt's next chapter keeps feeling overwhelming, so im writing a long one-shot next to it. and i genuinely think this one will be done before shanes get hurt.

The whole point of being a writer/part of fandom in general is COMMUNITY.

Like we're all part of a larger community and that means showing up for people even if its not your thing, even if its not your ship/fandom but someone you follow/are friends with made with care and love.

So yeah it's not my circus (fandom) but thats my monkey (mutual/friend/someone I'm choosing to follow for whatever reasons)

it's actually confuzzling me rn, what that average slugterran knows.

Eli knew the deep caverns, but not dark bane specifically, or that dark water exists. Kord talks about dark water like it's something trolls have stories about, but not much experience with. and the Shane's have a drop for the chasm that leads to the portal from what lies beneath, which feels overkill in terms of hiding their stuff. Unless:

maybe they know of the deep caverns, but it's more of a legend that's considered probably true to people, like dark water. Like they know there's a hell down there, but till...recent history...no one went down there, so who knows what was down there? And the Shane's were fine with that very shallow understanding.

this assumption is also helped by the common misconception of the shadow clan. Slugterra society's view of them is based on legend, even though they are easier to see, and definitely believed to be real. Maybe slugterrans know it very basically as "the evil ppl in hell and the evil shadow clan fought like a trillion years ago, ooo scary", and only a few experts know the truth (blakk reading the sacred texts possibly depicting this history comes to mind).

...I'm sure I'm missing a line in some early episode that clears things up, but the show actually does a decent job of giving us the smallest possible clues ever and keeping this fandom alive on 40% "WAIT I JUST REALIZED" moments, so I'd love to hear any scenes you all remember that can help this discussion

Why did it take 4 rewatches of s1 to realize Eli says "if blakk has buisness w the deep caverns we don't know what else can can do" at the end of the deadweed episode?

meaning, will ACTUALLY told him about the deep caverns?!?!? And knew the whole time?!?

unironically? Avatar the last airbender. instead of slugs channeling powers, it would be humans, who can only do the core 4 of the elementals, and do not have the chi necessary for the energy elementals power (though the more powerful benders can utilize some of it). eli's family are non-benders, hence them mainly being heroes in the underground. Interesting creatures live above and below the ground. Yang could have been a fire bender, hence the origins of slug-fu. maybe both the shanes and the yangs have had the avatar in their family at some point, and their lasting legacy is why they became the protectors. shanes have to stop the 2 worlds from meeting, and from the people of slugterra learning how to bend, since the magic of slugterra elevates the bending power, and people would get hurt from bad actors, or people trying to learn and hurting themselves. And a plot could be that some air nomads escaped the genocide into slugterra discreetly, or that during the 100 years, the shanes have had to convince MANY refugees to not practice bending in from of the slugterran natives, or damn what if the fire nation found slugterra and attacked? oooo, and what if as part of avatar training, the avatar and trusted advisors alone know of the shane's mission, so aang meets shanes from 100 years ago but dont learn where the entrance is, and due to 100 years of war the shane family has dwindled to will and young eli, and eli as a non-bender helps out in the war against Ozai, and then in return a few years later aang helps eli when he's the only one left and keeps watch of the surface for him, and even goes down to slugterra for the s2 finale, or defeating YET ANOTHER emperor, or teaching junjie to fire bend sometimes, and maybe tad could be sent back up to help a sligtly older aang instead of fall into the deep caverns, im thinking too hard about this-

If you wanted to do a crossover with slugterra what show would you do? For me personally it’s storm hawks ( obviously) and the other one is Ninjago ( because of the elements and the ninjas)

Okay- yeah crossover between SH and Ninjago would be fun, I actually remember reading a Danny Phantom and Slugterra Cossover fic(it was short lived but cool concepts-)

but if there was like, one thing, I would pick for my own crossover, it would be Martin Mystery

the vibe of that show just fits, and because Martin Mystery is canonically in the Totally Spies universe(and by proxy The Amazing Spiez) that means my girls, kids, and mystery solving team can find themselves down in Slugterra as well, trying to stop a supervillain along side the Shane Gang from trying to take over/exploit the 99 Caverns

Fun fact: my friend thought cave trolls didn't exist in the eastern caverns for 6 episodes because she thought Hamengku was a HUMAN because he wasn't the RIGHT SHADE OF BLUE. I love Slugterra.

Also I HC that Vance and Mario have both wanted to deck Will Shane for nearly a decade since, as popular figures they've always wanted to get in touch and professionally collaborate (Will on the Bravado show and Vance in competitive racing) and Will being shady never responded so they both already hold a grudge over that.

like seriously, they're both the right ages! They could have made their OWN Shane gang, Will and Tom and Mario and Vance!!! Mario and Vance being a decade or 2 younger, but still super useful!

Till Dana gets a new wardrobe, she's sharing cloth with Trixie, and she may or may not steal a shirt or two from Eli

Eli and Dana develop a sibling dynamic

both their dads where good friend's once upon a time, and with them dead/presumed missing, they bond over that and some other stuff

Dana help's Trixie with editing the Slugisodes

Kord is fascinated by the Short Distance Teleporter Dana had been using, but she keeps that thing out of everyone's reach

because Dana is stuck at the Hideout more often then naught, her only sources of entertainment are, the TV, SlugNet and Pronto

being (fake) dead sucks :(

This is going to be a controversial take, but Eli tells Dana about the Surface.

'The Gentleman & The Thief' takes place after 'A Distant Shore' which is the ep where the rest of the Gang learns the truth that the Surface is real, and I'm pretty steadfast in anyone who joins the gang after not being told, as seen in the Gentleman and Gerhard HC's,

but Dana is the daughter of Tom Por, and Will leaving for the Surface(and Will's dealing with the Shadow Clan) is what caused the rift to form between them. and Eli dose not want to lie to Dana, and dose not want what happened to their fathers to happen to him an Dana.

So Eli tells Dana, and tells her as much as he knows,

Dana is touched that Eli is trusting her with this information, that he trusts her this much despite everything

Trixie and Dana have girl time

goes as well as you would expect

brotherly affection for Eli be damned, Dana will punch, Will Shane

Pronto makes Dana a tomb stone

she's actually really sentimental about it (the tomb stone i mean)

Dana becomes like, the stealth expert of the Gang

{Mario}

Mario would join some time after he's offered the position on the team

like a week-month later

Like however long it takes for 'The New Kid parts 1 & 2' to be done and over

Eli gains yet another Big Brother

Mario will physically get into a fight with Twist when he's seen again

Pizza night every Sunday, with home made Pizza

All reasoning be damned, Mario will deck Will Shane

Kord and Mario bond over blaster mods, and slug gear

Trixie enjoys making compilations of the Gangs best shots, and Mario is surprisingly good at video making, so he's constantly helping out in editing the compilations, and even cross posting on his own SlugNet acc

Pronto and Kord get a start of their betting with Eli and Mario way before Junjie happens

during 'A Distant Shor' Mario, just like everyone else is annoyed at Gar, and is telling Eli to leave the mad man alone because nothing good comes from chasseing fairy tails

and just like the others Mario is pissed Eli is not trusting them, and acting so, weirder than normal

then the reveal happens and he is gobsmaked

"I-its real??? The Burning World is REAL?! OH SHADOWS- Th-this is-"

Mario just hug's Eli because, kid just went through so much shit, and destroyed his grate uncle's journal, the one thing that probably had all the answers to all the questions Eli had, just to keep the secret, and them safe-

Mario makes Eli's fave Pizza that night

{Vance}

"I'm a Racer not a Slinger"

*Is given a baster*

*Becomes cowboy*

turns out, giving up the super rare slug prize you where contractually obligated to hand over is a no-no

Sucks as Slug Slinging and requires so many aids to help him shoot good

Vance teaches the Gang a bunch of cool Mecha tricks

Vance makes it a point to teach everyone to ride each others Mecha Beasts, just in case they end up having to switch rides, or commandeer a dif Mecha

he used to do sponsored shows/races were he had to ride different models, and it's not all the same

When they get the Motorbike upgrades Vance is salivating at the mouth

Trixie takes more of an interest in Mecha tricks as compared to the guys

Kord and Vance bond over Mecha's gushing over every new model and mod ever made

Eli get's to help them with maintenance

[he's not allowed to do anything other than tighten bolts, last time they gave him something important to do, Fernando exploded]

Pronto and Vance get into an argument about Fernando

"YOU NEED A NEW MECHA MOLE!"

"FERNANDO HAS SERVED PRONTO LOYALY FOR YEARS!"

they learn to 'agree to disagree' and leave it at that.

Much like the rest of the Gang during 'A Distant Shore' Vance is not a fan of Gar

Gar is like an obsessive fan, and Vance hates those kinds of fans

is very concerned about Eli and how weird he's acting in 'A Distant Shore'

At that point in time, Eli has made a name for himself as the Shane so Vance can't help but think Eli is letting the pressure get to him and is making some bad calls, similarly to the one's Vance made early in his career as a racer.

When the truth comes out about the Burning World being real, he can't help but think about how much of a PR nightmare Eli's actions no matter how well indented, were.

He is 100% running damage control and debunking and all of Gar's claims on the SlugNet after the fact or so help him-

He dose ask about the transportation Top Side though
