Help share the plea of a transgender Sudanese woman living in a refugee camp!

hi all, i'm sure those of you following have been seeing me make various posts about @muhshinmagala1tranz 's situation and how it changes as time passes. since the situation continues to evolve, i wanted to lay a baseline and just explain to the best of my ability the group's broader struggles. this post may be marked as mature, as the last big post was, so please help if you can by giving this a reblog before staff decides to destroy the traction this post may get.

i hope illustrating these issues will perhaps persuade those reading to give a reblog. before i go any further, i will link the gofundme and magala's site that my brother and i helped make:

LGBT Sudanese refugees desperately need our help with receiving basic necessities.

so, as many of you may know, i have been talking with magala for several months now, and things have been terrible for her and her group. their larger group is much bigger, but she and her lgbt siblings make up about 34 people now. resources like food, water, mattresses, pads, soap, mosquito nets, and so on are tight, and jobs are hard to come by due to the violent descrimination they face in living their lives as transgender and gay people, because bigots won't hire them. magala once asked me if i believed that they deserved to exist, just because they're trans, after her friend had been visciously attacked and beaten nearly to death. it broke my heart. their ultimate goal is to move to a camp two countries away that has many more lgbt people and a much kinder and less violent climate, but they need money to do that, at least $2000, and that is money that could go to helping their camp members various ailments. it's especially difficult with how much they're struggling to meet their most basic of needs right now.

as of now, their group is comprised mainly of sick and injured people, many of whom need surgery or medical intervention and can't afford it. several of them are very ill with no discernable cause, and they can't get help because there is simply no money. many of them have chipped or broken teeth, or jaw injuries from being beaten, as assaults and beatings are extremely common. this is to say nothing of camp life, which sometimes includes raiders visiting and stealing what little they have, and abducting people. the other day magala showed me her own false teeth, which she had to get after she was beaten badly, and now her jaw is extremely painful to use and cracks when she opens her mouth. five members are HIV positive and NEED the medicine, but also food and water to take it with. a child of one of her camp members has cancer, and needs a $5000 surgery. for those watching my posts, magala's friend was just kicked out of a hospital after she was nearly beaten to death by a group of transphobic people, all because they couldn't meet the funds, and if i hadn't been here as her security net, she and her friend would have literally gone to jail. and her friend is STILL injured and STILL almost died, with no help. the police shaved off magala's beautiful hair as well. what i'm trying to say here is that if i and my friends were not here during that event, there would be no campaign because she would not be here to speak to us or fend for her group. please don't leave magala alone and relying on only one or two people, and her group relying on only her! this is what the LGBT community is FOR, supporting and helping one another and boosting the voices of those being run down.

magala risks a lot to try to get these photos to us so we can see what she's going through - some people attack her for daring to take photos of them or around them, or of her own situation, and in some places photos are entirely forbidden. she is begging people to just listen to her story -- if you want to verify it yourself, you can message her, right here on tumblr. she's a wonderfully kind woman, doing her best to lead her fellow lgbt siblings in am impossible climate of intolerance.

i know people rarely read these posts in full these days, but if you did, thank you, so, so much. please spare a reblog, donate $5 if you can... this is an extremely difficult situation and right now she's weathering this storm almost entirely alone. and if this story moves you and you want to help further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or to her. we need help wherever we can get it, especially in spreading this post and finding people who can help with that. we also need help in being able to cross post to different platforms like tiktok, which would be amazing, and is something i just can't do on my own as one disabled person on tumblr. i really want my friend to not have to live in fear that the next day is her last.

thank you again, so much, from the bottom of my heart.

Wishing you a blessed Easter From Gorom refugee settlementπŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Wishing You A Blessed Easter From Gorom Refugee SettlementπŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

> From the heart of Gorom Refugee Settlement, I, Magala Said, extend warm Easter greetings to you all. May this season of hope and renewal bring peace and joy to your hearts and homes, wherever you may be.

> As we celebrate this special time, we also remember those within our community who are facing hardship and vulnerability. Today, I want to ###bring two critical needs to your attention.

> Firstly, we have a dear member of our transgender community, known to us as Brian, who is currently very sick. We ask for your thoughts, prayers, and any support you may be able to offer for Brian's healing and recovery during this challenging time. Your kindness and compassion can make a significant difference in her well-being.

> Secondly, the challenges within our refugee settlement continue, and we have a number of our members who are living with HIV. Access to consistent and nutritious food is essential for their health and for the effective management of their medication. Additionally, ensuring a steady supply of necessary medications, including ARVs, is a constant concern.

> As you celebrate the spirit of Easter – a time of giving and hope – we humbly ask if you might consider extending your generosity to support these pressing needs within our community here in Gorom. Your contribution, no matter the size, can provide vital sustenance and medication for our members living with HIV, and offer comfort and support to our friend Brian during her illness.

> The image I share today is taken here in Gorom Refugee Settlement. It represents our presence and our hope amidst the challenges we face. Your support can help us ensure a brighter and healthier future for some of the most vulnerable within our community.

> Thank you for opening your hearts and considering our appeal this Easter. May your celebrations be filled with peace, love, and the spirit of giving.

For Any Assistance please donate

Ice cold takes from a Transgender Woman:

Not all Men are evil

Everyone has the capacity for evil

Transgender Men are men

Transgender Women are women

Excluding Cisgender Men from your spaces requires Transgender Men to out themselves if they want to engage (Same for Women)

Anyone can be Non-Binary, there is no "look" or requirement

Non-binary masculine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces, many are just treated as men and predators

Non-binary feminine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces without being seen as "Woman-Lite"

Help needed to save queer person in refugee camp

In the heart of Gorom Refugee Camp, South Sudan, where safety is already a fragile dream for many, a darker reality shadows the lives of the LGBTQ+ community. We, a group of individuals seeking refuge and a semblance of peace, find ourselves constantly battling not just the harsh conditions of displacement, but also the insidious venom of homophobia.

Recently, this hate manifested in a brutal act of violence against one of our own, our dear friend Brian. Brian, a vibrant soul who, despite the adversity, always offered a smile and a helping hand within our small community, was targeted simply for being who he is. He was attacked by individuals fueled by prejudice, their anger escalating to a point of inflicting severe physical harm. The assault was so vicious that Brian's arm was broken, a painful and debilitating injury that now leaves him vulnerable and in agony.

Imagine the fear that grips our community when one of us is so violently targeted. We are already displaced, living with limited resources, and now we must witness one of our own suffer not just the trauma of the attack, but the agonizing reality of being unable to access adequate medical care. In Gorom, as LGBTQ+ refugees, we are often marginalized and denied the basic support that others receive. Free medical assistance remains out of reach, leaving us to bear the burden of healthcare costs ourselves – a burden we are ill-equipped to handle.

Brian's broken arm is not just a physical injury; it's a stark symbol of the violence and discrimination we face daily. It's a reminder of the hate that seeks to silence and erase us. It's a testament to the urgent need for compassion and support from those who believe in equality and human dignity.

We are a resilient community, bound by shared experiences and a fierce determination to survive. We look out for one another, offering what little we have. But Brian's injury requires professional medical attention, the kind that demands resources we simply do not possess. The cost of hospital treatment, the X-rays, the casting, the follow-up care – it amounts to an overwhelming $1500.

This is not just about fixing a broken arm; it's about restoring Brian's sense of safety and dignity. It's about showing the perpetrators of hate that their violence will not go unanswered by the compassion of the wider world. It's about sending a message of solidarity to our community in Gorom, letting them know they are not forgotten.

We turn to you, our friends, allies, and fellow humans, with a heartfelt plea. Can you help us raise the $1500 needed for Brian's medical treatment? Your contribution, no matter the size, will directly impact Brian's recovery and send a powerful message of hope to our community. Please, stand with us against hate and help us heal.

HELP TRANSGENDER SUDANESE REFUGEES IN GOROM CAMP!

hi guys, i'm writing this on behalf of @muhshinmagala Magala Muhshin (Said), who is in Gorom camp, South Sudan.

i've posted and reblogged posts about her campaign before, but i wanted to make a new one so everyone could be up to speed, because she is in DIRE need of help, and her campaign is totally dead in the water right now.

Magala reached out to me about a week ago, asking me for help, via tumblr. while i was at first cautious, i wanted to hear her out, because i perused her account and saw all the pictures she posted, and all the information about her situation that she shared. i asked if she could give me something to verify her story, and not only did she show me identification, but she actually video called me on whatsapp. i saw her face, i spoke to her, she let me hear the stories of some of her fellow LGBT community members within the camp, and she walked me around the perimeter of the refugee camp, and all the way to the entrance, where i saw with my own eyes the sign for the Gorom refugee camp.

in the camp, they lack almost everything one might need or want to live life at the most bare minimum of levels. when i spoke to them, they told me they hadn't eaten for a week, and the week before that, all they could find to eat was banana peels. their camp members are frail and slender, some of them are beginning to lose hair and have their skin texture change due to malnourishment. it's heartbreaking. water is difficult to get as well, especially considering how many members of their group are sick, either with HIV or cholera. their shelters are incredibly makeshift, and not only that but due to their gender and sexual identities, people come by and rip their shelters up. other camp members who aren't LGBT single them out and assault and abuse them. one of their camp members showed me her cracked, broken, and chipped teeth from the last time a group of people attacked her when she was outside. they even lack beds to lay their sick on, and mosquito nets to protect them from getting further diseases. they have a baby in their group, only 2, who was so badly burned recently that the burns extended past her skin into her internal organs and needs surgery, but the only hospital that will help them with the burns (or even with the medicine required for treating HIV) is very expensive. you can see images and videos of this on her account, and on the website i linked above.

this is a real campaign, these are real people. they have stories to tell, and they want anyone to listen to them. where they are there is no support, none of them can get jobs because they are so heavily discriminated against. several of them have been beaten, and are in need of latent medical care, like the trans woman i spoke of above, who is in pain every day from her broken teeth. many of them are HIV positive and are in dire need of ARVs, but have no food or water to take them with, which is a requirement in the state their bodies are in, and no money to purchase the $500 ARVs with. one member told me of his struggles as a trans man, and how frustrated he was with his life. he told me he was so tired, and i could tell he just wanted somebody to listen to his story. this was recurring with all of their stories -- they just want support. they want somebody to listen. they're all so burnt out from their struggles that it's impossible to support one another fully.

one person told me that when their family in kenya found out they were gay, they tried to take them to the police. they had to flee to sudan, which they thought would be safer, but they ended up immediately in the camp, and have been abused and neglected since then, unable to find anything else to go to. so many people had stories of assault to tell me. it broke my heart. these people need our support so, so badly.

i'm writing this post out, with all these links, so you can see and hear the stories that i have seen and heard. this is heart breaking. they need money NOW to save the baby, to save themselves, just to eat. please, please, please reblog, share this, donate as much as you can. we need to help these people -- they're our brothers, our sisters, our siblings.

thank you for reading.

LGBT Sudanese refugees desperately need our help with receiving basic necessities.

Urgent Appeal: A Transgender Refugee Facing Inhumanity

I'm a transgender girl living with my 10fellow strangenders in a refugee camp, facing extreme hardships every single day. I endure attacks, discrimination, torture, and isolation simply because of my identity.

The worst of it all is starvation and lack of proper medical care. I am denied job opportunities because of my gender identity, leaving me without any means to survive. In UNHCR hospitals, homophobic doctors refuse to acknowledge that trans people exist, making it impossible to access even the most basic healthcare.

I am humbly asking for your help and advocacy. We are surviving while hiding from homophobic violence, but we cannot do this alone. Please, if you can support or amplify our voice, we would be forever grateful.

Hello World 🌎 Am Magala Said An LGBTQ Person In A Sudan Refugee Camp. I And My Fellow LGBTQ Refugees

Hello world 🌎 Am magala said an LGBTQ person in a sudan refugee camp. I and my fellow LGBTQ refugees face a lot of challenges including homophobia, hunger, lack of medication, lack of bedding and so many other challenges.

We are aiming at raising 5,000 USD to cover all those expenses so that LGBTQ people can get essential necessities like pads, food, medication and bedding so that they aren’t pressured into prostitution. Anything you can give will be of much help towards our survival however small it may be.

I’m writing on behalf of sister magala transgender woman living in Gorom refugee camp in South Sudan, because she is unable to communicate at the moment. She has been hospitalized for a week at a nearby hospital since we couldn’t afford to take her to her doctor in town. Unfortunately, her condition worsened three days agoβ€”she stopped talking, became bedridden, and is unable to eat. This has been very frightening for us.

Right now, she is only receiving glucose drips to keep her body somewhat stable. We are unsure if her condition is worsening due to her cancer-related illness, but we remain hopeful that she will regain strength soon.

We are urgently trying to raise funds for her surgery. Please read more and support us through the the link
