Sobbing again for the second time. Please never delete this.
My adaptation of the God of Arepo short story, which was originally up at ShortBox Comics Fair for charity. You can get a copy of the DRM-free ebook here for free - and I'd encourage you to donate to Mighty Writers or The Ministry of Stories in exchange.
Again it's an honour to be drawing one of my favourite short stories ever. Thank you so much for the original authors for creating this story; and for everyone who bought a copy and donated to the above non-profits.

ISLEIGH
"Why? Why I didn't safe Khaenri'ah? Surely you know why. I didn't safe anyone because I was gone, killed by my own people - your ancestors - who denounced me as their god just to get a piece of my divinity for themselfs, cutting off any duties and responsibilties I had to them with their own hands in the process.
Being nothing, not even an existant being, nevermind a conscious one, I never could have even known that anyone was in danger, nevermind actually help.
And then, when I came into being once again, you tried to kill me again. I have absolutely no duties to you. You're not my people nor will you ever be."
- The Creator after being hunted as an impostor.

GOJO would honestly leave in the middle of a fight with a curse if he receives an “I miss you” text from you, just saying!
He’s getting ready to activate his domain expansion to kill a special grade curse when his phone dings, and when he checks it — already knowing that you’re the one messaging him because he has everyone else on do not disturb — he sees your message.
He instantly stops activating his domain, puts his blindfold back on, and says, “I gotta go, we can pick this back up later,” and leaves right in the middle of battle.
And when he gets yelled at by the elders for not immediately killing the special grade curse, he just looks at them and goes, “I’m sorry, but have you seen my girlfriend? And how gorgeous she is? If she wants me to come over, you better believe that I’ll drop anything and everything to go see her.”
SHITTING TEARS RN ITS 4AM I CANT
I know it probably was Kishimoto being misogynistic, but Sakura's obsession with herself as a sexual object in the first chapters was disturbing and I wish it was explored more. Like, she's only twelve and already skipping meals to lose weight and measuring her worth as Sasuke's potential girlfriend based on how big her tits and ass are. That's not normal. Ino also tried to seduce Neji to protect her and her teammates' lives at some point, I think. What does that say about their society? If this was another series, their behaviors could be explained as personal idiosyncracies, but given some of the roles that kunoichi played historically, seducing men to spy or assassinate them, it would make sense for them to be obsessed with their physical appearance. Their livehoods depend on men finding them desirable.
Thieves stealing important objects from the main characters and then being forced somehow into a found family situation
Saving a character’s life by doing something like taking an arrow/bullet
By losing a bet with a stranger and then teaming up
Gambling with a shifty character and getting really mad at them, only for them to later end up saving the other character’s life
Meeting the other in an arranged marriage and actually liking them (or really, really hating them)
Or having a chaotic dynamic where they irritate each other but they’re equally chaotic, so they become the mischievous duo in the found family
By bickering over the last piece of food at a banquet
Getting hired as a servant or maid, or some other serving position
By accidentally almost killing a character, only for them to join the found family and literally never stop bringing up that first meeting
So damn cheesy but this quote is seriously Malleus coded:
“I’ll never stop being greedy when it comes to her. She will always be the exception to any rule and the one person I’m willing to screw the world over for. Because if she’s not happy, I’ll ruin whatever stole her smile, myself included.”
