mistynat is so great bc without misty we are just left with a natalie who is shakespearean levels of tragic. just leading an absolutely miserable existence. all the universe does is chew her up and spit her out over and over. unbearable. which is perhaps precisely why they gave her misty, a ridiculous and offputting poodle of a woman with no sense of action -> consequence. she makes nat's life miserable too, often in the deadliest ways possible, but her mere presence in nat's life is so goofy and absurd that it somehow becomes a relief from the usual torments. at least with misty nat's in a codependent buddy comedy on top of the eternal suffering. samuel beckett style. plus christina ricci has a great rack

i wonder if natalie eventually learned that the box misty broke was actually a recorder or if she thought everything was her fault till the end

it’s so funny to me that misty gives nat an essential oil diffuser with ylang ylang and gardenia because they’re “very, very uplifting,” but fails to mention that they’re both aphrodisiacs traditionally used to enhance romance, desire, and intimacy.
