I keep seeing comments about how idols don’t have the right to complain or feel sad because they’re “celebrities” who are “rich”. Honestly, that makes me really mad. Idols are humans too. They have their own thoughts, emotions, and feelings. They’re not perfect, just like us, and that’s okay. I understand that some people may not like some idols for certain reasons. However, that does NOT give you the right to be leaving hateful/hurtful comments on their social media accounts or music videos. 

The idea that mental illnesses are not real needs to stop. Mental health issue is very much a real and serious issue. Idols have their own problems and struggles that we fans will never know about unless we become idols ourselves. You can’t just go around telling them how to feel or what to do because you have this particular view of them. They’re always under constant pressure to be “perfect” and that’s already hard enough on them. They do NOT need any hateful/hurtful comments to read. For all you know, those words could be the last straw.

Ever since the devastating news about Jonghyun was announced, I keep seeing those terrible comments about him and other idols. That’s why I decided to make this post talking about just a few idols who talk about these issues. Isn’t one death enough for you all?? How many deaths does there need to be until you realize that this is a serious issue that needs to be handled delicately? Why do you have to continue to criticize idols and tell them to go die just because they’re not doing/didn’t do something exactly the way you want them to? Why do you make their mental health issues invalid simply just because they’re celebrities? Remember that these idols are human beings too. Think before you post, comment, or say anything. Once you say it, it cannot be taken back. Don’t say something that you’ll regret later on. This goes for any mental health issues regarding a human being, idol or not.

Due to the continued progression of the KOSA bill I would like to remind everyone, that this message reaches, that this is an over reach of government power. The constitution lines out that our government has no right to censor media. This bill has been proven by media outlets and its very own creator to violate the constitution’s first amendment, and the creator has stated that it is meant to be a direct attack on the queer community and media. This attack on our rights should meet a swift end as I hope we as the forces of tumblr can rally and vote to kill the bill on March 13th. If we stand idlely by and allow this to base our government will become more ballsy and I fear that eventually we may start to lose more of our rights as citizens. And so I shall say that it is in the constitution that if our government over reaches their power and does stuff like this we as citizen have the power to reinforce our rights and fight back against the government.

Hey everyone, KOSA just passed in senate. This is not good and they are pressuring the house to pass it. Please make sure to contact your house representatives.

For those who don't know this is a trojan horse bill that will hurt the LGBT+ and will cause mass wide censorship on the internet. This is a HUGE deal.

I know it's tiring to always contact representatives, but if KOSA passes, a lot of bad things will befall the internet and very likely our free speech.

For those of you thinking this is only a USA issue, it's not. It'll affect all US run websites. So please help by spreading the word.

Guys, please be careful to vet that what you choose to signal boost is actually accurate. I’m seeing a lot of well-intentioned posts today about Net Neutrality that are likely to do just as much harm as good due to misinformation in them.

For instance, we are not all suddenly shouting that the sky is falling because the FCC has PASSED the bill abolishing Net Neutrality and the changes are to be put in place some time this month. As claimed by one post I just saw with over 5,000 notes already. This is simply, unequivocally NOT true, and it can actually get in the way of the call to action that very post made, asking people to call and email their congressmen, because a lot of people who see that might think “what’s the point, if its already passed?”

It hasn’t. Chairman Ajit Pai of the FCC unveiled in April his proposed plan to strike back the Net Neutrality regulations Obama’s administration passed in 2015, and which have since 2015 been upheld by the courts in the face of Republican opposition’s attempts to claim they overreached. What has people shouting the sky is falling NOW is because yesterday (November 21st) is when the date of the official vote on this proposed plan was announced. That date is December 14th.

Which means there IS still time to affect the outcome of the vote. People are pessimistic about the chances of this vote because the FCC board is held by a Republican majority at the moment, but make the passing of this bill seem toxic enough to other Republican interests and there is still a chance to keep it from passing. 

Which is still a hell of a lot better than assuming the bill has already passed and that there’s really no point.

We have until December 14th to kick up enough of a fuss that the Republicans on the FCC board think twice about voting for this bill. And even after that, there are still legal recourses. The courts have refused to uphold other bills Trump’s administration has attempted to pass as overreaching, unconstitutional, and/or in opposition of the true will of the people - just as the Republicans attempted to do back in 2015 when the FCC under Obama passed the Net Neutrality laws in the first place.

This does not mean be complacent. This does not mean assume enough other people will raise enough of a fuss without adding your voice to the mix. It simply means THERE IS STILL TIME TO ACT. The sky may be falling, but until it finishes falling, there’s still a chance to catch it instead.
