Pakorn vs Puen
Tay : what's it like working together as a group?
Kinn : Imagine working with completely civilized, responsible and mature people
Tay : okay
Kinn : Now throw that idea out of the window
I would literally do anything to re live that feeling I had when I first watched Masaan. There is something extremely raw about understanding the original dialogue & not needing subtitles.
And yet. Yet. I did not know a lot of cultural nuances within the story. Such as the belief that splitting the skull during cremation is said to help the soul rest in peace. The betting on kids who can dive to pick coins. Slut shaming & stigma on pre marital sex being more condemned in smaller towns than metropolitan cities.
The subtlety of accents. Devi uses the word "please" "papa" & always speaks in a clear "sophisticated" way, sprinkled with English words. She's digitally literate. Confident even that despite everyone's blackmail, she was just in love & not being the so called slut. She was afraid but never guilty. She never accepted harassment.
Then we have Deepak & Shaalu. Blissfully happy. Until reality starts sinking in. Their families will not accept an inter caste marriage. Deepak starts getting insecure that his family cremates bodies for a living. Shaalu feels pathetic for asking. Of course she meant no harm but damn was she scared of bring disowned.
And then it starts to merge. Devi & Deepak both want to break their cycle of poverty. They study hard & move in search of opportunity. They want to better their lives. They've lost their lovers. They both throw their lover's remaining token into the rivers.
I personally see the last line to be layered. That they should go to sangam twice. But were they really alone? Or were they going with that someone not next to them but in their heart?
might be delu but what if they get married before leaving. Like c'mon this alternate universe will recognize your marriage too 😭😭😭
Soft pink is often associated with feminine qualities such as nurturing and compassion. It is also symbolic of budding romance and falling in love. Which is precisely what both the boys are experiencing at this moment.
Pink also has negative connotations such as passivity and unwillingness to take matters seriously.
Puen refused to take responsibility of Pakorn's life until that eye opening conversation. On the other hand Talay is still in denial about Puen's obvious flirting.
Pink is also associated with timidity & inexperience. Both the leads claim to have never experienced dating. While Puen is letting his heart lead, Talay is acting timid & cautious, thereby caging it. He's neither taking responsibility for his own feelings nor for making Puen fall in love with him. 🥲
Kim : So what's your type?
Chay : Handsome, musician, kind, good hair, oblivious, charming, mysterious and talented.
Kim : Sounds a lot like me...too bad we're just friends
Chay : Did I mention oblivious?
Kim : Yeah, why?
Chay : Okay, just making sure
Too lazy to write a disclaimer let's just call it fluff k thxx😭🙏
Eiji's sleep was disturbed by muffled sobs. Not again he thought. Ash screamed in his bed ,"Don't die on me Eiji. I'll quit this lifestyle. I'll come to Japan. I'll do anything!!"
Eiji quietly slid into Ash's blankets & spooned him. "I'm still here, Ash. With you." Ash turned & slept on his back. Eiji's view was breathtakingly beautiful. Blonde messy hair, moonlit features, slightly parted lips.
Eiji was not thinking when he lifted his head & almost kissed Ash. Almost. But stopped. What was he doing. He must be ashamed. Ash was asleep. Unaware. His curiosity was not even close to important.
"What are you doing?" Ash blinked
"I must have been sleepwalking. Sorry."
Eiji tried to leave but Ash held his hand. "I felt your breath on my face. Don't lie to me. Not about this."
"Fine. It's just that... Since the day you passed me a message when I came to see you in prison I've been confused as hell...."
"Let me help you find your answers then."
Ash slid his hand into Eiji's hair & pulled him into a kiss. Besides Eiji, it seemed to answer some of Ash's own questions. And Eiji reciprocated based on instinct having no prior experience. They pulled apart. Breathless. Sweating.
"You taste divine." Ash blinked with a perplexed expression.
"Do I really like it or... Is it just because you're good at it..."
"I did not do it out of obligation or use rehearsed moves on you...."
"Ash could I pass you a secret message this time?"
"You could."
Eiji cupped Ash's face & looked him in the eyes before leaning in & giving a gentle peck on the lips.
"You could read my message here. There's no one else"
"Let me look. Oh. so this is love "
Part 4/4
For the first time Kim almost immediately loses his composure on hearing Porchay didn't turn up for his college interview.
Let's take a moment to appreciate how deep Porchay's love was. 😭 He must have dreamt of joining music school after idolising WIK. The more he got to know him, his idol became his muse & first love. (There's a quote which says "Love is creating a religion with a fallible God") He loved him with all his heart so when WIK left so did Porchay's ability to make art 🥺🥺🥺🥺
The vexed person here is not Kim but WIK. He was surprised after hearing even teachers found Porchay as promising as he did. He did spend time tutoring Chay & as a teacher, he was hoping his student to do well.
He also knows Chay is neither incapable nor weak. He was not like regular kids whose main struggles were graduating high school or getting into college. Porchay was coping with their uncle's betrayal. Porsche abruptly leaving him alone with a letter & no way of communication. He was fighting his battles alone the whole time & still managed to stay positive.
Kim probably went thinking Porchay lost confidence & needs reassurance. But then he realized he had been a monster all along. Because it hit him that WIK was the reason Porchay learnt to dream. And KIM was the one who crushed it.
When Porchay tells him off, Kim realises for the first time that he's not in position to lecture anyone. Now that he let someone know about his double life, who was he to teach about separating personal & professional lives? What right did he have to tell anything, when Porchay reminded that he never interfered in Kim's life?
When Kim left warning "From now on, what you do is your darn decision" I don't think he meant, "I'm no longer going to care about you or protect you."
Rather, he must have meant, "You're growing into an adult who needs to take responsibility of his life. So don't do anything that you would regret later." He's right. Porchay should have prioritised college. He's got a long life ahead to wallow, date & break up.
But it doesn't look right when it's coming from Kim, who grew up the way he did, has almost no issues listening to his head over his heart, and is now failing to either hold on or let go. He first leads him on, breaks his heart, and still continues to show up like a knight in shining armor. Only walk away without even an elaborate apology. He can't nurse his broken heart & move on until you withdraw from his life P'Kim😪
Now ik we're all rooting for a happy ending for our y/n x celebrity in a mafia au 😂
It's unrealistic to expect Kim to turn into this openly affection person with good communication skills. It's also weird if Porchay adjusts seamlessly into the world of organised crime. Yes even I want Kim to go out of his way & give Porchay a grand apology. I also hope Porchay says that he understands but he's still hurt. That he takes his time to heal & forgive.
A believeable happy ending would be the one where Porchay agrees to make an effort to understand Kim & his life. Meanwhile Kim stops separating parts of himself and promises to love Porchay as Kimhan Theerapanyakul instead WIK or KIM.
Love is not an end result but the efforts made every single day.

Idk what to call it but Karasuno is likened to crows & 'kage' (ಕಾಗೆ) in kannada language means crow... Their setter's name is literally 'Kage'yama.
This scene healed something in me
