A Raffle for Kholood

the first campaign for kholood smeer (@kholoodpals) has not reached its goal yet, and donations have slowed down as well. the violence in palestine hasn't stopped and the remnants of it still take a toll beyond the basic necessities of a person, kholood has been displaced, her campaign for her family and herself has been open for months and it was meant just as a first step in helping them heal, yet not even this has been realised.

kholood doesn't lose hope, neither do i, so she wants to encourage people to help her in rebuilding her life and her family's life, she has decided to give away two items of her own in a raffle: a necklace and a kuffiyeh of her own that she will be sending to two people that win the raffle.

to participate first you must donate to kholood's campaign.

send proof of your donation through this form.

the raffle will run from january 23rd to february 16th, 12:00am gmt +2 time.

the first prize: the kuffiyeh will be for the person that donates the BIGGEST amount and submits proof through the form.

the second prize: the necklace will be selected at random by kholood from the entries of all that donate and submit proof through the form. you can enter as many times as you want to, EACH DONATION counts as a participation for this prize.

you must be comfortable giving us a shipping address.

the winners will be announced by tagging in this blog and we will dm you for the shipping address once that happens.

join us, please, thanks for reading.

A Raffle For Kholood

£2100/£5000.

this is just part of a bigger goal and we haven't met it, i cannot stress enough how much they need to get back so little, i believe we can do more than that, please help.

this fundraiser has been vetted here at #337.

tagging for reach:

Once again recommending donations to the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. Not only is it a credible organization, you can donate any amount, so even if you don’t have much money, you can still contribute what you can towards humanitarian aid in Gaza. It takes donations via credit, PayPal, and mailed checks.

Skip Google for Research

As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms

As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.

Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.

Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.

www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.

www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.

https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.

www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.

http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.

www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.

www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.

www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

many of these books require trigger warnings, especially some of the older ones that are more likely to feature racial struggles of the time. please do your due diligence and search for tws if you want to read them!

alternatives without harming yourself:

holding/squeezing ice

splashing your face with water

getting a rubber band and snapping it against your skin (this could hurt, though it’s better than other ways that people usually choose to self-harm)

take a hot shower or bath

eat something sour. it will take your mind off the urge. (lemon, sour candy)

massage where you would self-harm

get a red pen or red paint and draw/paint over where you usually self-harm

remind yourself as to why you shouldn’t do it (scars, harms organs, leave memories etc…)

describe what you are feeling (is the urge/pain in your chest, fists, legs, arms, head?)

killing yourself will not help. it is not a solution.

you have your whole life ahead of you. you have so many more years that you can accomplish things in.

for example;

having a family

getting married

to watch the sun rise

to watch the sun set

to save someone else’s life

finish school

get your dream job

to laugh

to smile

to go camping

travel to new places

to wake up every morning to the person you love

friends

family

to keep that promise you made

to accomplish a goal

to meet your idol

to listen to new music

theme parks

video games

chocolate

to be able to look back and say “i made it”

what you’re going through is temporary.

in case you need to hear this:

you are loved.

you are wanted.

you are needed.

you are beautiful.

you are handsome.

you are important.

you are not alone.

you are okay.

you are strong.

you are worth it.

you are smart.

you are not a failure.

you are useful.

you are going to be okay.

The Red Lines Policy

The Red Lines Policy

The Red Lines Policy

Israel controls all food that enters the Gaza Strip. In 2007, Israeli authorities mandated that Palestinians in Gaza should receive only the minimum of food to avoid malnutrition, featuring 37% fewer fruits and veggies than the average Israeli. Though Israel claims to have ended this policy, as of 2017, 40% of Gaza’s households suffered from severe food insecurity, largely as a result of Israel’s blockade.
