Mah gurl Skylor can use 2 powers at the same time. She’s so strong, I love her.
hey everyone, so can we talk about this?
this is the first time that Katsuki has talked about his own personal shortcomings to such an extent. he’s flirted with acknowledging them out loud before, at the provisional course, and we know he’s been working on improving himself, because we saw the change during the joint training arc. but this is the first time he has actually come right out and admitted that there is something he knows he’s missing, and that his goal now is to find it.
so there are two parts of this that I want to break down and discuss. let’s start with this:
“I’ve learned that just because I’m strong in a fight, that doesn’t mean I’m strong as a person.”
JBox translated this as “I’ve learned that pure strength isn’t enough to become strong.” I’m curious as to how Viz will word it. but it’s Mangastream’s translation that really piqued my interest. “that doesn’t mean I’m strong as a person.” correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is the first time Katsuki has ever talked about himself as a person at all. up to this point he’s seemed to have zero interest in any kind of self-reflection. and even now, he’s still bringing it up in a context of strength. he needs to be “strong” as a person because that will help him become stronger as a hero. but regardless of how he frames it, or whether or not he’s only seeking it because it pertains to his goal of surpassing the number one, this is still huge IMO for him to bring up strength of character and acknowledge that it’s still something that’s eluding him.

THANK YOU.
I think I found my soulmate though.
So by now, most of us know about the scene where in order to save Lloyd, the ninja run the risk of draining or losing all of their powers. I’ve seen a lot of people hating on Kai for his opinion during the scene, but I do think he was somewhat- not entirely, however- justified.
First off, Kai is scared of not being enough. We saw that a lot in S1, when he was trying so hard to become the Green Ninja, even to the point of choosing between saving Lloyd or the Fangblade in E10. I think this comes from his background. Kai comes from a small town out in the middle of nowhere, and from very simple beginnings.
Since his parents were never there, he had to step up and take control over his life. He probably was under a lot of pressure, since he had to be there for Nya as well as run the blacksmith shop as well as take care of himself, too. We know from season 7 that Ray and Maya disappeared sometime around when Nya was 3 or 4, because that was when the painting was made and Kai said they disappeared around that time.
So that left a 5-6 year old Kai taking care of a 3-4 year old Nya, assuming one of the villagers took care of them until their teens.
Then Kai met Wu, and became the Master of Fire. He was important, he had a set role, he found his place. His power gave him all that. So I can understand that he wouldn’t want to lose it, because it made him into what he is now and gave him something more than blacksmithing for the rest of his life.
Secondly, Kai knows someone has to be the voice of reason here. They’re facing a seemingly unbeatable evil, they’re going to need to be at full strength. If they lose their powers, and the tea doesn’t work, then how will they protect Lloyd? After all, that is first and foremost their main job. The ninja are the protecters and teachers of the Green Ninja. Kai knows this, he unlocked his True Potential by realizing it. He’s saying this out of concern for Lloyd, because he knows that without their powers they won’t be able to protect their friend.
Lastly, I know a lot of people see Kai’s thought process here as selfish and unlike his character, but I think it’s the opposite. Kai cares so much about Lloyd, the show has made that perfectly clear that he sees the Green Ninja as a little brother. He would never have said what he did if he hadn’t been thinking of Lloyd and everyone else’s safety. Yes, Kai is scared of losing his powers. But not in a selfish way. He’s scared he won’t be able to protect his brother when the time comes.
However, Kai is not entirely in the right for hesitating on his decision, I understand that. But I think he had his reasons for his thoughts.
And that’s my analysis of Kai’s thought process during the “Save Lloyd” scene in ep 84. Let me know what you guys think!
Cole : why is Lloyd always putting the dishes away so loudly.
Kai : To let you know that no one helps around the bounty.
Yeah people.. take a good look. #PoorJay
Hopefully she will be in S10 bc damn I loved her in Hunted. Plus, she’ll make a great assemble to the team

lol, I just realized it, but look at Lloyd and Nya’s expressions after Skylor just chucks UV down the street. XD
She’s got kind of an evil side
I recommend you should watch it again (At least if you want to) the only thing is, Season 7 was written by a different writer so it could be a bummer season for you. But I’m sure that S8 will go beyond your expectations.
is ninjago still relevant or am I just that dumbass who gets into things way too late
