The first is "person", which she signs by a "V" of index and middle finger pointing downward as to mimick legs.
The second is for "Burakh" , which she signs by signing "person" then placing her other hand, index and pinkie pointed to mimick horns, above it.
The third is for "Dankovsky", which she signs by signing "person" then drawing a squiggly line above it ("snake").
The fourth is for "Sticky", which she signs by striking the index of one hand against the side of the other, held open and flat, pointed downstarts, mimicking the striking of a matchstick against the box.
The fifth is "set of twins", or "changeling", which she signs by having four fingers instead of two pointing downwards in the same manner as for "person", her thumb tucked against the palm.
The sixth is "roots" for a plant, which she signs by signing "plant" (a closed fist with index and middle finger pointing up) and putting her other hand, all fingers sprawled and pointing downwards, under it.
The seventh is "roots" for a tree, which she signs by signing "tree" (a closed fist) and putting her other hand, all fingers sprawled and pointing downwards, under it.
The eight is "family", "ancestry", "ancestors", which she signs by signing "person" in a closed fist and putting her other hand, all fingers sprawled and pointing downwards, under it (literally "roots of a person").

as I was saying…

Murky developing her own sign language (MSL... Mishka Sign Language) for when she goes non-verbal and her new family figuring it out as she goes, broadening the signed vocabulary each time and perfecting the signs as everyone just kind of fools around and tries to find out.

I haven't been in the fandom long but after learning of the Freemance wars, I have something to say.

The interpretation that Gordon Freeman is grooming Alyx Vance or is a predator in some way is laden with misogynistic undertones when you take the time to think about it.

"Surely this grown woman cannot make decisions for herself about who she likes. She must be being manipulated by a white man! We have to protect her from herself!"

It's deeply infantalizing and horrifically misogynistic. Alyx is 24 years old. Dr. Freeman is physically and mentally 27 years old. The notion that she is being manipulated completely strips her of her autonomy.

Does a woman choosing to like a man scare you? Does it scare you so much that you have to turn against her and make her out to be a helpless and naive victim in order to make it better? Pathetic.

It's not protective. It's sexism packaged as modern sensibility and completely deprives a grown adult woman of her agency, sexual autonomy, and maturity.
