text from those times by Anne Sexton: my body, the suspect in its grotesque house

In the center of a white page sits a pastel pink house with larger-than-life sized pale and nearly grey and blue legs and arms protruding out of part of the front to sit limply on the ground. The positioning of the photo suggests that the owner of the legs and arms is either a giant girl stuffed into the house or the house itself. The photo has a grainy quality and is slightly drained of color.

A 3-D artpiece by Laurie Simmons called Walking House. A model of a house with brick walls, slate roof tiles, and a chimney sits on top of a pair of dainty mannequin's legs against a black backdrop. An eerie white light is shone on the walking house from the front, casting harsh shadows.

Text from the poem Ash by Tracy K Smith: Strange house we must keep and fill. House that eats and pleads and kills. House on legs. House on fire. House infested with desire. Haunted House. Lonely House. House of trick and suck and shrug. Give-it-to-me house. I-need-you-baby house. House whose rooms are pooled with blood. House with hands. House of guilt. House that other houses built. House of lies and pride and bone. House afraid to be alone. House like an engine that churns and stalls. House with skin and hair for walls. House the seasons singe and douse. Text from Housewife by Anne Sexton: Some women marry houses. It's another kind of skin; it has a heart, a mouth, a liver and bowel movements. The walls are permanent and pink. See how she sits on her knees all day, faithfully washing herself down.

It is a rectangle with a triangle roof and one rounded indentation like a door in the center. A minimalistic woman's head sticks out of the left side, turned slightly from the ground to look at the viewer. Whether her eyes are opened or closed is impossible to tell. Her calves stick out of the right side of the house at a higher point so that her body must be positioned in a straight slope with her head pointing further towards the ground.

Text from the Haunting of Hill House by Mike Flanagan: Mom says that a house is like a body, and that every house has eyes... and bones... and skin... and a face. This room is like the heart of the house. No, not a heart, a stomach.

The model is symmetrical and the front of the house faces the viewer. There is one door, two windows on either side, and three more identical and evenly spread windows on the second floor. The windows are dark but there appears to be cluttered objects in the house. A white string is caught in the bottom of the red door. Another string is attached to the chimney at the center of the roof.

The photo is angled so that the viewer is looking towards the corner of the room, and the boxy older TV is in the center of the frame. The room is only in varying dark shades of one red, but the TV appears to show light red static. Two chairs in darkness frame either side of the viewer, pointed away and towards the TV. TV static also runs across the photo and everything appears grainy.
