Interpretation of female figure, Naqada region (Pre-dynastic Egypt), circa 3650-3300 BCE
On display at the Met in 2023.
[Alt Plaque Text: Naqada II (ca.3650-3300 B.C.) Probably the Naqada region - Clay plaster, resinous organic material, paint, malachite - Rogers Fund, 1907 (07.228.71) - This woman's face, narrow waist, and wide hips draw the viewer's attention. The emphasis on the lower body suggests figurines like this one functioned as fertility objects (see case between windows). The piece's light gray surface created an ideal canvas for painted details and the irregular black lines are the remains of tattoos, including a crossed circle under her mouth and a hoofed animal on her left shoulder. Her eyes were enhanced with green malachite and her hair was modeled separately using a mixture of resin and organic material. She wears red and green necklaces and unusual anklets.]
I feel like tumblr should be bigger fans of The Blues Brothers. It's a movie that has everything we value as a community. Attention and respect to pioneering black musicians, open hostility to nazis, open defiance to police, Carrie Fisher with a rocket launcher and flamethrower, a soundtrack that goes hard as hell, John Belushi so blasted on cocaine that he continues to do somersaults despite having a broken ankle. It's got it all!
I kinda like it but egon looks off..
Just in case
Happy Mother's Day.
THE BLUES BROTHERS (1980) + letterboxd reviews [insp]
I totally agree, BUT to be more specific (and very tragic), if I'm not wrong, Egon's body was dragged into a ghost trap. They did not show the scene in the film because it was going to be too violent, but yes. She most probably noticed he hadn't come out of his farm for a couple of days, decided to check, and...found the trap.
That's honestly very sad :(
do you ever think about how Janine predicted Egon’s death? how she knew that he’d die trying to stop Gozer? …but she got the year wrong.
do you ever think about how she gave him her lucky coin, hoping against hope that it’d bring him good fortune? do you ever think about how happy she was to see him come back alive? how she pushed her way through the crowd, ran to him and hugged him?
do you ever think about how, in their later years, she kept in touch with him when everyone else was convinced he’d lost his mind? do you ever think about how it was likely Janine who found Egon’s lifeless body? do you think she remembered that night in 1984, when she looked into his eyes and predicted this?
Soooo...here are the angry short guy and his autistic brother i guess
