The thing I like about Hua Cheng carving companions for all the Xie Lian statues is that it does two things. It forces Hua Cheng to depict himself as somewhat of an equal to Xie Lian. (Plus he has to make nice statues of himself as to not sully the Xie Lian statues. He has to look at himself in a positive, or at least neutral light.) It also shows that Xie Lian isn't alone anymore. Even his representations are not alone.
It kind of brings both their character arcs full circle. Hua Cheng is worthy of being with Xie Lian without making himself lesser than. Xie Lian doesn't have to be alone for other's safety. He also doesn't have to earn his place with Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng loves him as is now, as well as how he was at every point in his life so far. (He understands (and loves) Xie Lian's everything after all.)
The last few episodes of The On1y One emphasized the casual public and private intimacy between Tian Yang and Shi Yu because they were more relaxed around each other since there was nothing queer happening between them. They were just two boys sleeping in a bed.
Compared to Wang and Tian who were restrained laying next to each other because they knew their feelings and what it would mean to touch each other.
Because even when they did touch in bed, it was nowhere near the entanglement of limbs that their roommates demonstrated. There was still a sense of self-control.
So because Wang and Tian know, they didn't touch each other like when Wang immediately pulled his hand from Tian even though he did need help walking. It was realizing his feelings, so he didn't want any touch to be publicly perceived as a gay touch.
Which is something that didn't happened between the other boys. So what if someone saw them touch? It wasn't gay. It was just a touch.
And we saw it again.
And again.
Knowing caused a barrier between the boys.
Because that barrier didn't exist with anyone else.
In the end, knowing was the problem.

Aaaaaaaaaaghdjdnrjsndnfndndn!
I loved it!
Their chemistry π₯΅π₯
The emotional damage I took from this moment alone . . .
This is why he didn't want Shao Peng going into his room. He didn't want him to know that he doesn't sleep in the bed. He didn't want him to know he feels safest curled up in a tight space where nobody can get him.
I thought he didn't want him to see that he had packed his things to run away, but no. It was because he sleeps in there.
(but mostly things I want to keep with me)
