A smart energy grid is a two-way electrical framework that relies on Big Data Analytics and IoT technologies to enable smart metering of electricity. The advantages of smart grids include a more efficient method of electricity transmission, a quicker containment and restoration after electrical emergencies, lowered costs for utility operations and management teams, and lower energy bills for consumers. Smart grids enable customers to become more proactive and educated about their electricity usage as they evolve into prosumers who also contribute to the electricity supply. In addition to residential customers, businesses also use smart meters to track their energy and track how costs differ according to building areas.
Artificial intelligence has proven to be a disruptive technology with applications across every sector. Sensing the potential to dominate the market early, many enterprising tech companies have put their efforts toward improving the foundations of AI and discovering new use cases for it. AI is, of course, a broad term that can encompass any algorithmic technology, ranging from autonomous vehicles to medical record systems. The country has declared its intentions to become a global AI leader by 2030, with goals to hit an industry value of $150 billion. Of course, the question then becomes what AI technology is used for by the CCP. Critics of China have accused the country of leveraging new technologies for the purpose of monitoring and suppressing its citizens. One then wonders what the benefits of outpacing China in the AI race truly is—is the end goal something that other countries in the world should strive for?

The Most Photographed Stone East of the Mississippi
Very near the Soudan Underground State Park administered by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is what some people call “the most photographed outcrop in the state.” This is a pavement outcrop of folded banded iron formation. The outcrop consists of metallic hematite, red jasper and white chert. These originally horizontal layers have been folded multiple times. In some areas, the jasper and chert have fractures filled with milky quartz.
