Funny fic idea:

Zoro gets hit by a devil fruit that makes him physically split into three different versions of himself:

The first is the incarnation of his bloodlust and love for battle in order to become the greatest swordsman.

The second is the incarnation of his desire to nap and drink sake.

The third is the incarnation of his devotion to (*cough* love) Luffy and his desire to support (love) his captain in anything he does.

So basically, it’s the strawhats trying to deal with a version of Zoro that does nothing except want to fight and run off on his own. Another Zoro that refuses to do anything other except be lazy, drink until there’s nothing left to drink, and then sleep. Then the last Zoro that is incredibly attached to the captain in a way the normal Zoro isn’t.

Just imagine the terror. You got the Zoro that just lets his bloodlust go and is the definition of not giving a shit. The Zoro who can’t be bothered to do anything if it involves him moving or relinquishing his drink, and then a Zoro who follows Luffy around, opening doors, pulling out Luffy’s chair, hunting and fishing him excess amounts of food, ensuring he’s comfortable while he sleeps (and never so much as uttering a word except the infamous ‘whatever you need, Captain’ and ‘aye, Captain’ and ‘I’m yours to command, Captain’). And the third Zoro can’t help but blush and shy away from Luffy’s normal physical affections, but he can’t not allow Luffy to touch him either, so he’s just in a constant state of panic.

What makes it worse is when the other two Zoro’s show signs of being devoted to Luffy as well, with the second Zoro (the sleepy one) crawling into Luffy’s hammock to nap and only offering Luffy the ability to drink with him, and the first Zoro challenging anyone who so much as looks at his captain in the wrong way and vowing to disembowel all of Luffy’s perceived enemies.

So the straw-hats are exasperated because it’s like dealing with a normal zoro multiplied by three except all the aspects of his personality are exasperated. It also doesn’t take them long to realize Zoro’s devotion to Luffy is a little bit more than just devotion—of course Luffy remains oblivious all the way up until the end of it when Zoro goes back to normal and he’s so horrified about his actions that he blushes all the way down his neck and can’t bare to meet Luffy’s eyes.

Just a super cute fic with three Zoros loving Luffy in their own little way and the straw hats trying their best to handle it.

A/B/O dynamic Fic throw out idea.

In which Zoro is all about not being driven by his biology as an Alpha and takes great pride in the fact that the most amount of attraction he’s felt for anyone was literally a passing appreciation for another’s guys physique because that had been impressive.

Then having a total meltdown when he realizes two days into sailing with Luffy on the high seas in nothing but a dingy boat, that he can’t seem to keep his eyes from gravitating towards his captain. His captain who Zoro convinced himself he admires and nothing else. His captain who has the prettiest smile in the whole world and when he tells Zoro a little secret, it’s that Luffy’s an Omega but doesn’t really let something like that affect him.

And Zoro’s cool with it, of course he is, because he’s not one of those alphas, the ones who discount a person’s strength based off their second gender. He knows Luffy’s strong, the strongest guy he’s met so far, and Luffy’s dream is much bigger than whether or not he’s an Omega.

So Zoro accepts the information and moves on. He treats Luffy as his captain because he is, and if his eyes linger a little longer than necessary it’s because he wants to make sure that idiot doesn’t get into trouble (because he is so damn good at getting into messes he needs Zoro to get him out of).

And it’s fine. Everything is fine. Zoro doesn’t freak out when more people join them, and some of those crewmates happen to be Alphas because dynamic is not a guarantee of strength, and Zoro will stand by that until the day he dies.

Except, things stop being fine.

They stop being fine the day Luffy tipsily stumbles over to him, extra affectionate given the booze. He drapes over Zoro like a languid, lazy cat, content to nuzzle into the first mate without a care in the world. Zoro accepts Luffy because this is just how Luffy is. He’s clingy, mostly with Usopp and Chopper, but he can be clingy with the others to, so Zoro breathes through the way his heart rate spikes and how he can’t take his eyes away from Luffy’s neck. Then the captain is grinning and leaning up like he wants to tell Zoro another secret.

“Shi-Shi, Zoro is a good Alpha. The best.”

And the first mate’s whole world shatters and repairs itself in that instant. He didn’t think words could ever unravel him so completely, but Luffy’s drunken commentary sends Zoro into a spiral of self realization coupled with a healthy dose of, “No, it can’t be? Luffy? I like Luffy?” But it’s not ‘just’ Luffy. It’s his captain. His comrade. His friend. And now his brain traiterously whispers: his omega.

Needless to say, Zoro wouldn’t be Zoro without a bit of guilt and self sacrifice. He feels weak because he’s letting his baser instincts get the better of him. Of course he takes an interest in the Omega when they’ve been on the same ship together for months now, almost close to a year. Of course the Alpha inside him would think, “Oh, hey, a potential mate.” So Zoro convinces himself it’s nothing to worry about, pointedly ignoring the fact that he traveled with Yosaku and Johnny for months as well, and as Omegas, they hadn’t interested him in the slightest.

It doesn’t come to a head until Zoro is in the middle of a fight, and when he goes to protect the crew (for always being so reckless, again), and when he successfully saves Nami from nearly getting stabbed and Usopp from getting thrown into a bonfire, Luffy swings by him with a laugh on his face and says, “That’s a good Alpha.”

And it drives Zoro to his knees before he even realizes his legs have buckled. He gasps, because Luffy just saying that so casually does things to Zoro that he can’t sort out in his head or deny any longer. The reaction is so visceral he thinks he actually pops a few blood vessels trying to make sure he didn’t run after Luffy like he wanted and purr into his neck like a stupid fucking kitten.

Nami and Usopp, of course, noticed the entire exchange and watch him strictly for the next few days. Zoro wants to tell them to buzz off, but their curiosity is justified. Zoro had so obviously been driven to his knees by a simple compliment like a besotted idiot when he has never done that before in his life. And he hates it. He hates himself for not being better at fighting off this feeling before it starts getting in the way of the crew’s dynamic.

Usopp doesn’t approach him about his brooding, but Nami, fearless in the face of everything, does.

“Why don’t you just tell him and get it off your chest? Stop being a loser and moping around the ship all day. All your sulking stinks.” She makes a point to plug her nose in emphasis, before walking away. He doesn’t even have a chance to lie and say he doesn’t know what she’s talking about before she’s gone.

He sighs, and determines he’ll train more until he’s too tired to do something stupid like thinking.

The third time it happens, Zoro almost knows it’s coming before Luffy even says it. He could see in Luffy’s eyes how pleased he was by how strong Zoro’s gotten, how dependable he was to everyone on the crew (even stupid Sanji). They’re at dinner, reunited after two years. It’s just the two of them for some reason, and they’re talking about the crew casually when Luffy comments that they really are surrounded by the best. Then he catches a glint in the Captain eyes and he just knows what comes next.

“Zoro’s also the best. He’s a good alpha.”

And the swordsman goes still because this is the third time Luffy has made Zoro’s insides twist in a way that’s almost painful with longing.

It’s only then Zoro realizes it’s only painful because Zoro doesn’t believe he’s a good alpha at all. A good alpha wouldn’t be lusting after his omegan captain. A good alpha wouldn’t feel empty and lonely at night because the side of the bed was a little too cold an unfulfilled. A good alpha wouldn’t be rendered completely helpless just by a silly little compliment.

He clenches his fist underneath the table, and chooses to ignore the comment.

But Luffy doesn’t. He never does.

“I want Zoro to be my Alpha.”

And Zoro’s brain just shuts down.

A part of him is elated.

The other part of him is terrified.

His fork clatters against the table and he freezes.

What the hell is he even supposed to say to that.

Yes, yes please. There’s hardly anything else I want more.

“You drank too much.” Zoro settles on saying because it’s an easy excuse and dismissal. If he doesn’t put much stock in Luffy’s words than they can’t totally upend him.

Except, his comment only pisses Luffy off.

The fight starts before Zoro really even has a chance to stop it. They’re outside the restaurant now, screaming at each other in a way they never had before. Zoro had tried to storm out when Luffy demanded why Zoro would ever think Luffy would take a comment like that so lightly, and Zoro just wanted to crawl out of his skin and die because he didn’t deserve this. He didn’t deserve Luffy. Not like this. He was hardly good enough to be the first mate, but this? So they yell and yell, and it gets to the point where they’re in each other’s faces, saying things they know will only hurt each other more and Zoro hates it. Zoe can’t stand it, because Luffy isn’t backing down and Zoro can’t fathom why.

“Why me?” He ends up shouting so loud it effectively silences the captain. Zoro’s angry. Not at Luffy. It’s hard to actually be mad at Luffy when the captain has pretty much just offered a marriage proposal over dinner. No, he’s mad at himself for messing this up, for going and falling for his captain when they should have been focusing on their dreams—

“Because you are my dream!” Luffy declares, “Because I can’t be Pirate king without the swordsman Zoro! I can’t be a captain without my first mate! I can’t be Luffy without Zoro! And I don’t want to be an omega if you’re not my alpha!” Luffy says it like it’s final.

And hell, maybe it is, because Zoro finally does away with all the doubts and insecurities and he gives in to what he’s been denying since before they briefly parted for two years.

“Fine!” He snaps like it’s the end of the world—and it is. It’s the end of the world Zoro used to know, and the beginning for a brand new one as he crashes their lips together and seals the freaking deal. Luffy groans into him, something full of impatience and relief because finally.

“Is Zoro done being a dumb alpha now?” Luffy asks when they pull apart. He’s still pouting and scowling, obviously still miffed by the initial rejection.

“Yes,” Zoro breathes and it almost sounds like a laugh, rumbling deep in his chest as his new future slots into place before his eyes, “I’ll be good for you, Omega.”

And this time he gets the distinct pleasure of watching Luffy go weak in the knees instead. It’s a sight he doesn’t think he’ll ever get used to.

Sanji: How did none of you hear what I just said? Luffy: I’ve been zoned out for the past two and a half hours. Usopp: I got distracted about halfway through. Zoro: Ignoring you was a conscious decision.
