He was whipped, slapped, beaten, stabbed, choked, had his hair pulled and cut, had his bones broken, burned, bitten, cut open, recorded, forced to say things like “I’m a loser, I quit, I’m no ninja, I’m a villain, I deserve to d*e, I’m a failure”, and he was laughed at*

Lloyd: *crying and begging* please k*ll me! Please k*ll me!!!! I give up! I can’t take it anymore!!! I can’t! I can’t! I can’t!!!

*he was no longer the legendary hero. He was showing what he was.

I 100% agree with your point. It’s obvious more abuse happened offscreen as well considering how Rumple was so timid around her and flinched at everyone. That’s not coward behavior, that’s a victim of an abuser.
