summary:ย When Camie Utsushimi elopes on the eve of her society debut, scandal threatens to destroy the familyโs prospects. Itโs up to you, a maid, to impersonate Camie throughout the Season, long enough that her elder sister can make a match. The only trouble? Lord Shouto Todoroki is also intent on making a matchโand that match, quite impossibly, appears to involve you.

Over the course of the ensuing weeks, your certainty only grew worse: you were developingย feelingsย for Lord Shouto.
You sent another letter to Camie, ashamed to tell her that not only had you continued the scheme against her express wishes, but now you were falling for the worst person possible. She wrote back, heartbroken to hear it, demanding once more you put a stop to things before they went too far.
But you couldnโt help yourself. You would never again get time with Lord Shoutoโyou wanted to revel in it as long as you could.
You reassured yourself that he meant to marry the princessโa rumor that was only growing stronger as the season crept onwards with no hint of a proposal to anyone from his cornerโand he meant only to use you as a deterrent to the other scheming misses and matchmaking mothers crowding the parlors and assembly rooms of Musutafu.
You hoped that once your own scheme was uncovered he wouldnโt hold it against youโwould understand that youโd liked spending the time with him, but had never desired to trap him in any sort of romantic understanding.
Lord Shouto made things so much more difficult for you by continuing to be so horribly good. He was kind and attentive, and so unexpectedly funny, you couldnโt help but fall harder.
He sought you out many times a week, taking you for several more promenades, insisting on a dance at every ball, and even took you riding in the park. He even let you take the reins when youโd reached an emptier stretch of road where no one might see you driving, showing you how to steer his set of bays and smiling that gentle smile when you got the hang of it and urged them to goย faster.
He called several times more, bringing another bouquet of flowers for youโtiny bright jonquils tangled with orange winter cherries, and hedged with short-trimmed fernsโthat you managed to squirrel away into your tiny bedroom without the Utsushimis seeing.
He was on your mind so constantly that you found yourself ducking into the haberdashery on an afternoon Miss Uraraka and Lady Asui had invited you out. An idea seized you as you had looked into the window, and you found yourself drawn over to the small selection of handkerchiefs for sale.
You didnโt have much in the way of spending money, sending most of it back to your family, but you had just enough to buy a linen square bordered in a dark blue. Miss Ochako and Lady Asui watched you almost too knowingly as you did.
You worked late into the night that evening, tucked up in your bed with embroidery thread and a book youโd ferreted out of the late Mr. Utsushimiโs study propped open in your lapโa Greek primer, with a tiny section on Ancient Greek. You found that their phonetic system did not align quite so neatly with yours, but you made do, stitching the closest approximation of Lord Shoutoโs name in the Greek alphabetโhow it might be spelled had he found himself there.
You hoped he would find it fun, and not too sillyโ-and that he would understand that you had liked him enough to think of him, even when your deception was uncovered.
Giving to him was another matter, however, as you found yourself too shy and girlish on the several occasions you saw him next. It stayed tucked away in your reticule, burning at your wrist.
You finally resolved to give it to him at a dinner party at Lady Cathleenโs, where you might hopefully be able to flee to the other end of the table and not speak to him for the rest of the night. Caroline had informed you that tables were set according to rank, meaning the Utsushimi family would find themselves at the foot of the table, with Lord Shouto all the way at the head.
In preparation, you donned the most secure of Camieโs gownsโwhich was not saying muchโbut you felt better for the more protective, higher neckline, the muted blue of its color which would draw little attention your way, for it almost bordered on the drab palette of married women or spinsters. You knew Camie had chosen it for the contrast it would draw to her largest, sparkliest choker of paste jewels, which you carefully ignored in favor of her smallest pendant.
You would be as well hidden as you could manage, at the other end of the table, and with any luck Lady Cathleen would dress her table with elaborately tall candlesticks and floral displays you might duck behind.
In fact, once you thought of it, you were almost certain you could hide Lord Shoutoโs gift at the table itself, that you might not have to confront him in person with the full force of both your stupidity and your regard for him. You wouldnโt even need to witness his expression upon its receipt.
It was with that thought that you stuck to the edges of the drawing room as guests crowded into Lady Cathleenโs estate, drawing as little notice as you could. You requested the restroom as soon as you were able, instead sneaking off towards the dining room to scout out Lord Shoutoโs place.
Exceptโas you scanned the head of the tableโhis place card was nowhere to be found. You knew he was comingโMrs. Utsushimi hadnโt shut up about it, and besides that, Lord Shouto had told you as much himself. Brow furrowing, you wandered around the table.
A little shocked thrill went through you to see his name next to Camieโs, towards the opposite end of the table he should have been. Camieโs name also had managed to come unmoored from the Utsushimi block that occupied the end of the table, several seats away from Caroline and Mrs Utsushimi.
You wondered at the specificity of the mistake, and then a thought occurred to you.
Wellโif thereย hadย been a mistake, it only made sense to use it to your advantage.
You quickly tucked your gift under Lord Shoutoโs place card, very carefully that it might only be seen once heโd moved it. And then you took your own place card away and carried it down the table to Carolineโs spot. Youโd just managed to replace hers with yours when a low voice carried across the room.
โI suppose I should be less surprised to find you in another deserted room.โ
You froze, arm still outstretched over Carolineโs seat, your eyes darting up to the entryway. Lord Shouto stood there, looking as preternaturally handsome as ever. The candlelight glinted off the white of his hair, burnishing it gold, and the shadows danced in the hollows of his cheeks, the divot under his full mouth. He was dressed in a dark gray dinner jacket, a cravat tied immaculately at his throat.
He took a step into the room, a white eyebrow raised.
โLord Shouto,โ you said hoarsely, quickly whipping Carolineโs card behind your back. Perhaps he hadnโt seen what youโd been up to. โIโitโs not what it looks like.โ
โThen you are not rearranging Lady Cathleenโs seating placards?โ he asked in his smooth baritone. He continued into the room, circling the table to you.
A hunted feeling crept over you. โIโitโs funny it should look that wayโฆbut I, umโฆโ
Lord Shouto drew closer, leaning in, and a gloved hand touched the place card in your fingers, tugging it gently from your grasp. He glanced down at it, a tiny smile touching his mouth. โYouโd not been about to seat Miss Caroline next to me, had you?โ
His gaze darted over to the middle of the table where his placard sat, like heโd already known thereโd been some mistake with his placement.
Hot embarrassment burned its way through your veins, and you snatched Carolineโs place marking out of his hand. โAs a matter of fact, the only empty spot is next to you,โ you said, attempting to make your way around him to put it down.
โAnd that would not be because you had already moved another place card, would it?โ Lord Shouto asked mildly, stepping in front of you so that you almost headbutted his chest. You backpedaled wildly, almost tripping over the hem of your gown.
โIโwhat proof have you?โ you demanded, trying your best to sound as though you hadnโt just done exactly that.
Lord Shoutoโs smile widened, a rare sight, and it sent a lick of heat right down your spine. You clutched a chair, aware of how stupid it was that aย smileย was about to send you into a swoon.
Those long fingers reached out and pulled Carolineโs place card from your grip again, and Lord Shouto produced your own, switching your places once more. โThe proof that I asked Lady Cathleen to seat me here, with you,โ he said simply.
A horde of butterflies exploded in your chest again, and your face went hot.
How could heย say things like thatย so easily? An ask like that was a clear declaration of his favorโsomething you very much did not deserve, all things considered.
โYour Grace,โ you said, in protest.
Lord Shoutoโs smile flashed white in the candlelight, a clever half-moon. โIt was you who doubted I might reign in my presumption by the end of the season. You should be pleased to find yourself proven right.โ
Pleased didnโt quite cover the breadth of emotion you were feelingโembarrassment, guilt, and pleasure all warred with one another in your chest.
โReally, I was doing you a favor,โ you insisted, gesturing at Carolineโs place setting. โShe is a great conversationalist, and very pleasing to look at.โ
โAs you have said perhaps hundreds of times,โ Lord Shouto acknowledged. โIt is just as well I can look at her from across a table.โ
You frowned up at him. โI am beginning to think you doย notย mean to find a wife, as youโd hinted.โ
Lord Shouto bent his head so he could lean closer, and your hip bumped the table as you stepped back, nervous with his sudden proximity.
โThen you did take my meaning that day,โ he said, his voice low.
Your skin prickled at the layer of intent in his tone.
โAnd I am only trying to help you now,โ you told him. โYouโll get very little mileage out of me as your dining companion, considering I cannot wed.โ
โCannot,โ Lord Shouto murmured, as if turning the word over in his mouth.
โCaroline can, however,โ you continued as though you hadnโt heard him. โAnd I understand she is a very desirable match. Sheโs acquired several admirers, you know, and you wonโt want to dally. There is a Mr. Awase who is very keen.โ
โYou say it as thoughย youย are not a desirable match,โ Lord Shouto said.
His words were like a thunderbolt, striking through you. The very idea of you as a desirable match!
You laughed, but Lord Shoutoโs face did not change, and he pressed even closer, close enough that you found yourself trapped against the table. Lightning zinged in your veins as you registered the heat of him over you, your blood singing with the thrill of a man so close.
โYou do not believe so?โ he asked. He was close enough that you could feel the exhalation of his words on your mouth.
Your head swam with the ridiculousness of the question, and the press of him so close. You scrounged around for an appropriate ripost, but then Lord Shoutoโs face drew even nearer.
Your breath seized in your chest, and you stared silently up at him, heart racing.
Outside, a loud laugh sounded, startling you, and you jumped, almost smacking your forehead into Lord Shoutoโs nose.
He dodged neatly, smiling ruefully and stepping away. But there was a light in his eyes like he was strangely satisfiedโas though heโd confirmed something.
โWe should go, lest we are discovered here, and your reputation compromised,โ he said. โYou should take your leave first.โ
You could tell he meant to prevent you from switching the place settings again once he was gone, and you squinted at him suspiciously. He looked far too pleased with himself, and his smile seemed to grow a fraction wider. It was your observation that his eyes slivered into little crescents when he truly smiled that finally sent you stumbling out of the dining room, your heartbeat tripping over itself.
You found your absence had gone unnoticed when you arrived back in the drawing room, though Lord Shoutoโs entrance was intently noted by every single set of female eyes. Several fans came out, flapping back immaculately coiffed curls, and Lord Shoutoโs face went politely blank.
You stifled a laugh at his expense.
Eventually you were let into the dining room and you found yourself at Lord Shoutoโs side once more. Lady Cathleenโs eyes flickered interestedly over you and tried not to look too strange or suspicious under her attentions.
You were pointedly studying the table linens with avid interest when you felt Lord Shouto stiffen beside you. Out of the corner of your eye you saw him draw the handkerchief out from under his place card, and you found you couldnโt lift our eyes to his face, too anxious of his reaction. You adopted a sudden fascination with the centerpiece to your opposite sideโuntil a gloved hand touched yours in your lap.
You startled, almost knocking over your water glass, fingers reflexively seizing on the hand that had touched you.
You glanced up at Lord Shouto as his own fingers tightened on yours, and found him smiling that tiny, private smile of his. His gaze was almost molten in the candlelight.
โI see rearranging the place settings was not your only objective,โ he said. There was a touch of pleasure in his voice, so rich and low. The sound made your blood fizz like a bottle of champagne had just been poured down your veins.
His hand shifted, his wrist resting on your thigh, and your breathing went shallow at the feeling of a manโs hand where it had never been before.
โIโyou might think itโs sillyโโ you groped for something to say.
โI can think of no gift I have ever liked more,โ he said.
The praise flooded through you in a warm wave of pleasure, and your ears went hot. โIโฆshould like if you would think of me fondly, after this season,โ you said.
Lord Shoutoโs brows creased, and that full mouth pursed a little in thought. You tried very hard not to think of kissing it.
โYou say that as if you do not plan we should ever see each other again,โ he said carefully.
A hot stab of panic lanced through you when you realized youโd almost hinted at the dissolution of your scheme. You searched for some response.
โIโthere is only one objective to the season,โ you said. โAfter a match is made, Iโll have no reason to return to Musutafu, unless my husbandโs estate is at a close enough remove.โ
โI thought you did not mean to marry?โ Lord Shouto asked. You almost jumped again when a server reached between the two of you to serve the first courseโa pale soup swimming with carrots and rice.
Fuck, that was right. You had said youโd not meant to make a match. โDo not worry, Lord Shouto. You are safe from any attempts on your virtue.โ
But Lord Shouto did not look at all reassured by this. โThen youย doย wish to marry?โ he asked.
You did not see a way around answering truthfully. โIโwell, yes, eventually,โ you admitted. You had at least had hopes at one point, before meeting Lord Shouto, before understanding that no other man might ever measure up. Gentry though he might be, youโd never felt as light-headed, as happy, as surprisinglyย comfortableย in another personโs presence.
You had not meant to feel quite likeย thisย about him.
โOne day, I should like to,โ you said, trying not to sound morose. One day, a long time from now, perhaps you would have enough distance that you might once again find the prospect of another man palatable.
Lord Shoutoโs gloved thumb smoothed over your knuckles, and you realized youโd still been gripping his hand. You reluctantly let go, but he seemed to feel no need to move his hand.
โOne day and the end of this season sound rather distant from one another,โ Lord Shouto said.
You stared into your soup to avoid having to look at him, guilt settling heavily in your stomach. โIt is complicated,โ you said. โAll there is to know, my lord, is that I plan this should be my last season in Musutafu. And that I should like you to think of me fondly, as I shall think of you. For all that you seem to insist on dwelling in darkened rooms, you have been a bright spot in this season.โ
You pointedly studied the silverware, wanting to start in on your soup to halt conversation, but found that you could not remember how Caroline had instructed you to dine. Was it outward in, or inward out?
Your hand hesitated over the silverware, and Lord Shoutoโs finally rose from your lap to press gently to the outward-most spoon.
โItโs this one,โ he said, leaning in. โOutward in.โ
That smile was back on his mouth, and it felt both private and conspiratorial, somehow. Like you shared a secret, though the only secret you had, really, was the one that he absolutely could not have known.
โOf courseโฆโ you said primly, like youโd just momentarily forgotten. But your heart warmed a little with his assistance and you couldnโt help the smile that wormed its way across your face in answer. โThank you.โ
Lord Shoutoโs eyes seemed to linger on your mouth for a long moment, before he murmured, โAnything I may give you.โ
And for a minute, it sounded like he meant more than just help with the spoon. Like he was offering something much larger, much more secret.
But of course that was nonsense. You waved him off, answering in turn. โYou are kinder than you know, Lord Shouto. I will remember that too, always.โ
You started in on your soup, feeling Lord Shoutoโs eyes lingering on you still.
But for the rest of the evening, you couldnโt shake the feeling that youโd just had a conversation with him whose parameters you did not truly fathom.
That Lord Shouto knew something he couldnโt.
But it wouldnโt matter, with the season so close so its end. You would just have to last a few more weeks.
ISAGI YOICHI was already enamoured from just the soft pink blush which glazed your cheeks, fingers wrapped around a small plastic bag as he looked down at you in surprise. Not once in his sixteen years of living had he ever received something on this somewhat momentous day, besides from a few mindless sweets from a classmate. So he was quite surprised when the person he had been secretly plotting on was standing right in front of him, heart bared to him and all.
His eyes flickered between your nervous expression and the high-quality handmade chocolates which were enveloped between your shaking fingers. A small smile found its way onto his lips, eyes crinkled endearingly as he let out a small chuckle, catching your attention.ย
He took the pink plastic bag into his own hands, admiring the sprinkle ridden sweets which it cased. He had already seen the candy which you had given to your classmates, a mere comparison to the ones he withheld now. It was cute - how every detail was perfected, down to the placement of a pearl-like sprinkle.ย
โIsagi, I-โ You stop yourself. Lips stuttered open and close, blush only deepening once his lips pulled into a smirk.ย
He let his head cock to the side, watching you with a curious eye as you fumbled over your words, over his name, unable to compose the jumble of thoughts running through your head. He took a step forward as your eyes trailed down to the floor again, fingers fiddling with the sleeves of your white uniform.
Honestly, he wanted to hear your confession fall from pink lips more than heโd like to imagine, which is why he found himself tugging you a bit closer, leaning into your ear to whisper,
โYou were saying?โ
He could almost feel the fire which seeped from your cheeks, finding seclusion pressed against his chest. Your face, flushed a pretty shade of burgundy, looked up at him curiously, somewhat surprised at the almost intimate arm he wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer.ย
Isagi had decided that, if you werenโt going to say it, then he would.
โDo you like me too?โ He mumbled softly, fingers brushing against your shirt-clothed arm as he tugged you closer. You nodded, and he pressed his lip together tightly, suppressing a sweet sound which threatened to bubble out of his throat. He was so captivated by everything about you, how you melted so perfectly against him.
Maybe thatโs why he found himself the next month, spending tireless hours tempering his own rich, delicate bonbons with a perfectly arranged bouquet of your favourite florals, sitting opulent, on the counter nearby.

Summary: (AU) In every lifetime, Sung Jinwoo will make sure to leave a mark on your soul. To always accompany you as your devoted husband to his lovely and cute wife, no matter what...
Watching from a distance, Sung Jinwoo slowly savoured the taste of the wine in his glass, his fingers clenching the fragile stem. He restrained his anger as he witnessed your betrothed humiliate you and revoke your engagement for his mistress. Painting you as a villain to everyone as that foolish of a man flaunts his infidelity called 'love'.
Sung Jinwoo couldn't help but sneer at them and find fate laughable.
He has always been determined to have you as his wife, no matter what. However, fate has a twisted sense of humour. It seems, that in order, for him to have you, you must first endure humiliation and a broken engagement.
If fate is going to play its hand, then don't blame him if he turns the situation to his advantage and claims you as his own. And as for those who have wronged you, they will face the consequences of his wrath.

Chapter 1 - Stupidity
In a banquet hosted by the royal family in the palace, your betrothed, the crown prince hugs his first love protectively in his arms and condemns you without hesitation in front of all the nobles in the kingdom.
A smug smirk on his lips as he looked down on you while you, on the other hand, glared up at him.
The anger that has built over the years was on the verge of breaking as your supposed fiance embarrassed not only you but your family with the breakdown of your engagement.
Your name is Eliana Anderson. You are the eldest child of the Anderson household and the prestigious and precious daughter of the Primes Minister Anderson of your kingdom.
Ever since you came of age, you have been betrothed to the crown prince by the king without your father's approval.
You're the only daughter in your family and your father has always doted on you so of course the matters of your betrothal have been a sensitive and meticulous topic to your father. Not wanting to give his precious daughter to some boorish, unruly bastards.
And so receiving a marriage decree from the king, accompanied by a threat to your family, made your father furious beyond belief that you and your mother worried he might faint from anger.
Your father protested with all his might to deny this engagement, knowing how corrupt the current royal family is and how uncontrolled and malicious the current crown prince is but to no avail; the king ignored him.
In the end, you didn't have a choice but to follow, not wanting your family to end up in a difficult situation by opposing the king.
The crown prince does share the same sentiment on not wanting this engagement; however, that didn't stop him from showing his disgust at you. In fact, he seemed to revel in the opportunity to humiliate you whenever the chance arose.
The torment he has shown you since the first day of your engagement has never ceased, and continues even to this day.
And now he's hellbent on not only humiliating you but also destroying and smearing your family's reputation through the mud.
Letting out a breath, you calmed yourself, knowing that acting hysterical wouldn't benefit you nor save your family from the predicament this prince has thrown at you.
However, the urge to slap this idiot prince was so dangerously tempting that you had to close your eyes, and instead, a cold smile appeared on your lips and looked at your 'fiance'.
"If I may ask Your Highness, what crime have I committed that warrants you painting me as a malicious villain in front of everyone?" You coldly asked, your smile darkening as your hand clenched tighter on the fan you were holding.
Suddenly, a coquettish voice interrupted, "Lady Eliana, please stop lying and admit to your sins. Please don't make this harder than it is."
It was the woman whom your fiance had 'fallen' for. A woman who has brown shoulder-length hair, dopey downturned eyes and dressed in a white gown that accentuated her slim figure.
She has that pure, innocent beauty that always seems to attract men who want to unconsciously protect her.
It was the crown prince's 'first love', Amy Wilson, the illegitimate daughter of Baron Wilson, who was currently nestled in your fiance's arms.
Cowering and trembling as tears gathered in her eyes, looking like a small doe in front of everyone as she tried to confront you, earning her sympathy and pitying looks especially the crown prince and his stupid group of cronies.
You, however, were given a dark and condemning look from them.
You couldn't help but spit in disgust in your heart as you coldly looked at her.
She's a woman completely opposite of you, who has sharp and cold eyes, and whenever you look at the crown prince, a lingering disgust shows in your eyes.
Your once slender and petite frame is now tall and lean, the result of the training you have suddenly undergone to learn self-defence as you were pushed as the crown princess.
Truly a complete opposite from your past self. No more the naivety and joy in your once soft features.
Hearing her words, you sneered.
"As far as I know Lady Tr- Lady Wilson, I have only given you fair warnings on your behaviour and to maintain your distance as Your Highness is my betrothed. As for the accusations of harming you, unfortunately, I do not know of them nor have I done them."
You said as you gave them a cold smile behind your fan, patting yourself for catching yourself from calling that woman 'trash'.
That right, you have labelled that woman 'Trash' the moment she seduced the crown prince and tried to harm you.
Why, you ask?
It's not because you love that rotten bastard but because, in your eyes, the crown prince is a rotten garbage. And since there is a rotten garbage, it only makes sense that it has to be thrown in the trash and that trash is none other than Amy Wilson.
Hiding behind the crown prince's arms, that trash gave you a sly look.
You couldn't help but feel a disgusting chill run down your spine as an unsettling feeling settled in your stomach.
As far as you know, your actions thus far have been appropriate as a crown princess. Neither have you crossed the line of letting your feelings interfere nor have you remained ignorant of the situation to let it escalate.
You didn't hurt this woman in any form, only giving her a fair warning and if you did, you have your servants to witness it. As for the 'evidence' they have presented earlier, if experts, the kings and higher people in ranks were to investigate it, they would know it was nothing but fraud.
It's nothing but false evidence made by both the crown prince and his stupid group of cronies who were supposedly the next heirs to some of the most influential families in your kingdom and yet have been seduced so easily under such a contemptuous woman.
Regardless, they were nothing but brats who only rode their family's coattails and were nothing but a nuisance, using their power to abuse those who were weak and under them.
Thinking so, you curse them again in your heart and tried to calm your nerves as cold sweat still continues to run down your back.
"We have given and presented undisputable evidence, Eliana. Stop your nonsense and admit to it." The crown prince spoke with impatience in his voice, shaking his head as if he were speaking to a child.
Your eyebrow twitched hearing him calling you by your name so directly with such audacity.
If it were any other situation, you would have refuted him without reserve however since you were in such a situation, you can't do so recklessly or else your entire family would be dragged further than it already is.
Suddenly, the crown prince caught your eyes and gave a malicious smirk before declaring.
"Since your actions show just how much of an unreasonable and vile you are. How could I accept you as the crown princess and be the future mother of the kingdom! Hence, as of today, Eliana Anderson, you are stripped of your title as the crown princess and from now on Lady Amy Wilson will be the crown princess. Guards! Arrest her and throw her into prison for the crime of harming the crown princess."
You stared, speechless, at the crown prince at such absurdity.
That is when the unsettling feeling you have since you entered this ball completely grasps your whole being as if a slap hit you on the face. A whisper in the back of your mind becomes louder and louder as you feel something within you is on the verge of breaking.
You have always known that the crown prince was a good-for-nothing bastard. A spoiled bastard who only does whatever he pleases but it wasn't to the point of complete idiocy especially when it comes to you as your betrothal was one of the stepping stones on why he became the crown prince however it seems you have overestimated him.
Feeling your arms being restrained by the knights, you struggled. Your control over your emotions slowly slips as your frustrations and anger show.
You tried to regulate your breathing as you looked at the bastard before you, smiling mockingly as you gradually cracked under him.
He turns his head to look at your father who is now being restrained by the knights also when he tried to charge in your defence. A sickening smile on his lips as he taunted your father.
"Ah, Duke Anderson, unfortunately, you'll have to step down from your position as well since the evidence of your embezzlement and illegal actions have been presented to the king. The king has also decided that Marquis Henlyn will be replacing you as the Prime Minister."
Hearing this you curse the crown prince at such an abrupt accusation.
Your father with embezzlement?! Illegal actions?! being replace?!
Such stupidity!
Your father has been nothing but upright and loyal to the kingdom and its people. If it wasn't for him, this kingdom would have long fallen because of its corrupt royal family!
And now he's being falsely accused!? And on top of it, your father is being replaced by Marquis Henlyn who has been rumoured to have smuggled weapons and slavery between your kingdom and the other countries!
Just what kind of parasite is in that bastard's head to have allowed this especially the king!
You gritted your teeth as you yelled, "Your Highness, do you even realize what you're doing?! If you allow this, not only you and the imperial family will be implicated but the kingdom and its people as well! You say my father has done illegal doings and yet haven't you heard that Marquis Henlyn has smuggled not only weapons but has done illegal trading of slavery of our people! My father has been nothing but loyal and honest! Evidence?! It is nothing but a farce! "
Surely even this prince knows how impossible it was to replace your father as his hard work is more evident than this so-called ' evidence'.
Your father's power and authority are the sole reason he's the current crown prince. Removing you and your father would be a foolish move even the king knows this thus the reason he has given that marriage decree without your family's permission and yet why this?!
However, it seems not only have you overestimated the prince but that of the king as well as the prince laughed at you and leaned down as he whispered.
"Do you really think my father cares about your family now that your father has crossed his line? Not only has your father obstructed the royal family again and again, but this time, my father has had enough and since I have gained your father's authority and power, I no longer have any need of your family and my father wholeheartedly agreed to it."
Realization dawned on you as your eyes widened at the truth. A small yet audible sound of snapping resounded in you.
Suddenly a loud heartbroken cry erupted in your throat as you struggled fiercely, no longer caring for anything or your appearance.
Annoyed by your resistance, one of the knights kicks the back of your knees, resulting in you slamming your kneecap onto the floor.
Pain shot through your body. Your eyes reddened and tears welled up, not only from the pain but your control over your bottled emotions have now dissipated.
Gone! Everything you have worked hard for is now gone!
You shook your head and bit your lips until it bleed.
No, this can't be happening!
Even if you hated the crown prince, your position as the crown princess was the only thing that you couldn't let go of.
After all, because of the marriage decree these unscrupulous, unreasonable people have shoved down your throat, you have no choice but to let go of him. Someone so important in your life was exchanged for something you didn't want.
Feeling your cheeks wet, you realize that your tears have finally fallen.
Regret fills you to the point of suffocation as your mind unconsciously remembers the young boy you adored the moment you met him.
How you wish to have held his hand longer...
A/N: I'm sorry for the delay. A relative of mine has passed away and it has been stressful and with work thrown in. It had been chaotic instead which made it harder for me to write and edit.
Though I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of the Serendipity Series! If it's not too much, please comment on your thoughts. Thank you!

๊ฑสษด: Your father, Shota Aizawa is about to be enlisted for the war against his will, along with the most able-bodied oldest man in every home in your village. Given his disability though, letting him fight in the war only means death- so you do what any other loving daughter would do- you disguise yourself as a man and fight in his stead. But what do you do when you find yourself falling for the commander of your troop, especially when he's taken such an interest in you after you beat him at a sparring match.

แด/ษด: Is this very Mulan-esque? Yes. Is that on purpose? Also yes. Obviously, it's a little different though, but I'm really excited to see how this turns out!! It's kinda within the fantasy genre, but this is more like medieval times with fantasy elements if that makes sense. Anyways, if you want to join the taglist, lmk!
