It's Always Funny In Sillydelphia
You know, since it's Pride Month (and also I miss them), I feel like reminding everyone how fucking important Ruby and Sapphire were.
The way they were both unambiguously conceived as queer characters and let the writers make an established character queer retroactively. The fact that as soon as they share the screen, they immediately show how in love they are, without any ambiguity to please the censors, and they do that almost every episode they're in.
How their relationship isn't always 100% perfect, and they do conflict and fall out, but make up in the end because they genuinely love each other. How they were allowed to be iconic parts of the show, not just through being the focus of two of its most famous songs (Stronger Than You and Here Comes A Thought) but also through the book version of The Answer.
The fact they got the first gay kiss...
...and the first gay wedding in the history of kid's TV.
The way their reception showed networks that yes, people do enjoy media with queer characters, and so they contributed to many other series with prominent LGBTQ characters getting greenlit.
I honestly don't think it's exaggerating to say they're among the most important queer characters in the history of fiction for all that. And people need to say it more, and demand stuff like them more.
Are there tales in those walls ? finally finished colouring my Cinderellas castle tribute piece and I'm so happy with how it turned out. This will be debuting at MCM London comic con next weekend with some other goodies
so mac was known as ronnie the rat in high school and in "Mac Kills His Dad" even his parents know him to be a rat and specifically tell him NOT to be one. what if it was mac who ratted out his dad, not even on purpose just by saying the wrong thing and never knowing when to shut up, and that's why luther got sent to prison. and that's what ruined his relationship with his parents forever (not that it was a loving healthy relationship to begin with but from the christmas episode we know it had its nice moments that mac latches on to as proof that his parents love him). anyways that's just a theory #mytheories
“What’s with all the noise, you okay?”
Collab with Ghost!
mac's love for dogs, who are seen as companions and often deemed "a man's best friend", contrasting his parents' physical and emotional absences in his childhood vs. charlie's love for cats, who are typically solitary creatures, contrasting bonnie's overbearing parenting that suffocated him.
the beginning of the gang misses the boat is one of my favourites: mac is vibing to hollaback girl, frank and charlie are eating worms, dee has a fake mustache and pretends to be a captain and dennis is applying mascara and then he rides into the river
tomorrow's not coming
i can't hold onto angst for too long bc ella ashmore should never be sad ever again so consider this as well
My desire to see the foster girls happy + my soul-deep need to put paul matthews in situations have collided in a cataclysmic and frankly irreversible way and i've decided i'm going to make it everyone's problem. what you're telling me this man doesn't deserve a "world's okayest dad" mug ???
i've fine-tuned the lore to this incredibly silly au yapping abound under the cut
the gist is pam is both lex and han's mom but only paul is hannah's father. it was a one night stand which didn't go well (that's the last time paul ever gives in to ted's goading to "loosen up" and "do something crazy"). paul eventually takes lex in and adopts her because of the few times he's seen the way pam treat her + he wants the sisters to be able to grow up together. Normal Man went from a recent college graduate in a brand new job with no immediate plan or intention to have kids to a seasoned father of two in the span of like a year. idk but if u ask ME this is the universe's way of saying paul matthews was meant to be a girldad he's just unlocking his full potential
