A: It's because Lithuania stood form and refused to convert during the Teutonic Knights' quest to convert all heretics, and he was forced to compete in wrestling matches and stuff and got his add handed to him. Lithuania converted to Catholicism when he was unified with Poland though...

Sans is 100% a mother. That man brothered so hard he actually mothered. When they get to the surface and Papyrus learns about Mother's Day, he definitely buys Sans flowers and takes him to a fancy diner (olive garden) because Sans was the one who took care of him, always made sure he was safe and okay, and always encouraging him.
