My new comic, VISCERA OBJECTICA, is now up for PRE-ORDER! ( $15 usd. click above to learn more, and to see more random pages!)
A humble tailor is very skilled at his work, but finds the complex patchwork of love painful to stitch together. One day, he visits a farmers market and is drawn to a beautiful puppet, whose vendor utters only: “His name is Theu.” Though the puppet is inanimate, the tailor inexplicably falls for Theu, day by day finding that patchwork of love no longer painful. Viscera Objectica explores the depth of feeling that develops between man and object, lover and loved.
“doing maintenance on your android is analogous to sex” is fun but i feel like a better analogy is that it’s like showering together. they’re perfectly capable of removing their panelling and resoldering their wires themselves; it’s a trivial task for a robot, simple daily maintenance, but it requires a deep familiarity and understanding of their specific layout and components and wiring format, all the stuff humans have a hard time remembering. but if your android lies down on the bench, pops their hatch, and allows you to perform this little act of intimacy for them? they trust you to know them, know how to take care of them — inside and out.
Okay, I do still like Kida and I realize she doesn't know, but as someone who had to wear glasses in order to function (still do sometimes) this scene always annoyed the SHIT out of me because….you just don't do this.
Also, I think Milo may be sensitive to light or something. Look at his eyes before his glasses go away. Wide open:
Now look at his poor eyes throughout this interaction. Half open at most:
And then look when he gets his glasses back on. BAM! Eyes wide open again:
He can open them more in the darker room where he receives the Journal, until he looks at the fire:
Just something I noticed, being light sensitive myself.
