Beneath the Northern Lights

Summary (excerpt included below):

Four years have passed since the war began, and Lukas is so tired that he has forgotten what it feels like to be truly awake. As the Kingdom of Norway gradually loses ground, Lukas is forced to sacrifice more and more so that his country may survive another day.

Four years have passed, and Lukas fears for the future. He fears for Norway, for Denmark, for Magnus.

Most of all, he fears that he will never see Magnus again.

Lukas,

Please forgive me if you find this letter rushed. I do not have much time; I must leave soon to help mediate pay negotiations with a group of mercenaries. I apologize, for there is no tactical reason for my penning this letter to you, and so it may very well seem like a waste of time.

It seems like an eternity has passed since those first stirrings of war. In the past two years especially, I have grown weary, and I know that you have as well. Feliks and Toris are not faring very well either, and I believe that even Berwald grows tired, even though he may be too proud to admit it.

I cannot help but wonder if the best choice at this point is to surrender, as my strength wanes and the mercenaries grow less and less inclined to cooperate. However, more is at stake here than my own well-being.

Lukas, I fear for the future. I fear for myself, for my people, for your people, and for you, most of all. How much more can we take before Berwald and his forces finally force us to our knees? Believe me, Lukas—I want to continue this fight, but I fear that we cannot.

If this war continues for much longer, I fear that we may never see each other again. I entreat you to believe me when I say that I regret the way our last conversation ended, and that now, I only wish to see you one more time. I know that we must not lose hope. I know that all is not lost; I am simply so tired that I worry I cannot continue.

I do not want this to be the end. I want to see peace one day, but I fear that this war will take so much from us—from all of us, even Feliks and Toris, even Berwald—that there will eventually be nothing left.

Min elskede, if I fall—if Denmark falls—promise me that you will not fall with me. If I fall, promise me that you will do whatever is necessary to survive, even if you must sacrifice your own dignity.

I am truly sorry, Lukas. I hope that we can see each other again.

I've been thinking about the whole situation that happened to frukmerunning. Though I don't know exactly what happened, I thought, what if all us Hetalians who support her band together!? What if we drew art, made fanfics, edits, ect. of her favorite ships!? Like a tribute in a way and a possible way to welcome her back if she ever does come back? I don't know, it was just a thought, but either way, Imma make some ItaPan art for her! ^.^

Hi!

So I have been very inactive recently, which is because of many things but the main reason is too little inspiration. I have been stuck drawing four different styles, and now want to focus more on a single style instead of many. The problem I’m facing now, Is that I don’t know which style to draw more of. Therefore I’m asking you guys for help. Here you can see a display of my four different styles (all of them are quick sketches of Norway, so they are not perfect. I usually spend at least three times the time I spent on these on my actual drawings):

(Number 1 is a style I’m actually doing a challenge with, but that will come later this month).

I was too lazy to draw number four, so I just took one of my older drawings.

So If anyone has opinions on which one I’m gonna work more on, please tell me. I’m kinda desperate. (Also please remember that these are quick sketches, so don’t take them too seriously. I will work more on my actual sketches)

I dont really like making rebloggable posts but I haven’t seen anyone mention them yet: terracotta heaters are really easy and effective DYI heaters for cold emergencies and I think it might be helpful considering, you know

TDLR, place a candle of any size down, and put a terracotta pot (as large as possible preferably) over it, with something non-flammable and balanced to keep the bottom an inch or two off the ground, like bricks. 

The candle will heat the terracotta, which will put off heat, while the space underneath lets smoke out and oxygen in. I’ve used these all 3 times we had outages here in Maine during blizzards to keep my aquariums warm, the weather outside had been easily -20 F with high winds, and not only was I cozy, that shit kept the water 10 degrees above room temperature. If it can heat the aquariums, it’ll heat a small room.

They work so much better than you’d think, the heat they put off is insane. Obviously be careful because smoke and open flame, but they’re very easy to make and just need an eye kept on them on all times.

 Don’t touch the heated pot bare-handed, it’ll burn like a motherfucker, they get VERY hot. Use thick oven mitts or layered rags to remove pot, put the candle out first if you can manage. Don’t do more than one or two in a non-ventilated or closed room, it’s still making smoke and that can make it harder to breathe.
