Summary: (Inspired by episode 5 but derives from canon) Marc and Steven can’t seem to get along with each other or agree on anything. As a telepath, you think you might be able to help them see a different side of each other. But what was uncovered was not what you expected.

He stared at the wall of the hotel room, the dark red bricks burning into his mind as he tried to distract himself from the memories. Harrow. Ammit. Without Khonshu’s powers, he wasn’t able to stop the God from awakening, and she funneled her powers into Harrow until they consumed his entire being. Harrow couldn’t hold all the power that Ammit had suppressed for thousands of years, and atom by atom he was ripped apart until it was like he never existed. Marc remembered watching as the man died, blood-curdling screams ringing in his ear as he lay in the water of Ammit’s tomb, his blood turning the light blue into a sea of red. Thankfully the bullet had only grazed his shoulder, nothing fatal. 

“[Y/N]!” He had called, the water filling his shoes weighing him down as he tried to stand up. He ignored Steven’s reflection in the water as he raced to where you crouched on the floor next to the sarcophagus. 

You didn’t know what had triggered it, but Marc began to dissociate, his calls for you slowly coming to a halt. Soon later, his face looked up, eyes locking with yours. But a different voice slipped out.

“A-Are you alright? Are you hurt?” Steven stammered with a shaky voice. He gently cupped your cheeks and ran his thumb over your skin.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m okay,” you whispered softly to him, leaning into his touch. “Just a little startled, I guess. I thought we could stop this, save everybody, including Harrow. Guess I’m not the hero I thought I was.”

“You are a hero, you’re an Avenger-”

“Former Avenger.”

“[Y/N],” Steven sighed, “You’re my hero. You’ll always be my hero.”
