Well, damn it... there's a lot if scenes I could talk about so this is a hard choice for me to make...
Okay, I'm picking Not Red, Black. It's one of the fics that I wrote that centers around Miruko and at the time, I dabbled a little into horror elements than the usual comedic and lighthearted ones I go for. The fic as a whole was just a sequel I just came up with on the fly because why not and wanted to see if I could write it. Sometimes, I do like to challenge myself and write a tone and a genre I'm not used to. Indeed, it was difficult and while I don't think I fully captured a "horror" kind of feel, I still say this is one of my better fics that isn't in my usual style.
One section I like to talk about is this scene!
It's evident, Miruko inhabits the "blood knight" trope. She's down for a good fight, doesn't mind the pain or anything.
Here I kind of wanted to take that part of her and twist in a way where it's almost opposite, I guess, of how she is in canon. She really doesn't show any negative feelings to fighting or killing someone, just that it's something she has to do because she has a duty. She doesn't want to have regrets.
For this scene, I still wanted to hone in that love for fighting she has and view she has on killing and make her question it. She doesn't feel joy, but at the same time she does. It confuses her. She's not sure how to feel, but she knows she feels something about ending a life to protect herself (she was attacked).
Also, colors. I'm sure you noticed that the title has "red" and "black" in it. While I do mention other colors, those two colors are emphasized a lot more in the fic. For this particular scene, I hoped to have captured this imagery of Miruko just sitting in a huge void of shadows that represent her self-doubt and corruption.

this is your thanksgiving reminder that the chinook tribe is still fighting for federal recognition, which means they are unable to access programs and resources. please take some time today to sign their petition and donate if youâre able to. and if you live in washington or oregon please write to your elected officials.
This tweet had me absolutely flabbergasted twice because I read this and I was like "Dame Aylin? The tall, blonde, supermodel demigoddess? How is she at all outside of the beauty standard? This is stupid" and then I scrolled down and there were a hundred replies by straight dudes who were calling her ugly and talking about anime women they prefer
nothing will ever amaze me the way fanfiction authors do. like, you wrote silly little stories about my favorite little guys? and i can read them?? for free??? thatâs fucking wild.
you poured your heart and soul and very being into your writing and then put it out there for anyone to read? insane.
you spend a truly incredible amount of time writing novel-length, high quality stories, again, FOR FREE, that anyone can read, again, FOR FREE??

today marks day 111 of the genocide in gaza.
and i need you all to keep in mind just how dire the situation in gaza is right now. and to keep talking about it. now is not the time to turn away.
today i want to talk about khalil again. yesterday, khalil posted about how his aunt passed away and they went to the graveyard to bury her, only to find thousands of tents in the cemetery. the people living as refugees in rafah have been so jam packed that theyâve started sheltering at the cemetery.
in a heartbreaking sentence, khalil says âthey are living in the cemetery, waiting for their time to be buriedâ. can you imagine the situation one has to be in to say something like that?
not only do the gazans not have a safe place to live, they are also starving and suffering from diseases and lack of medication. in fact, thatâs the cause of khalilâs auntâs deathâbad food and no medicine.
the people of gaza barely have food to eat. the children have to clean dirt and insects off animal feed before milling it to make food. medicine isnât coming into the gaza strip. there are pharmacies all around but none can help because they do not have the means to. why?
because israel consistently denies shipments of vital aid. in fact, according to the UN, israel recently added insulin pens for children to the list of prohibited items that are not allowed into gaza. this list also includes other medicines for chronic illnesses are also not allowed [here is the full press conference for anyone whoâs interested].
this claim is also backed by the report journalist motaz azaiza was making as he was evacuating gaza of a plethora of aid trucks waiting at the border to enter gaza. and for the little bit of aid that is available to gazans? yesterday the israeli military opened fire at starving citizens who were queueing to get aid in northern gaza.
there are too many heartbreaking stories coming out of gaza; there is at least one per person, in a population of 2.2M people. i urge you to not turn away from hearing their stories and facing the reality of the crimes being committed against them by israeli occupation forces.
whatever anyone else might say, whatever the verdict of tomorrowâs hearing may be⌠i want you to remember that whatâs happening in gaza is nothing short of a genocideâa collective total of 33,360 deaths, and 64,150 injured. donât let them just be numbers. these are people.
people who are not just being killed in cold blood, but are also being starved. they are being tortured physically and psychologically. they are being subjected to illnesses with no treatment given. they are being subjected to eating things like grass, immature food, expired food. read the euro med monitor report for the full picture of the destruction happening in gaza at the hands of the israeli occupation forces.
this is a genocide. this is one of, if not the deadliest of war crimes weâve seen in the 21st century.
i am so heartbroken i barely have the energy to type today. please call for an end to all of this, for a permanent ceasefire. and subsequently an end to the israeli occupation.
we cannot leave the palestinians to fend for themselves and continue being oppressed directly or indirectly by their oppressors and colonisers. this occupation must end. palestine must be freed in its entirety.

ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE
please especially send donations to help supply aid and food to gazans. especially to the organisations working within gaza. itâs not like there isnât any food at all. gaza is not a barren land. the food is just inaccessible and very expensive and unaffordable for most gazans (if you follow journalist muhammad smiry, youâll see he posts a lot about the atrocious prices of food in gaza). so your donations help people purchase food in bulk within gaza and supply to the civilians.

Terminal Hanaki? Boring. Chronic Hanahaki? Exciting.
Just so like... it's clear... anyone who censors words that contain "man" or "men" to anything like "xxn" that's TERF shit.
Any reference to women/womanhood that solely revolves around having a uterus or "womb" is TERF shit.
Any sentence where the OP says they support people being "trans identified" with quotes around ""transwomen"" or ""transmen"" is TERF shit.
I'm seeing a lot of you baby Tumblr gays out there not knowing what these specific TERF dogwhistles look like.
"Wombxxn" is an incredibly dumb way of spelling "woman" that treats the word "man" like a slur and also reduces women to their ability to give birth.
"Trans identified" is their way of saying "this person calls themselves trans, but I don't believe they are."
Saying "People should be allowed to identify however they wish, but we still need to protect women/children" IS TERF SHIT.
Learn to identify this garbage, because not all TERFs are going to spell out their intolerance for you. Some of them are going to try and seem reasonable and polite and normal, and it's fucking dangerous to our community.
Also unpack any internalized transphobia and your transmedicalism, because both those things will have you quickly siding with TERFs and bigots.
