I think if the og4 polycule ever became a thing it would happen in the messiest way possible. Like there are any number of ways it could go down but let’s say for arguments sake it happens like this: Cole and kai get together first. Jay immediately becomes irritated and bitchy and is constantly complaining that they need to get a room when they are doing literally anything within touching distance of each other, and it’s not because he’s jealous it’s just that it’s totally unfair because he’s had a crush on Cole for forever and now Kai just steals him? And seeing them together is leading to a whole rush of new feelings towards the second person in that relationship that he’s not willing to look at too closely because that will just complicate things further which is the last thing he needs so instead he just directs all his irritation at kai until literally everyone is pissed off at him. And then Cole is with Kai and happy about that but also feeling a bit guilty because he’s been aware of his crush on zane for ages and even if he’s with Kai now and likes Kai a lot that crush hasn’t exactly… gone away even though it’s clear by now that he’s never going to reciprocate and does that make him a bad boyfriend?
