Rough day of being cute
the point of the trolley problem isn't a numbers game. it's a responsibility game. the single person tied to the alternate track was never in danger, was never going to be in danger, and would have lived if you weren't there. choosing not to pull a lever is choosing to shed responsibility. choosing to pull it makes you directly responsible for that one person's death. could you take that? could you look a family in the eye and tell them that the death of their loved one saved a mere five people, that *you killed someone* for a mere five people? it's not an exchange. it was never an exchange. it has always been about you, holding a lever, with a choice to make, nothing to lose, and six people on the line.
when i was a kid i got a 90% on my kindergarten "what are your favorite things?" test because for the question "what is your favorite animal?" i wrote down "puma" and it got marked wrong because my teacher said a puma isnt even an animal its a kind of shoe
i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.

there is something to be said for going to zoos and aquariums on weekdays to avoid school-aged crowds but going to the aviary on a weekend is fun because going into big greenhouses and watching toddlers who just learned to walk encounter loose tropical animals taller than they are is part of the overall experience for me.
to me a three year old is just as much an entertaining and strange beast as an egret. and here they can interact directly. incredible.
