All The "I Would Have Also Dated Dorian Gray Knowing How Morally Bankrupted He Is. Have You Seen Him?"

All the "I would have also dated Dorian Gray knowing how morally bankrupted he is. Have you seen him?" posts annoyed me a little but I thought they were just jokes and didn’t think much of them...But were they really? With the amount of people on the internet arguing how "books are not political" and debating how characters like Batman would be republican I am not so sure anymore.

Could someone please recommend some good tragic Rhaenicent fics? I’m open to any length, and they don’t even need to be endgame—I just want something tragic, painful, and gut-wrenching. I’d even accept fics that aren’t explicitly romantic, as long as they love each other more than they should and their relationship is colored by their envy, hate, and everything in between.

For example, an AU where Rhaenyra survives, but all her children are dead, so she visits Alicent in her tower—not just to torment her, savoring her slow descent into madness, but also because she craves her company. She still loves this woman in front of her, even as she hates her for everything she is and has done.

Do you get what I mean? I want it to hurt, I want it to bleed, and I want madness—whether it’s mine or theirs, it doesn’t matter.

This episode is so beautiful that I don't know what to cry about - the beauty and perfection or for the horrors of it all.

I don't want him to die because I hate him but because he is one of my favorite characters on the show.

I understand what op means and have nothing against people who agree but I want to present a different point of view.

I want him to be the character with most screen time this season (maybe with the exception of El) and I want as many story arcs for him. Revealing what happened in the upside down all these years ago and how he survived, more of him spying on Vecna, him in trances fighting or running from One in his mind, being the best with guns after Nancy and Hopper and owning it, some more trauma we didn't know about, Birthday gate, him with powers? I want everything they can give us.

I want the writers to flush him out, show us how much he has been through and how he is still fighting even after everything. I want him full of hope, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for a first time in a long time, finding strength to dream and have hopes for tomorrow again, finding himself, feeling like himself amongst the people he loves, happy, content and holpfull.

Then I want him to die. I don't want him to die in just any way. I want him to sacrifice himself to save everyone (bonus points if it was the only way to end it all) but not because he doesn't have anything to live for or because he is depressed and alone. I want him to sacrifice himself because he has hope. Hope that everyone else will survive, finish it and live good, fulfilling lives even if he isn't there anymore.

I want to see his end as the very opposite of how he was in the beginning of the series. Whereas when he was taken he was afraid, helpless and desperate to survive by the end of S5 he should be confident, hopeful and in peace with his demise.

In the beginning, he was taken against his will, and he had to run and hide to survive. In the end, he stops running and hiding, not from monsters but from himself and who he really is. (Maybe he had known for a long time that he had to die to stop the Upside down and Henry but was too afraid but now he is ready.)

I don't really want him to die but there is something poetic about the series starting and ending with him. If they really do a good job with his character and arc and then kill him I will be at peace (emotionally broken but still) but if he lives but they don't do much with his character I will be disappointed.

There are many things a character can be worse than death and one of them is irrelevant.

He thought he was a mistake… his own dad called him slurs… he survived in the upside down by himself… kids bullied him at school… he was in love with his best friend… castle byers was his only safe place… he still didn’t know his life could turn even worse… and yet there’s people that want him to die in s5

He Thought He Was A Mistake… His Own Dad Called Him Slurs… He Survived In The Upside Down By Himself…

The way the fanfiction version of Vi made its way into the show like this is girl more devastated over her relationship with Caitlyn, but not the loss of her sister? Her baby sister who she held in her arms after she was born? The one she spent every waking moment in jail thinking about for SEVEN years, but doesn’t even feel conflicted about killing her?

Vi doesn’t even say anything about her sister’s mental state. She literally calls her a psycho????

Why is she okay with strangling her sister???? Why did they write that in?????

Vi has more empathy for Piltover and Caitlyn's mother than she does for her own people. Being an enforcer is such a non issue for her. No real self reflection on her past. No grieving for the loss of her family.

Vi’s writing takes hit after hit (literally). Her entire character is downgraded and reduced to centering Caitlyn.

Vi/Jinx/Caitlyn conflict completely flopped and pushed to the side.

I love Caitvi, but I’ve been really struggling to come to terms with Vi’s writing. Reading fanfiction and seeing how Vi is constantly mischaracterized only to see it makes its way into canon version of the show is really disappointing.

I feel like Amanda’s bias for Caitvi came through.

One cool thing about being asexual is that your self worth is completely independent of how attractive you are. I don't have to give a single shit about whether there's anyone on God's green earth who wants to fuck me because there's not a single person I want to fuck. I'm free. I'm also hot as fuck but it's completely irrelevant. It only matters to the extent that it lets me get away with not caring about how I look

Spoilers for Arcane S2 Act III

If I had a nickel every time 2 characters start on bad terms only for one of them to save the other in the very same episode which kicks of their friendship which is essential to their arcs and makes the one saved a better person and helps him achieve everything he has ever dreamed of and more while the other slowly loses himself, disregarding his own morals for the greater good while working in the shadows towards their shared goal but gets tunnel vision and forgets himself (which leads to the destruction of everything he worked for) and they are referred to as/called the two sides of the same coin and at the end they hold one another as they/one of them die (and btw one of the characters is in relationship with this badass woman he doesn't deserve but still choses to spend his last moments in the presence and only thinking about the sassy twink that has been there for him for years) and they don't kiss, it isn't outright stated that they love each other romantically but there is love, it is beyond friendshp, brotherhood or partnersip, they are soulmates...

I will have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but...

I CAN"T TAKE IT ANYMORE

It is very telling that they decided to end the show with "I am the dirt under your nails".

vi got colonised tbh. it gives me that feeling when a rich white old man gets with a young SEA lady, brings her to britain and she only gets to see her family through facetime, and that's also the only time she speaks her native language because her man refuses to learn it

cait basically erased vi's identity as a zaunite. she loved vi in spite of that, instead of as a part of her. like how she told vi that she's not like the other zaunites, and saying 'i thought you were one of us' fully expecting her to step away from her people.

vi's been assimilated into piltover, even going against her own ideals by becoming part of the people (enforcers) who killed her parents, who were responsible for executing the systematic oppression of zaun. yet caitlyn's never assimilated into zaun, never even stepping foot into zaun beyond the first caitvi meeting and later when she was gassing the citizens. the show ended with vi living with caitlyn in the top 1% of piltover; no mutual exchange of culture. caitlyn never had to change her mind about zaun the way vi changed her mind about piltover, and remained oblivious to her own privilege and her family's legacy on zaun.

it's just that the sacrifices vi has made for cait, on her identity and on a moral level, has been completely one-sided. this, the imbalanced power dynamic and caitlyn's subtle prejudice against zaun (*) have never been acknowledged in the show. so for them to get back together and have their happy ending without some sort of introspective reflection feels. very uncomfortable. feels like cognitive dissonance.

(*) i say subtle because other than the warcrimes moment, cait often voices her opposition to extreme measures against zaun. however, she supports 'no extreme measures' and 'they are people too' as normative ideas, not really having the ability to recognise the violation of these ideas when it's in front of her and especially not when she's the one violating them. there's constantly an undercurrent of subconscious prejudice in her attitude towards zaunites, and just, a real lack of understanding
