There are wayyy too many middle aged white men on my xiaohongshu feed.
I’ve tried to block people and mark videos as uninterested but my feed will not go back to cute makeup tutorials 😭
I need to find a way to block TikTok refugee tag it’s super annoying.
I used xiaohongshu like Pinterest and now it’s just not that anymore.
Naruto is fucking insane bc as someone who's never actually watched the anime, I'll have just THE gayest shit pop up on my dash of Sasuke and Naruto, and when I go "oh hey nice edit, this looks really good" I FIND OUT ITS CANON OFFICIAL MEDIA DIRECTLY FROM THE ANIME??? Insane. How did they get away with that.
Chainsaw man fucking sucks but the first chapter was so good. Denji was a decent character but the moment his ambitions (touching girls bodies) was revealed, it ruined his character. Him explicitly viewing the women around him as sex objects is awful. He doesn’t even really care if he dislikes them, he just wants to touch their breasts. The male author can’t help himself and justifies it by having the female characters act in a way that women would not act like and feed into his perversions. Not to mention, the story is MID. It wasn’t even worth the read for the story.
I just saw portions of the Aerith gold saucer date.
All I have to say is that it made me tear up, and I kinda wanna cry the more I think about it.
It’s hard to describe in words how I felt when I saw the date and the context behind everything in that date, but it was very intimate and I like the direction that it went.
Tifa’s date is so spectacular and out there but Aerith’s is so quiet. Tifa’s is like the climax of a Hollywood movie and Aerith’s I swear reminds me of those indie movies like 100 days of Summer or Lost in Translation but way more intimate. They both work in their own unique ways.
Both of them are very intimate in their own unique ways but something about Aerith’s date makes me wanna cry. It’s all about, what it could have been. They mean so much to each other but Aerith won’t say anything. She will accept the path in which she plays into Cloud’s future. If you know, you know.
That’s all I’m going to say. Don’t come for me, I like both main ships - I like both of them for different reasons.

YESS
I feel like no one acknowledges that realistically, the two weren’t going to work well together in an environment where there are higher stakes. They both have different life philosophies among other things.
It’s a general life lesson everyone learns but that’s not the point of LC but an interesting aspect/deconstruction of the best friend trope working together.
Was not able to go to AX but found this from someone who did on reddit.
This is one anecdote from the director regarding the show.
"...regarding the choice/dynamic of having 2 male MCs: having observed many other media, Haoling decided that splitting 1 protagonist into 2 characters would make for better storytelling. by giving the characters only half of what they need, their abilities are more grounded, they are forced to cooperate socially, it gives the audience more entertaining and dynamic banter, and they must build trust in order to effectively accomplish tasks."
Love this statement. When I would explain to my friends why people should watch LC, I would say its a time travel show with an unique premise. There are two main leads. Imagine both are trying to ace a midterm (you can pair up with a buddy lol). One person has the paper & pencil and the other has the answer key. They can't ace the midterm alone without the help of each other's resources - so they must to work together to ace the test because they can only do it once. What seems like a simple example gets applied to solving puzzles/mysteries and finding data.
The interesting part is that the main leads have very different approaches to accomplishing the tasks that they are given. Even though they were friends for a long time, when serious things happen like working a job together, they struggle with their different mindsets and it causes a lot of strife between them.
Slowly, there became a lack of trust between the leads as both of them start to withhold info from the other. That makes it worse and it hits a boiling point.
Something so simple that happens all the time in real life yet is often never depicted in such a real sense, particularly in an animation format. I like the style of anime but I want my stories to be grounded. I want to see my struggles on the screen.
It's also kinda validating to see a friendship fall apart once you decide to become co workers with one another and realize that just because you two both like basketball, doesnt mean maybe you should run a high-stress somewhat illegal business together right after uni to pay off debt :/
After reflecting on the Buddy daddies finale, the only loose thread was what Miri thought about her two dads.
Does she believe they’re just roommates who will platonically raise her for the rest of their lives? How are her dads seen by her classmates?
Why didn’t they animated a scene when some kid in pre school asks her why she has two dads? Im sorry but there is no way in the 11 years she has been with both Kazuki and Rei, did that question never come up. She lives in Japan, where everyone values conformity. Why is no one questioning her and her family?
I know my questions won’t be answered because of the show’ no homo status. I’m so sure that it’s an unspoken fact in the show that everyone in the show just believes Kazuki and Rei are Miri’s baby sitters - even if it means for life.
If Japanese people (who don’t leave their country) think anything similar to Chinese people (who don’t leave their country), gay people aren’t real so it will never cross their mind at all. Unironically no homo folks.
Banana fish started off good but got repetitive by the end
I always saw Ash and Eiji as best friends but I do see the romantic subtext between them
Ash is asexual. VERY ASEXUAL.
I wish Eiji was cooler, I never got into his character even until the end
I find Eiji an underwhelming character and I wish he was more confident and acted his age, since he’s older than Ash and gang
Banana fish has not aged well because there is too much shock value and it’s SO 80sss
The anime wasn’t good and a bad adaptation of a decent manga
The entire fanbase is about shipping the main two leads and I don’t find that productive and I think those fans have missed the point of the story
The fact that the story was post vietnam and ww2, I wish the racial tensions between the characters were more prevalent - imagine if Eiji and Ash didn't like each other at first because of post ww2 tensions??
I wish the characters spoke like they were from the 80s, what I mean is that people 40 years ago were not PC or mindful of language at all
