Update: it’s not an ESL thing it’s literally the whole “I like pancakes - so you hate waffles” mindset that mainly comes from American users. As someone living in Canada, I’ve never experienced anyone who has that sort of mindset before and I used to work in mental health services. I’m so Canadian that I thought it was a language barrier because the black and white thinking is really bizarre to me.
The issue I have with Sakura stans as another Sakura fan is that some have a tendency to think black or white. I’m unsure if it’s because of how much hate a character who really didn’t deserve it got during the Naruto heyday.
Regardless, if you have an opinion that isn’t 💯 positive all around, a subsection of fans will attack you. Like you can literally say nothing negative about the character and people will act like you do.
Maybe it’s a ESL thing. I find that if I’m having a discussion with someone and it’s clear to me that we are talking about two different things, the miscommunication is from a language barrier, people can’t read well or it’s anger issues that makes people skip words.
For example, I had a discussion about Sakura and Naruto’s dynamic with Sasuke. I said that Sakura is the more reasonable one as Naruto’s constant defending for Sasuke even though he’s technically wrong is absurd. But that’s just Naruto. He sees the good in everyone, even people who genuinely don’t deserve it at times.
Somehow someone took that and responded with I’m calling Sakura a whore, bitch and dumb and that I’m sexist. If Sakura did it she’s that but when Naruto does it it’s endearing LMAO.
Me dunking on Naruto and saying Sakura is more reasonable is apparently swapped in that person’s mind.
Honestly there is a reason why people don’t like Sakura fans because some of them took the hate that her character got and took it in the wrong direction.
The Buddy Daddies dub is really good and underrated. Particularly the script and Kazuki’s delivery on his lines for all the episodes really elevates the show.
I feel like because the four main boys were so overpowered in the first game, that the writers thought it would be better to make them weak allies so players can use the side character allies. All the best superhero allies are underused or side characters in the show. Maybe because a complaint for the first game was that players couldn't have Wendy or Clyde as their ally?
I’m replaying stick of truth to get the trophies in the game. I think I prefer Cartman’s abilities as the grand wizard rather than him as the coon in fractured but whole. His powers do more damage in stick of truth even if he dies quickly but as the coon he just sucks but I think that’s how it’s supposed to be because he’s not meant to be a good hero.
What I’ve been missing in my life
Naruto and sasuke still make me so insane like I already said this yesterday but few other relationships in fiction perfectly capture the gut wrenching heartbreak of having an intense homoerotic friendship and then having a messy falling out as teenagers
YESSSS!!
It’s so confusing to finish the games and see the fanfics of him, cloud and secondary characters and EVERYONE is mis-characterized because it’s written from the perspective of someone who watched ff7 crisis core with no context and had to rely on typical anime tropes to somewhat understand it. If the writer doesn’t even know what Jenova is, it hurts the story. Also like who is your target audience boo? Other people who have not played the games and only understand the characters through fanart?
Yall I love all of you Sephiroth girlies but I have a big favour to ask yall.
PLEASE PLAY THE GAMES. Dont just watch only watch the 40 minute Sephiroth cutscene on YouTube and base your entire perception of the guy. If yall at least learned the plot of the game, you would really appreciate the character more.
MORE OVER, THE QUALITY OF SEPHIROTH FANFICS WOULD INCREASE SIGNIFICANTLY IF YALL COULD REFERENCES SOME OF THE GAME’S LOCATIONS AND NAIL DOWN SUPPORTING CHARACTER MOTIVATIONS AND PERSONALITY.
Some of yall don’t know Sephiroth’s characterization and seem to go off your personal headcanons or use typical anime tropes when writing him. Sephiroth isn’t some anime bad boy, he’s vindictive, petty and scary soft spoken. Just look at how he flicked Aerith’s blood off his masamune towards Cloud. Or when his hand kept running up Cloud’s back and up unto his neck in one of Cloud’s hallucinations. I get that from watching clips out of context, his actions might seem like a dom daddy and all but he’s more than that if you see it through different perspectives. Like don’t forget, he’s trying to destroy the world with a giant meteor crashing down and wiping everyone out.
Just putting it out there.
Good shit and in-character
I’ll wait by the stairs for you, wrapped up in smoke; laughing alone…
he bounce 🥺
No, they haven’t lived together for 3 years.
Episode 8 was set on August 10th. Rei turns 26.
Rei left home three years ago, I’d guess it’s around August too, give or take, so let’s say in the summer. He was 22 almost 23. Around the same age when Kazuki lost Yuzuko.
When Kazuki first met Rei, this is how he looked. His hair was past his shoulders. Given that Rei has changed a lot as a person since he left, I think he had shorter hair before, and I doubt that it was long enough to put into a ponytail. To grow one’s hair out to that length, it’ll take at least 6 months.
So Rei left home in the summer 3 years ago + 6 months (2 seasons) of hair growth, Kazuki met him in the spring of the following year. Rei was 23 and Kazuki was 25.
Judging from Kazuki’s clothes, it’s not that warm yet. It supports the theory that they met in spring.
In present time, Miri has been with them for eight months. Let’s back track their time.
First year
Rei left home in summer
Second year
Kazuki and Rei met in spring
Met Miri on Christmas Eve
Third year
It marks 3 years around August since Rei left home
Kyu brought them together for jobs, not roommates. Not on purpose, at least. So when did they start living together?
From Rei’s words here, we know what he thought of Kazuki as a partner and a person, before they became roommates. They had worked on a number of assignments together before Kazuki “started cleaning”. Give or take, they probably had worked together for at least a month or two.
Judging from Kazuki’s clothes again, it wasn’t summer yet. So let’s work the timeline again:
Second year
Kazuki and Rei met in the spring
Worked together for around 2 months before Kazuki barged into Rei’s apartment and started cleaning
Met Miri on Christmas Eve
In conclusion, by the time Miri came into the picture, they'd been roommates for around 8 months. As of episode 8, they've lived together for 1.25 years.
Age 22 turning 23
Kazuki lost his family, the lowest point in life
Rei left his family, the lowest point in life
Age 25 turning 26
Kazuki met Rei and decided that he’ll care for him
Rei met Miri and decided that he’ll care for her
I just think it’s neat when they do this.
I just think it’s neat when they do this.
Kazuki met Rei and started taking care of him
Rei met Miri and started taking care of her
I just think it’s neat when they do this.
Recently binged South Park again after dropping off some time during the airing of season 19.
I got back into South Park after years of kind of ignoring it after one of the airing of Naughty Ninjas because 14 year old me thought it was so unfunny and too political. However, I played fractured but whole this summer and I really wanted to rewatch the show again.
Here are my thoughts and possible unpopular opinions:
Butter’s dad is honestly a character I want to see more of. His introduction episode had some good potential but it seems that the writers forgot about it. I think Butter’s dad being closeted has some really good material if they just focused on him more. When I decided to binge South Park again, the one episode I always remembered was Butter’s very own episode. It’s such a classic.
Some of the most underrated episodes are Follow that egg, South Park is Gay and Cartman Sucks. Basically all the gay-themed episodes they do are fantastic.
If you asked pre-season 19 me what I thought about South Park ships, I would have no idea what you were talking again. Shipping culture was always something I associated with anime and nothing else. When they send out that call for Tweek x Craig Yaoi on Facebook years ago, I was dumbfounded but also laughed so hard my sides hurt. I unironically loved the concept of the upcoming episode. I was thinking that South Park was gonna comment on anime and BL, but didn’t realize that Tweek x Craig was a real ship. Not just something they named randomly as a homage to Tweek vs Craig. I remember watching the episode when it first aired on TV but I couldn’t remember any of it afterwards. If anything, I completed forgot that Tweek and Craig were dating because when I played TFBW, I was once again dumbfounded by Craig’s dad side quest and of course, all of the mostly NSFW fanart.
On the topic of ships, as much as I find Kyle x Cartman really dumb, I welcome the idea that Cartman isn’t straight. Like at first, I brushed that theory off but thought about it more and of course, played TFBW (HAVE YOU SEEN HIS LITTLE DOODLES IN HIS JOURNAL??!! MY DUDE IS NOT STRAIGHT) I’ve come to accept the idea of it. I feel like the writers secretly agree but won’t commit because having Cartman be ambiguously gay/bi provides more writing material. One episode he can totally be straight and the next he isn’t.
I love Joshua in this scene. Just wish his tears were more visible and maybe have his face be red from the crying. Honestly same with Clive too.
One thing I really, really love about FFXVI is how many big, burly men show their emotions. Society often seems to tell guys that you can't cry or show weakness if you are to be seen as masculine and I just love that this story leans into being both strong and emotional for male characters that channel a lot of testosterone.
What’s the context of the photo???
It’s so random and so out of character but it’s funny.
