I love how you easily come up with such complex scenarios....it's amazing đ
I try to write something but sometimes it doesn't make sense so I give 8
Thank you!
I think the fact that Iâm an original fantasy writer in my spare time really helped. Iâve had a lot of practice with worldbuilding and such. For this specific project, I also took a lot of inspiration from an existing fanwork from another fandom, the Infinite Eclipse series by Jyc Row. Specifically this song from the series.
My tip is to start off with the big picture, and figure out the details later on. I didnât start this AU knowing every little thing already; I figured things out as I went. I thought, âwhat is a logical consequence of X?â and went from there, and thatâs how I got around 90% of my information here. Itâs like a skill tree; you start with 1 point, the basic general premise, and as you explore, different pathways start to open up. After a while, things start to fill themselves in and youâre just hitching a ride.
Planning this way also makes it easier to sort out the kinks in the plot and prevent plotholes; you have your universeâs rules set up from the get-go, and everything else is a result of them. Itâs hard to break a rule when itâs your main guideline, and things tend to be a lot more consistent when theyâre united under a set of guiding ideas.
In a recent Devilgram, Simeon mentions that heâs a sort of âmiddle manâ between the high-ranking angels and the lower-ranking angels.
I think that could be a really interesting thing working in his favor in this AU.
Heâs a powerful authority figure, but also much closer with the lower-ranking majority and knows them much better than someone at the very top like Michael would. Meaning, those lower-ranking angels would likely be VERY willing to listen to their trusted Simeon once everything goes south.
Mammon has a handgun as his main weapon and uses it to protect from looters
This scene is why I headcanon that Solomon and Michael are familiar with each other and have worked with each other. If Michael had his eyes on Solomon long before the Great Celestial War, then I find it hard to believe he didnât reach out at all over all these centuries.
Solomon and Michael being occasional work acquaintances will become important to this AU later.
(Takes place between Lore VI and Lore VII. Major characters: Solomon and Thirteen. ~1200 words)
MICHAEL
-----------------------------
Solomon: [Michael?]
Solomon: [Michael?]
Solomon: [Michael?]
Solomon: [Michael?]
------------------------------
It had been one hundred and eight days exactly since Solomon had sent his first mildly-panicked message to Michael. Exactly one hundred and eight days that Michael had ignored him. No, not ignored him. The messages didnât show up as âreadâ like they had with Raphael. It had been at least one hundred and eight days of Michael not checking his messages.
No one else was responding to messages anymore, either. Solomon had tried reaching out to Simeon and Raphael again, only to be met with silence. Heâd tried contacting Asmodeus, who heâd been sure would have called him immediately to explain everything, eager to talk to him again... only to be met with silence. Day in and day out, Solomon had been surrounded with silence.
Today was no exception. Once again, Solomon got no response.
Solomon sat at his desk, his drooping, tired head held up only by the hand obscuring half his face.
What is going on?
The words rattled in his head like an obsessive chant, holding him together just as much as they were destroying him. It was all he could think about anymore. It was shattering his brain and holding it together with weak glue.
It had started out with the power of the realms. Solomon had detected major disturbances in the power balance, disturbances that continued to fluctuate over the days. One day, it was the Devildom being more powerful than the Celestial Realm and throwing off the balance; the next day, it would be the Celestial Realm. At that point, Solomon had been worried, but not concerned.
He got concerned when the power jumped a tenfold. Then twenty-fold. Soon, thirty-fold. Before long, Solomon had to ask whether it was possible for either realm to sustain these power levels safely, even if they were in balance with each other.
The answer was no.
Every bit of research Solomon had done pointed to the obvious. The power levels he observed were not safe nor sustainable. Either his power estimates were innacurate- and his magical intuition had never been wrong in his two-thousand-year life- or something was very, very wrong.
Books littered the floor, pages dog-eared and spines cracked from books held open by the floor. Papers were strewn everywhere, a vast sea of white and aged beige leaving hardly a crack of wooden tile left. Sections of floor that were exposed bore large footprints, worn into the wood by countless hours of pacing.
None of it had gotten him anywhere. Well, nowhere useful. All of it gave him more and more reason to be concerned.
The sorcerer dug his nails into his face.
What now?
Crash.
The sound of shattering glass rang through the air.
Solomon froze up, considering the possibilities. Was it an aggressor? Was it some angel or demon, finally ready to give answers? Or some human looter taking advantage of the chaos?
It wasnât long before a familiar voice rang through the hall.
âSolomon!â It was Thirteen. And she sounded none too happy.
Despite her angry tone, the sorcerer breathed a sigh of relief. If Thirteen was here for another game on his soul, perhaps he could get some sense of normalcy, even for a second. Maybe seeing Thirteenâs indignant pout of defeat could cheer him up, even just slightly.
âIâm in here.â He called out, standing up from his desk, pushing out his chair and turning to face the door.
Fast, light footsteps pattered down the hall, followed by the whoosh of sliding paper.
âWha- AAAH!â
Thunk.
The reaper was sprawled out on her stomach on the floor, having slid on Solomonâs carpet of research papers. The wind was knocked out of her for a moment before she vigorously pushed herself up onto her hands and knees, and then to her feet.
âHey!â She yelled, lunging herself forward a few steps in his direction. âWhat was that about?! Setting traps is my-â She paused, her green, lizardlike eyes widening as her head tilted slightly to the side. âYou donât look so good.â
She wasnât wrong. The sorcererâs eyes were sunken and weary, drooping into dark circles from countless sleepless nights. Heâd lost weight- heâd forgotten to eat a fair few times while studying. The absolute mess that was his workspace certainly didnât help.
âI guess not.â Solomon said with a frown, stepping away from his desk.
âUh, anyway...â Thirteen said with an awkward blink, before her tone hardened once more. âI came here to ask you what the hell is going on.â
âIf this is about what I think itâs about, I wish I knew.â The sorcerer said soberly, casting his eyes across the books and papers scattered around the room.
âAll my candles are burning super fast now.â Thirteen said. âItâs insane. Usually they burn at a steady pace, but now I have candles that were nearly full the other day rapidly burning below halfway! The death rates have been ridiculous! Do you understand how hard it is to be a reaper, even when conditions are normal? Trying to keep up with all of this is so aggravating! Whatâs going on?! Is this some prank?!â
For a moment, Solomon just looked at her with wide eyes. Then, with a soft sigh, he lowered his head into his hand. The only thing the wise sorcerer could utter was, âFuck.â
âWhat the hell kind of answer is that?! Tell me whatâs going on, now!â Thirteen stepped toward him.
Solomon shook his head grimly, taking a step back and looking back up at Thirteen. âSomething is seriously wrong with the power balance between the realms, and both the Celestial Realm and the Devildom appear to be launching attacks on the Human World.â He explained.
âOkay, the attacks explain the deaths. But what about the candles burning so weirdly? Usually, Iâd know far in advance if something like this was going to happen!â
âMagic is woven so deeply into the three realms that any disruption of it can prove dangerous. With the magic of two of the three realms severely skewed, itâs likely theyâre suffering immense consequences. With how high the Celestial Realm and the Devildomâs power are right now, Iâm surprised either realm is even habitable; no being should be able to withstand that much power asides from God and the Demon King themselves. This power boost only started a few months ago and very likely wasnât meant to happen, so it has severely interrupted the lifespans of angels and demons alike.â
Thirteenâs eyes widened.
âNow that I think about it, it was getting quite cold in my cave. I couldnât help but feel something was offâ She frowned. âI guess my cave was somewhat sheltered, and I hadnât left it at all the past few months until I teleported to the human world to come get you.â
âI have to say, Iâm flattered you came to me first.â Solomon said with a smile that immediately earned him a nasty glare from Thirteen.
âItâs not like that!â She protested. She took a deep breath and composed herself, âItâs just⊠youâre the most powerful sorcerer around, right? I figured that if this wasnât just some prank by you to make my job harder, then youâd at the very least be knowledgeable enough to help.â
âUnfortunately, you may be disappointed.â Solomon replied with a bitter smile. âIâve been researching this every since the first signs, and I havenât made much progress. Everything Iâve read points to bad signs, and it doesnât help that I canât get any information out of anyone.â
Thirteen scoffed. âWell, youâd better find something soon, sorcerer.â
âSay, Thirteen...â Solomon cracked a smile. âHow would you like to work together on this?â
Thirteenâs eyes widened, and for a long moment, she was silent. Eventually, she let out a soft sigh and stepped toward him.
âFine.â
Jyc Row just released a new music piece and Iâm so excited over it because their music was a HUGE inspiration to this AU.
WOOOOO another cool dark OM AU!!!
This is what I can come up with so far with the Au rn lol @12am-motivation
//I'll start with the infection. Think of it like The Flare virus from the maze runners except with demons :D This whole au is like a survival type basically except with modern tech, given the whole techwear designs.
// Lower level demons don't have the same kind of immunity that the higher demons have, so they fully transform into these savage monsters faster. They can still use magic but don't have control over it. The lower demons who have wings can fly too. They're sensitive to light so when it becomes night that's when become more active.
//Even though they have a so-called immunity to the infection , higher demons who get infected are still eventually gonna end up like the lower levels, it's just a much slower process, that's why sometimes, in the heat of the moment, they lose control.
//Lucifer was the first to get infected while protecting Belphie. He lost control a total of 3 times due to being stressed.
//Barbatos was the second to get infected while trying to protect his special person. He's lost control once on the day he got infected
Now Ima go into the roles each character has rn
//The characters are part of a group, literally like the student council, expect idk what to name this one
// Diavolo is obviously the Commander/Leader. He's in charge of all the rules, Assigns mission to who he see fit, all that jazz.
//Barbatos is Diavolo's personal guard but also like If anything were to happen to the leader, Barbatos is the one to be put in charge next.
//Lucifer is the Enforcer of the group, idk if i'm using that right. He's the one to keep everyone in check, mainly his brothers.
For the brothers Ima sections them off instead of giving them descriptions bc I'm rad like that
Survivalist// Mammon, Satan
Lookout// Beel, Levi, Lucifer
Guard// Beel, Mammon, Lucifer
Marksmen// Levi, Belphie
Hunts/Scouts// Asmo, Belphie, Satan, Mammon, Levi
Mammon is in charge of Beel and Satan, while Levi is in charge of belphie and Asmo.
Mammon and Levi tend to venture out together to find any signs of survivors or to map out any new areas. That's how they stumbled upon Barbs.
Satan sometimes joins them as well to learn more about the virus and to maybe come up with a "cure" for Lucifer and Barbatos, though he wont admit it.
Levi, Mammon, and Beel were all out on a mission to gather some more supplies when they encountered their first Infected High ranking demon. ((these guys are a lot stronger and actually have more control over their actions unlike the lower levels)) Levi and Beel only came out unscathed because Mammon bought them time, though at the cost of his arm
That's why Levi took it upon himself to build him a Prosthetic Arm
Despite knowing the dangers, Belphie tends to sneak out during the night to go star gazing, Mammon sometimes follows him to make sure he comes back home safely. Though this would eventually be the reason how Lucifer got infected as he went off to get Belphie back home.
Belphie hates himself for that but only Beel knows.
Asmo is the one who tends to the brothers injuries// scratches, cuts, burns, etc. He taught himself after seeing how dire the situation actually is once lucifer got infected and mammon lost his arm. He says he hates getting messy when out scouting but his smile after killing something says other wise
And thats all I can come up with for now :D
Okay I wanted to talk about this, not in the context of my AU for once but just because I as admin of this account am really fascinated by Michael.
I agree with both these people; I donât view Michael as evil.
I think a lot of people who view Michael as evil just havenât put much thought into the logistics of the Great Celestial War. Which, is understandable. The story weâre told is that he cast his own brothers out of the Celestial Realm for daring to defend their sister Lilith whose only crime was killing a human. It obviously paints in him a bad light.
âŠbut you have to remember, youâre only hearing the brothersâ side of the story here. If you really think about the war and its implications, things become a lot more complicated, a lot less black-and-white.
The most glaring of these things I want to get out there is: If Father was willing to kill Lilith simply for saving the life of a human, what do you think he would have done to the brothers as punishment for rebelling against him? The answer is: probably not pretty. It would not have been a quick or pleasant death for any of them. And if he was willing to kill Lilith for FAR less, Iâm certain he would have killed Lucifer and his brothers too. And they might not even have to wait to be taken to Father to be executed; they could have died in the heat of battle. Itâs heavily implied that Lilithâs death was due to her wounds from battle rather than her fall, so obviously the battle was as nasty as the wars we know in our world.
But of course, that was only IF the brothers lost. Theoretically, if they won the war, they wouldnât have been executed. But really, what are the chances of them winning? Yes, I understand that all of them- especially Lucifer- were EXTREMELY powerful angels. But Father is implied to be God himself. It isnât easy to take down a god. We may not know much about Fatherâs specific powers, but based on what weâve heard about him, and what weâve heard about his Devildom equivalents, he seems to be an extremely powerful individual who would be almost impossible to take down.
Case in point, if Father was that powerful, then if he were overthrown, imagine how much that would have upset the order of the Celestial Realm and the balance of the three realms. Itâs revealed in the chat âHelldown Day 1âł and in The Ring plotline of season 3 that the balance of the three worldâs magic is a very fragile, and very important, thing. If the Celestial Realm suddenly lost their main source of power, it could be disastrous. Not to mention leave a massive political power vacuum, and leave the Celestial Realm open to attacks from the other two realms. We donât really know how far Lucifer and his brothers were willing to take the rebellion, but if they were willing to take it to the extreme of incapacitating and/or killing Father, that likely would have created disastrous consequences whether Father were a good person or not.
Thereâs also the fact that, in general, wars have casualties. Look at the Lilith example used above; if she was mortally wounded like that, I can only imagine countless angels were wounded or killed by the brothers in the midst of battle.
These circumstances would have all surrounded Michael for the duration of war. Heâs watching his twin brother Lucifer march to near certain death. Heâs leading his brothers to what could very well be their execution. And he not only has to worry about the fate of Lucifer and his brothers, but also the other angels of the Celestial Realm who were likely being injured or killed by the brothers in battle. He was watching the imminent doom of the people he loved, on ALL sides.
This is why I think Michael made his decision to cast the brothers down: to stop the war. To protect them. To end the bloodshed.
The brothers were not safe in the Celestial Realm. They would have likely died in battle or died at the hands of Father after the war ended. I think Michael wanted to save them from this fate. And the only way he could think of at the time was to cast them out of the Celestial Realmâs reach, down to the Devildom. And in doing this, not only would Lucifer and his siblings have the best chance of survival, but the constant bloodshed of everyone Michael loved fighting each other to the death would cease.
Michaelâs decision was far from perfect, and clearly caused IMMENSE trauma for the brothers that is completely valid and wonât go away no matter what the intentions behind it were. They have every right to be angry with him. But I donât think Michael is a bad person. I donât think Michael cast down the brothers as a punishment, or even out of anger. I think it came from a place of desperation. I think he did it because he thought it was the best he could do for them at the time.Â
I honestly donât like the people in the fandom who portrays Michael as a bad or evil person but I really did love how you portrayed him !!!
Thank you đ„° I don't see Michael as evil. The man has good intentions and his actions are done through what he sees is best for either humanity or the celestial realm. He is an angel and is described in canon to be kind and compassionate.
However, just because he has good intentions, doesn't mean they'll be read as such by others. That was the case in You Called?
Imagine both sides of the war initially overlooked the destruction of their worlds because âwell, weâll take over the opponentâs land soon enough and use that while our homeland healsâ and by the time they realized the enemyâs homeland was also too destroyed to even be worth taking over anymore it was too late
