LONG POST AND A LOT OF READING IM SO SORRY
I tried putting as many of my thoughts as I could but I’m probably missing some things. If I remember or notice anything else, I’ll add onto this post.
Some people found my last post to be helpful so hopefully this one can bring some more insight. These are just all my thoughts and observations and notes in one place so if these are somehow useful, then hey, glad it worked out. Also, I apologize for my bad handwriting and any grammar mistakes in advance. I got like, 4 hours of sleep last night (curse this insomnia). IDK if my terminology makes sense? Like “second line” or “bump.” But I have no idea what else to call them.
!!!!!!ONCE AGAIN THESE ARE JUST MY OBSERVATIONS AND NOTES,,, THIS IS NOTHING OFFICIAL OR ANYTHING!!!!!!
me: it’s not realistic to expect the type of love depicted in movies and stories, they function on an idealized notion of love that has a quick deus ex machina for situations that would require entire lifetimes to solve in real life
me, when Mr Darcy has to flex his hand after briefly holding Elizabeth’s hand in Pride and Prejudice (2005):
he is evolving and I am scared
Thanks to @freyreh for recommending this. It’s official… I will always love Donnie, no matter the incarnation. He’s adorable. But seriously. This. Is. Bad. Ass.
i still think the best thing about lizzie/darcy is how almost nobody knew it was happening like it was SCANDALOUS and charged and they constantly oscillated between wanting to jump each other or jump each other’s bones and everyone was too busy watching the vanilla trainwreck of bingley/jane and the victorian equivalent of a nuclear bomb that was lydia and wickham to realize that a whole THING was going on right in front of their respective perfectly boiled vegetables
Mr. Darcy is yet still the best man that has ever been written on paper and shown on films, you won’t change my mind 🙌🏻
one of my absolute favourite things about pride and prejudice (2005) is the way darcy is just so taken by elizabeth and only her. and how he has always been attentive towards her, from the beginning. from the first time that they catch each other's eye in the public ball and then mr. darcy averts his almost immediately to the holy scared shrine that is the hand flex when they just touch for seconds and he leaves immediately after to not let his emotions be seen to every time when darcy is seated and lizzie makes an appearance so he stands up, no matter the company (mr. bingley and ms. bingley or lizzie's uncle and aunt), no matter the number of times he has to do it (jane's letter about lydia running away) to running after lizzie when she is visiting pemberley believing him to not be there and making an utter fool of himself and then when he is feeling completely, perfectly and incandescently and calls her mrs. darcy. the guy was so floored from the begining until the end of time, how do you not with your heart, body, mind and soul, most ardently love him.
What endearments am I allowed? Well, let me think. Lizzy for everyday. My Pearl for Sundays and Goddess Divine but only on very special occasions. And what shall I call you when I’m cross? Mrs. Darcy? No. No. You may only call me Mrs. Darcy when you are completely, perfectly, incandescently happy.
he……….. really means business
