Vikings ask who is hvitserk favourite brother

If we’re talking about Hvitserk from my fic “I’m not okay”, then I wanna say it’s a tie between Ubbe and Ivar for very different reasons.

I say this because I highly doubt it would be Sigurd, he tends to get on his nerves (along with all of his other brothers) due to his relentless jokes, and hurtful comments at the expense of his younger brother. I also doubt it would be Bjorn, he was much older then them when they were growing up, he also had a different mother who didn’t want him around Ragnar’s second wife, so he didn’t spend much time with his half-siblings as they were growing, of course he saw them occasionally and he spent time with them after Ivar’s accident but, that doesn’t really give them the time to grow a bond like what he would have with them, not like they already had with eachother.

Ubbe in “I’m not okay” is definitely more of a father figure disguised as a big brother to him, someone he can rely on to look out for him, as well as give him knowledge or advice to help him in any situation.

Ivar in “I’m not okay” is still the baby of the family, and especially after his accident Hvitserk became very protective of him, making sure anyone who messed with him was dealt with accordingly, and always being around in case he needed him, even if that meant annoying the every loving fuck out of him. Ivar definitely holds a very special place in his heart.

In the show however (and personal opinion) I would outright say Ubbe is his favourite brother, I mean he basically tells both idunn as well as thora that Ubbe is the brother he loves the most. Not to mention he kinda says it himself in 6b. He’s lost, and sad whenever the two aren’t together, just based on what the tv series shows us I wanna say that Ubbe is definitely his favourite in the show. While you could argue he loved Ivar more in the show, I think Hvitserk and Ivar are more platonic soulmates, bound to eachother in a way the two of them can’t seem to comprehend, whether they like it or not.

You were an eternal, you and your team had been sent to earth to protect humans from the deviants, each member having a specific set of abilities, you ability was spontaneous creation, you could create pretty much every and anything your heart desired. You loved your team, treating them like your family, obviously some of them *cough ikaris *cough got on your nerves, and you didn't always see eye to eye but you loved them.

There was one eternal you loved more than the others, someone you would do anything for, druig. You and the man had a very flirty relationship, before you had even gotten together you were inseparable, so in love that seeing the two of you happy, is what allowed sersi to give ikaris a chance, the two of you were so in love that the humans, created the idea of soulmates because of the love they saw the two of you displayed.

So needless to say when the team split up, you were understandably heartbroken. You had tried to convince druig to stay for you, stay with the woman he loved, you even offered to go with him, and for a second you almost thought it had worked, until he told you that he couldn't take you away from your family. Stating that as much as he wanted to be selfish, he just couldn't let you leave with him and before you knew it everything was dark.

       You and druig didn't know why but you figured out early on, that you two could use your abilities on each other,  something that you both vowed to never do without the others permission, so when you woke up to Ajax's face, the love of your life gone, and the rest of your family gone as well, you felt betrayed.

The icing on the cake had been when Ajax told you, that she could hear another heartbeat coming from you, something that should’ve been impossible due to the fact the eternals couldn’t reproduce with each other, you knew you hadn’t been with anyone other than druig, so Ajax and you brain stormed.

The only possible conclusion was that your ability of spontaneous creation, was what allowed you to have a child with him, all the times the two of you had sat in bed after a night of making love, talking about what it would be like to have children, had most likely activated your ability without you even realizing.

After Ajax told you the group had been disbanded, druig being gone and off the radar, you ventured out on your own with the happiness of being able to experience motherhood, even if druig wasn’t there to be with you.

You were reading an old copy of pride and prejudice as your daughter Selene, paced around your warmly decorated room, ranting to her human friends about one of college professors.

   You and your daughter had settled here in 2004, you made a rule of moving around after a while, not staying in one place too long, but Selene begged and pleaded with you to stay, she loved the country and the people here. 

You ultimately folded, given that you could never say no to her, not when she had her fathers eyes. She looked so much like druig, her abilities were even closer to his than they were to yours, Selene had the ability to move things with her mind.

You had told your daughter all about who her father was, as well as your family. Often telling her stories of their greatest moments, when she younger she loved them, now that she was centuries old and in college it helped her pass.

"Hey mom, I'm going upstairs for a bit." Selene said, breaking your inner thoughts.

"Yea no problem moon." You replied, the nickname came from many centuries ago, humans who met your daughter often said she was the embodiment of the moon.

As your daughter went upstairs, still on the phone with her friends there was a heavy knock on your door, moving off the couch you moved gracefully to the door, when the door opened you were shocked to say the least.

There almost all of your family, minus makkari and Ajax. You looked over them before your eyes met his, the ones that were identical to his daughters, the smirk on his face dropped once you heard footsteps behind you.

“Y/n, we need to talk.” Ikaris began, while you were staring at druig, all those feelings of betrayal slowly began to leave, as you looked at him smirking and sure you were listening, you could multitask.

After explaining Ajax’s death, and the emergence, you sat there taking in all the information “we need you y/n” sersi all but begged, the others all looking at you.

The sound of footsteps coming down the stairs drawer everyone’s eyes away from you, And the smirk fell off druigs face when the person spoke “mom do we have- oh we have company.” Selene spoke sheepishly, before slowly leaving and going back upstairs.

To all the eternals they realized that no matter how impossible it should’ve been, that was druig daughter. There was no doubt in any of their minds, she looked too much like the two of them to not be, whereas in drug’s mind he was heartbroken, he couldn’t see the resemblance and assumed that you had moved on, found a man and started a family with him.

“I think we should give these two some privacy, we’ll see you guys outside.” Sersi spoke, making the rest of the eternals follow behind her, many of the smiling and smirking in their way out.

“Congratulations daddy.” Kingo said patting druig on the shoulder, before walking out the front door.

Druig stood there processing what was just said, finally taking the time to think about what your daughter had looked like, he finally realized how similar she looked to the both of you, he looked at you and saw you weren’t making eye contact with him.

“Hello my beautiful, beautiful y/n.” He said walking over to sit in front of you, his hand coming up to hold your cheek, grazing his thumb of the soft skin and looking into your eyes.

“Hello druig.” You responded monotone, sure you were happy to see him but you couldn’t help to but feel slightly betrayed.

He signed, before he spoke “darling, I know I can’t take back what I did but if you’ll let me, I’d love to spend the rest of eternity making it up to you, I never should’ve left you, there hasn’t been a day I haven’t missed you and regretted leaving you.”

“Than why didn’t you come back? Why haven’t you looked for me all these centuries?” You asked.

“I had responsibilities, I couldn’t just leave no matter how much I wanted to.” He told you, looking like he was almost pleading with you to understand.

You did understand, you couldn’t leave your daughter because you had a responsibility to her, and you knew druig would never lie to you, so you slowly leaned in and rested your forehead against his.

“I love you, I never stopped loving you druig, nothing would make me happier than spending the rest of eternity with you.” You told him, causing the man to smile.

He leaned in a pressed a soft kiss to your lips before pulling away, “is she mine?” He asked looking at you with such hope in his eyes.

“Of course she is my love, I’ve never been with anyone else, just you, only ever you.” You told him smiling, watching his smile grow.

“I’d like to meet her.” He told you, so you brought him upstairs and introduced him to his daughter, he loved you her, the two were very similar but druig couldn’t help but love, the fact that she looked more like you than him, in his eyes that made his daughter so much more special to him.

All those late nights talking about your imaginary children, something he had thought was never a possibility for you two, now he was here looking at his beautiful, strong and intelligent daughter, he couldn’t help but think he was the luckiest man to exist.

He finally had the woman of his dreams back in his life, and the family together that you two had always wanted, life couldn’t be much better if only he had found you two before what could be the end of the world.

𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆: listen to the persons story without jumping to, problem-solving or offering them “silver linings.”instead of offering your advice, acknowledge their pain and how difficult their situation must be to go through.

𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹: someone in an abusive relationship, may already be dealing with feelings of inadequacy, as well as shame. Asking questions like “why don’t you just leave?” Can push your friend/family member away, in a time when they need you the most.

𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: if you find it hard to not be judgmental, don’t worry you are not alone but, no one ever intends to get into an abusive relationship and, you can’t always spot an abuser right off the bat. It can be very helpful to learn the dynamics of domestic violence, the power and control the abusers have over their victims, which can make it difficult and dangerous for the victims to leave.

𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻: asking them how you can support them, is a great way to show the victim you are there for them. Abuse can make a person feel powerless, so letting them know you trust them to do what’s right for them, a loved one saying that can help them gain some power back.

𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴: a victim of abuse is most likely already overwhelmed, the idea of leaving can be even more overwhelming. Having knowledge about resources for them to get additional help, when they are ready for it, your best bet is to slowly and step by step encourage them into leaving.

𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳: as selfish as it sounds, you need to make sure your okay during this type of situation. A lot of people don’t understand that, watching someone you love and care about being abused, can take its own emotional toll on you. Make sure you know your limits, it is okay to set boundaries and look for support of your own.

this story was inspired by @siempre-bucky ‘s fic called “your eyes…” i couldn’t get the idea of a druig college au out of my head, after I read it, it’s amazing and I suggest you read it.

𝗶 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗱, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗮𝘆

𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘃

Gilgamesh and Thena had always wanted kids, unfortunately after trying for almost a year after their wedding, they both got zero results. After consulting with doctors they found out that Thena, was unable to conceive children of her own. The couple was obviously devastated but, they didn't give up they started looking for other options, along the way they remembered they're friend Ajax, and how she had adopted her children.

     Ajax had also always wanted children, but due to her late husband dying before they could, and her not being able to give her heart to another, she decided to adopt children. She had adopted five children phastos (the oldest,) sersi, kingo, makkari and druig (the youngest.) they hadn’t visited much, due to the fact that they’re schedules never lined up, it was a lot easier to see each other when Ajax’s children were younger, before they had activities of their own.

After a very emotional call, Thena and Gilgamesh found the adoption agency Ajax used, after a lot of talking they decided that they wanted to adopt an older child, Thena had done a lot of research and found, that older children don't always get adopted because everyone wants a new baby.

When Thena told Gilgamesh of this he was off the wall excited, not that older children weren't getting chosen but, that they were getting the process started. They both filled out all the applications, and background checks, before they knew it they were visiting with children.

The couple must have seen hundreds of children, well… that’s an exaggeration but it was a lot, they just didn’t feel the spark, that those were their children. Thena was beginning to lose hope, Gilgamesh was still trying to be strong and optimistic for them both, so he booked one last visitation.

They showed up early and began to speak to the man in charge, they then looked at some kids until they found one in the corner. A teenager who was sitting my himself, he didn’t look all that pleased to be there either, the couple made their way over to him only to be stopped by the man in charge.

“Oh, I should warn you both about that young man, y/n is his name he’s 13 and… he’s mute.” The man told the couple.

“Oh does he know sign language? Our friend has a daughter who’s deaf so, we learned sign awhile ago.” Gilgamesh asked the man.

“He does but he won’t try to, he has a sister she’s in our infant and toddler section, he refuses to be adopted without her.” The man replied.

“What happened to their parents?” Thena asked holding onto her husbands arm.

“There was a house fire, their parents didn’t make it, y/n has been mute since apparently he saw what happened, only really told the police and his therapist what happened.” The man explained.

The couple took one look at each other, almost as if they could read each other’s minds, before telling the man they would like to speak to the boy.

“Hello my name is Thena, this is my husband Gilgamesh, we’re interested in adopting you.” She signed.

“No thank you.” The boy signed back politely.

“Not even if we said we were interested, in both you and your little sister?” Gilgamesh signed with a soft smile, this statement clearly caught the boy’s attention, which made the couple smile at the look of hope on his face.

“Really?” Y/n asked, trying hard to keep his face neutral, but he couldn’t help being excited. No one had ever wanted both of them, they always wanted sprite because she was so young. Thankfully the centre they were housed in, didn’t feel it was right to separate the siblings.

“We’ve always wanted two kids, and I’m unable to have them myself, if you’ll let us we’d like to take you and your sister home today.” Thena spoke hopefully.

Y/n could help it, he smiled so big and bright it warmed the couples hearts, he nodded his head super hard before grabbing their hands, dragging them from the room to take them to the toddler centre, showing off his baby sister like she was a trophy, It was then that the couple realized, they couldn’t have made a better choice if they tried.

Growing up with Thena and Gilgamesh was a blessing, y/n and sprite couldn't have asked for better parents, the couple could remember the first time the toddler called them mama and daddy, they were overjoyed. It took a little longer for y/n to called them as such, not that they expected him to right away, they knew he still remembered his birth parents and didn't push, but on one gloomy day the rain pouring outside. Thena had been on her way home from work, sprite was colouring at the kitchen table, and Gilgamesh was cooking dinner.

      Y/n was so in tune with his phone he didn't even second guess his actions, he clapped his hands to get the mans attention, when Gilgamesh turned around he saw his son signing "dad whens dinner gonna be ready?" He asked, the question made Gilgamesh pause, looking over at the boy who was too invested in his phone, to truly realize what he had just called the man.

     A smile appeared on the mans face, before he told his son that dinner would be ready any minute, as soon as Thena got home Gilgamesh had pulled her aside, the kids eating at the table while he shared the news, Thena couldn't have been more excited for her partner.

From then on they were called mom and dad, the couple couldn't have been happier, they provided the best care for both children, making sure y/n got the best therapist for his trauma and anxiety, getting sprite into the best soccer team when she expressed her love for the sport, and the kids were truly grateful.

      Y/n loved his parents and always made sure they knew it, y/n went out of his way to do things with both of his parents, he went boxing with his warrior of a mother on the weekends at her gym, and whenever he could he’d cook with his dad often suggesting new recipes for them to try.

As the two children grew up they still continued to be close to their parents, they weren’t like other kids. Y/n and sprite felt comfortable enough to tell their parents any and everything, and they did. No matter how “tmi” the information might have been they told them, they were a very close family.

That closeness mixed with years of therapy, allowed y/n to finally feel comfortable enough to talk when he was 17, only to his family of course but that was a huge step, one that his family celebrated by his father making him a cake, and his mother getting him a ring, an anxiety ring to be specific, one which had the words “I am strong” engraved on the inside of it. The whole party and the gift had made y/n feel so loved, that he collapsed into his parents and sob tears of joy.

Last summer on a very humid day, the family had decided to stay inside, enjoying each other's company while watching movies, y/n got a notification on his phone, he would've ignored the notification had he not seen who it was from, eternal university.

       His shocked but also anxious face caught his sister's attention, "what's your problem spaze?" Sprite asked with a smirk.

      "Hey! Don't talk to your brother like that." Gilgamesh playfully told his daughter.

          "Honey what's wrong?" Thena asked moving to sit beside him.

        He turned his phone to show his mother, her face lit up at the notification. "Well what are you waiting for? Open it honey." She told him, not hiding her excitement.

       "Open what?" Sprite asked, both her and Gilgamesh moving to standing behind him, their facing also lighting up at the screen.

      "Go on, open it. No matter what it says, just know that we love you and we're proud of your regardless." Gilgamesh told his son, lightly squeezing his shoulders.

Y/n opened the email and began to read out loud, “we’re pleased to inform you that….” After seeing that his family started celebrating, y/n himself was in shock. Not because he was a bad student, or that he was dumb because he wasn’t, he just hadn’t dreamed that he would actually get into his dream school, it felt like this was an illusion and that any minute, he would look down and see that he had read the email wrong.

And just like that, his life had changed again, and he quickly realized that it meant he would be away from home, he couldn’t speak to people, and he wouldn’t know there. The once excitement and joy, quickly turned to fear and sadness.
