At the end of the month Allison and I will be moving into a new, nicer apartment. It's very exciting and big step for us as a couple. The only problem is that we've been having trouble with the rental company. They're very dodgy with any questions we might have and today I tried to drop off the security deposit and couldn't find their office at the address they gave me.
I'll admit I'm a bit paranoid of a person but Allison is starting to get worried now too, which worries me :/
I can’t believe that the idiot blob of orange colored fat currently in charge of our country keeps claiming he’s “handled this situation well.”
I’m also not a reposting kinda guy but these things need attention more than the lies Trump keeps telling.
In the new apartment now and it's fantastic! Great space, good neighbors and a yard (a hard thing to come by in chicago). It also comes with a storage space in the basement that is just smaller than the second bedroom.
I've been thinking I should set up my workshop in the basement storage room and keep all the sawdust and noise out of the apartment. The only problem is I'm terrified of spiders and the basement is full of them.
Even typing that right now I can't help but call myself a wuss.
My Grandpa, what a badass.
Had a few things to do tonight before heading off on a much needed escape, they are as follows.
1. Go with Allison to get a new swimsuit.
2. Drop off keys with our friend John so he can check in on our cat.
3. Pack my bags.
Seems simple enough right? Well this simple list of things for some reason came with a very annoying and swift kick in the ass. This is what happened while going through my list.
1. Allison gets swimsuit. Our car gets booted because I left the parking lot and got a drink from a place across the street.
2. Park, hop out of car, hand John my keys. Cop tickets me for being in a "no standing zone for less than a minute (The real kicker is if I hadn't gotten out of the car and given my friend a hug then the cop said he would have let it go).
3. I pack my bags and go to get our cooler out of the basement. Get locked out of the apartment, Allison is already sound asleep in bed.

It's hard to know the right thing to do these days. Allison grew up on a farm several miles from town and even farther from the nearest city, I grew up in the suburbs with the skyline of Chicago visible out my bedroom window.
Now with us both grown up and contemplating the future, it's hard to know what to do. I'm fascinated with the idea of adventure in the country, making my own way and discovering new things all around the world. Allison on the other hand has always been happy to have escaped her boring life in the country by moving to Chicago. How with the prospect of becoming adults and starting a family do we fulfill the desires that we each have in where we want to be?
It's "Bike to Work" week here in Chicago. A fun unofficial city wide event that is supposed to help get people out of their cars and onto their bikes. It's a great way to stay (or get into) shape while putting in an effort to save a little bit of the environment.
I bike to work year-round, only stopping a few times because of unforeseen problems. Like when I got crashed into, had to have my bike repaired, and when I hurt my knee. This week I see more riders on the road than I do all the rest of the year. It's nice to know that while I make a special effort to ride every single day, there are people who usually drive making that special effort for at least one week out of the year.
I live for the outdoors but pound the city pavement. My wife and I wish our cat and dog would get along.
