also let me try to write this thought down and see if i can articulate it. it seems to me that moonjo seeks his partners (in murder, in love, in whatever capacity you want to interpret this as) in people who, by force of need, had to rent a room in that shabby building, thus creating an obvious imbalance in power between them— moonjo is perceived as someone of high status who chooses to be where he is and do what he does, while jongwoo is perceived as someone of low status who is forced to be where is and do what he does. i just think it’s really interesting, moving forward, that jongwoo doesn’t call him out on this specific piece of bullshit, because moonjo’s entire speech is about doing what you want and let yourself be free– which is obviously something he can do because he has the status and right and, then, the freedom, to do so
