HOLY SHIT
June 7th, 1942: Edward Hopper completes his best known painting, the seminal Nighthawks. When asked by a Chicago Tribute reporter about the philosophical meaning behind the diner having no clearly visible exits Hopper responded, “Shit. Fuck. I did it again. Goddamnit. Fuck. Not again. I did it again. Shit.” and slammed his hat on his leg.
it’s been ten years

if you think about it, every time we tranquilize animals to transport them safely to another place, we are the sleep paralysis demon
This is kinda an unpopular opinion but I don’t like how HEAVILY people associate scene and emo culture are with the early 2000s.
If someone dresses in trad goth people don’t usually tell them “it’s not the 80s” or for punk/grunge “it’s not the 90s”.
Alternative fashion and music just do not work that way. Alt Subcultures don’t just “go out of style” the way mainstream fads do.
Because it’s not just a style. It’s a whole ass culture we’re talking about. Art, music, literature, fashion, movies, sense of humor, hobbies, etc all go into subcults & People who already don’t follow the crowd aren’t going to care what the latest 2023 trends are, if that wasn’t obvious already.
Seriously what alternative person is gonna be like “wait, my style isn’t what everyone is doing this year? Dang well let me find out what everyone IS doing this year so I too can hop on the bandwagon!”
Hellooo! How do i make patches? I want to make some very badly but I have no idea how to make them
the only things you really need are scissors and fabric! other things like glue, tape, thread/floss, needles, hardware (any kind of chains, safety pins, added objects) are great but optional.
i start by cutting the shape i want from my fabric. this can be any scrap fabric; canvas and denim are good if painting on a flimsy layer bothers you, but a thinner or silkier fabric may help you achieve more detail and a cleaner look. depending on your fabric, you may need to seal edges with glue so they don’t fray.
i use masking tape to secure the fabric to a surface as i paint it, and then freehand my design. you can also sketch out more complicated patterns with a white jelly roll pen, but i am lazy and usually don’t. i do touchups with black acrylic paint since my fabric is black.
hope this helps :)
Could you just RB this?
The little RB statistics chart is so pleasant and stimmy to look at and I want to see what it looks like when it gets really REALLY huge because it makes me think of some deep sea lifeform
Hey @staff. This is a perfect example of why collapsed reblogs is such a bad idea. Seeing the full thread, you go like this: 😮 ooh, that's cool 😀 "they're free," hehe! 🤣 "16 cents," perfection!!
I have achieved joy, I feel positive feelings toward Tumblr, I want to engage, I want to stay, my eyeballs land on more ads, you make more money, everyone wins! 🎉
Seeing the collapsed thread, you go like this:
😮 ooh, that's cool 😐 "16 cents"? yes, that's literally what the pic shows, not sure why you felt the need to say that
There is no motivation for me to uncollapse the reblog chain—it looks like a boring conversation about the denominations of coins. And even if I do uncollapse it, you've ruined the joke by showing me the punchline before the setup. I am sad, Tumblr is boring, I go elsewhere to entertain myself, I see less ads, you make less money, everyone loses. 😥
Reblog chains are the best thing about Tumblr. They are your unique super power. They are the thing that makes people screenshot Tumblr and share it around. Why on earth would you kneecap them??
I don't know exactly how you plan to implement this. Give people the option to keep them collapsed if there truly are people who are annoyed by how long they can get (you already have a version of this feature), but don't collapse them for everyone or new users by default. Please. It will make Tumblr so much more boring.
