🗡️ It takes more than three words…

to say I love you in the ways you deserve 🗡️ words of affirmation prompts

“I can see that you care for them, even if you don’t say it directly. It’s in everything you do.”

“You deserve to relax.”

“That top complements your eyes really well!”

“Hey, you tried your best on that project. It may have fallen apart in the end—but you tried. That’s what matters.”

“I really admire how you stood up for them. That takes a lot of courage.”

“You make people feel safe. Like they can be themselves without judgment… at least that’s how I feel around you.”

“You’re looking less like you got dragged out of hell every day!” (“Thanks?” “Going to hell and back doesn’t mean you got any less attractive.”)

“I don’t think you were in the wrong. Now I’m not saying you were right, but you made a good point and I think they should consider that.”

“It’s okay to be just okay. I’m here for you no matter what.”

“We adore you! We want you around! You’re our friend, why wouldn’t we want to hang out with you?”

“You are worthy of love and friends and respect.”

“Keep going, you’re doing great!”

“Woah, that was sick. Can you teach me how to do that?”

“You look healthier, you really do.”

“I would be nervous too in your shoes. But you’d be telling me that I got this, so I’m telling you: You got this.”

“I’m so proud of you.”

“I really care about you and want you to become the best version of yourself, whoever that may be.”

“Regardless of your gender, you’ll still be allowed in the treehouse.” (this came from a really funny and reassuring conversation with a friend LOL)

“I trust that you won’t hurt me.”

“You’re a really wonderful person. The world would be a better place with more people like you.”

Do you have any manta ray info you'd like to share? Or any other type of sea critter you're intrigued by? :3

Manta Ray facts!!!

Their wingspan can be up to 30 feet across and they can weigh up to two tons!

Despite their massive size, they can leap nearly 10 feet out of the water (imagine having one of those flying through the air at you)

Every manta has a unique pattern of spots on their underbelly, which has long been used to id individuals as it was considered as unique and unchanging as a fingerprint. However, new evidence suggests that the pattern can shift as the manta ages, meaning we may have been counting the same individuals more than once, overestimating their population.

They have long been hunted for their gill plates, which apparently have medicinal properties, but sadly the species are now threatened due to overharvesting and other human activity.

Mantas are high intelligent, potentially one of the smartest fish in the ocean! They are extremely curious of humans and frequently interact with divers, and can even recognize themselves in a mirror!

Portal 2's Turret Opera still hits soooo hard as a closing point for Chell and GLaDOS' story dude. Right after a monologue about how after everything they've been through she realizes she's incapable of killing Chell, GLaDOS has actually.. set up a perfect, inescapable death trap. She could've easily had the turrets shoot through the glass, sent the elevator all the way back down to Old Aperture or simply gassed her without letting the elevator even leave her central chamber. She basically had her. She could've obliterated her while she was still out cold from fighting Wheatley, but she doesn't. Instead, she has them perform an opera about walking as far away from science as possible. An opera that's implied to have been rehearsed even before Chell broke out with Wheatley - was she considering doing this long before Chell went out to try and kill her again?? This is very blatantly me steering into headcanon territory, but I like to think this whole room was the "REAL surprise with tragic consequences" GLaDOS spoke of. I imagine this is exactly what she originally planned to do - give her false hope by having her ride an escape elevator only for it to stop right in the middle of a massive turret ambush. She would literally treat Chell like a fish in a barrel. Quick, easy and delightfully painful. Each instance where she escaped was either due to oversight or third party intervention - so she created a situation where none of that is possible. All that would arrive to the surface and see the sun is a bullet-riddled corpse. But that's not what the elevator brings to that dingy faux shed in the end. I wonder what she's done with this room after the elevator made its ascent. Do the turrets still stand there, waiting on the off-chance the elevator goes back down with a familiar face within? Do they still sing the same song, over and over, hoping she'll hear it up there? Do they think of her, does she think of them, does she think of her? If Chell were to step back in, would GLaDOS even have the heart to let that elevator go back down? Either way, they'd still be down there, gathered for someone that may never ever come back. They'll all be faithfully standing at their usual spots in the chambers, ready to lovingly shoot her again should she be back to test forever.

Solving conflict, not like a compromise or a "let's forget about this and move on", but really understanding why the other said or did what they said or did, and them understanding you, and both of you feeling closer and trusting the other more afterwards is one fucking amazing human experience.

I have a friend with whom I had a very sudden and painful conflict and she went no contact for 4 years, then she came back and asked to talk it out, and now it has been 10 years and how we solved this conflict got us so much closer.

But sometimes, there are some conflicts that will never get solved, some apologies we'll never get to make. Somewhere, someone is telling a story about what a dick you were, to a new friend, over a drink.

And I learned that it is ok. Conflict solving requires both parties being willing to try, the right timing, and sometimes some special communication and empathy skills. It cannot always work.

But when it does, and I get to understand myself and someone I love so much better thanks to it, it makes me so happy. I also trust people more after having even a minor conflict with them and see how we both handle it.

I'm grateful for all the conflicts that made me grow and feel loved and fought for afterward.

I don't want to participate in cruelty. In meanness, in fear. Sometimes I do, because I'm human and hurt, but most of the time finding some kindness in my heart is what will allow me to endure this cruel world. One of my worst fear is the world hurting me so badly that kindness, trust, and love would not be accessible for me anymore.

I do everything in my power for that to not happen. When I feel my heart closing up, I fight to open it again.

one thing I highly recommend doing that's helped me through the last few days is creating a "self-care menu." the idea is to create a ready-to-go list of things that brighten your spirits or occupy your mind. on bad days, when you can't remember the things that cheer you up or can't muster the energy to make a decision, it's invaluable.

i've got mine divided into three sections: appetizers, entrees, and takeout. appetizers are small things that cheer me up quick (petting my cats, making my favorite tea, playing a favorite song). entrees are activities that take a little longer (rereading a favorite fanfic, tending to my stardew valley farm, taking a bath). takeout is things that get me OUT of the house (going for a walk, going to a coffee shop, getting a bouquet from the grocery store).

sometimes when i'm so drained of energy and joy that it's paralyzing, i pick an item off the appetizers list, then that gives me the energy to think and choose one of the entrees as well. sometimes i close my eyes and point to something at random and do that. sometimes just reading the list reminds me of all the small things that make me happy.
