Love to the mars rovers family!
Haven't seen anything about Ingenuity on tumblr yet, so I guess I'll make a post about it
Ingenuity (sometimes called Ginny) was an companion craft to Perseverance, one of the rovers currently on Mars. As opposed to any of the past rovers, however, Ingenuity was a rotorcraft intended to fly above Mars' surface.
After landing on Mars in February of 2021 and completing its first flight on April 19th, 2021, Ingenuity became the first aircraft to fly on another planet. Its original goal was only 5 flights, but it well surpassed that number, logging 72 flights with over two hours of in-air time.
On January 18th, 2024, Ingenuity lost contact with Perseverance midway through a flight, and a few days later, NASA had confirmation that the rotors were damaged, leaving Ingenuity incapable of flight.
So long, Ingenuity. You did so much <3

I finished Iron Flame yesterday. I'm happy Tumblr is here to support me.
Waiting on a package for a secondhand Freewrite Traveler. I've spent a good half a year debating to get one.
Considered the Alpha Neo 2, which would be the cheapest option. But I worry with aging tech, how I'd be able to get data off it. Example, USB ports are not the same on modern computers now.
Considered the Japanese product of the Pomera DM250. The price point is still high with some more functionality but also several more steps to pull data from.
So the Freewrite Traveler is definitely a luxury item, even secondhand. I will experiment with it for the next few months as I try to spin up my stories and articles concepts. I really want to self publish, but I need to actually complete something.
I've written several things by hand and I like it, but I wasn't able to keep it going. I think I just prefer writing on a keyboard. I've got part of a story started by hand, counted words by hand, and am not really looking forward to typing it up again lol. I wish I had more time in the day.
I am all for taking action in support of repairing climate change, but this is not the way. Action should be taken against the active offenders, big corporate.
Degas is long dead. The collection and museum is part of the Smithsonian which is supported with public funding too. Climate crisis is not a battle in an art gallery, unless it's a piece of artwork that is raising money to enact immediate policies against those climate offenders.
For anyone wanting to contribute to climate action, this just isn't it.
'I'm forcing you to talk about it, Anderson!' Fiery Bernie Sanders jabs ...
If there were ever a topic to maybe reach over the other side to come to agreement on, maybe it’s this. Forget about anything else because it’s too polarizing, but everyone needs medical care.
