Question about your late redemption arc Hunter, how did the redemption of his finally started? Did they just capture him for it to start or did he came to them on his own?

Also I love all your aus and headcanons of Hunter! Have you ever thought about writing a fic about your late redemption Hunter?

There’s different scenarios but here’s what I put in regards of how this would play out post watching and dreaming.

After the death of Belos he would be the run for a bit but unfortunately thats pretty difficult when the most of the BI thinks you where a accomplice in mass genocide. He eventually get captured because in the end to the day he’s just one person against the whole world.

He placed on trial alongside the other coven heads who weren’t involved in the rebellion (Terra, Adrain, even Kiki, ect) So it’s a pretty messy court case, all of this with all sorts of people being involved like owl house gang, Lilith, the rebellion, coven heads, jury’s, lawyers, judges ect. It’s chaos

He’s able to hold up a bit, being decently versed in law and politics but crumbles when theres just too many accusations and heavy charges dropped on him for things he didn’t even do. (Like attempted genocide) Since people are essentially trying punish him for Belos crimes. Thankfully he does have people defending him in the form of the rebellion and owl gang where apparent abuse in revealed. Luz advocated and got the others to do so. It doesn’t help the fact that he’s underage and so heavily sheltered

Eventually he’s let go with the order that he must be under supervision and isn’t allowed to have his artificial staff.

He despises it but slowly but surely starts coming around when he realizes he isn’t a prisoner and from there he builds bonds with different characters like Luz and flapjack (who lives)

So he was kinda forcefully adopted by the owl gang

Of course this isn’t set in stone and can change as this story is still being fleshed out but court room fics are a weakness of mine,

As for me writing a story, I already have some outlines and rough drafts! My biggest issue would be committing to it lol but I do have high hopes for this AU.

Dana recently announced that Belos raised Hunter as a toddler because it would have been easier to influence a small mind rather than a fully developed one. And it made me think abt how he's never been anyone's baby.

ooffff this makes me think how the golden guard mask is the only time belos is truly able to control hunter, the only time belos feels he is most like the idolized "caleb" he made in his head.

hunter is obedient, silent, and unwaveringly loyal in the mask. but as hunter, he is scarred, pursues wild magic and a constant reminder of how different he is from "caleb"

belos is only able to "love" the mask because that is what is closest to what he really wants with hunter: a blindly faithful witch hunter, just like how it was back in gravesfield.

Pretty much. Hunter was never loved, at most he was simply idealized because in the end he was a decent tool no different than the artificial staff he once wielded.

Now I’m imagining a free churro type of episode with Hunter and him giving a crappy eulogy…that actually makes a really good fanfic idea

For your ghoul AU, besides the whole flesh consumption and more animalistic traits from smell and hearing does anythin per se useful come from Hunter's new biology?

He has some standard grimwalker headcanon stuff like immunity to heat and lungs turning into stone when sleeping. He’s a bit stronger and faster than the average witch and can see in the dark quite well. Reflective cat eyes! He produces more adrenaline which means he’s on fight or flight more often and his body is good at preserving energy.

Downside of that means he’s sleepy more often since he doesn’t have a proper diet so he often takes quick naps on the job when he can and has the heartbeat of a humming bird. He’s a bit more prone to passing out. When he’s in the human realm, he starts napping throughout the day.

Tbh a lot of stuff you can also chalk to being a child soldier like quick reflexes, flexibility(bro can fold like a lawn chair), agility, mithridatism and great balance.

When he starts eating properly post canon, he gets the zoomies due to more energy, grows a new set of stronger fangs and stronger nails.

Other than that’s he’s close to a normal witch, a part of me wants to add more stuff but I want it to be more believable since he is supposed to be the more ideal clone in terms of looks.

Past failed grimwalkers during early testing had stuff like claws, scales, tails, muzzle like faces, ect (closer to how grimwalkers are depicted in myths in this AU) before Belos was able to perfect the recipe. Hunter is the first grimwalker in a very long time that had something ‘go wrong’ in his creation because he was made too young which meant he went through a natural puberty/development unlike the other grimwalkers who were already fully grown.
