I love it when horror uses the religious trauma of its viewers for a good scare. I remember watching a video by AnttonyGallego on YouTube about "Obelisk," by lizardmeninc. There was an episode where the protagonist was exploring an "abandoned" house, and they stumble across a room with a bookshelf, an easel, and glass doors with wooden frames. This is the most furnished room of the home. On the wall there's a wood canvas that reads, "Be still and know that I am GOD."

Now, as someone that was raised non-denominational in a Southern Baptist Bible Belt, that sends chills down my spine when I think about it. It's a verse that is meant to be a source of comfort, of trusting an almighty god who loves you, but now it's a threat in this case. We don't know what lives in that house and what it's capable of. And to know that it has that canvas with that verse, terrifying.
