"Cassandra" by John Maler Collier (1885), courtesy of Wikimedia Commons.
O shining, clairvoyant Cassandra, Beautiful and brilliant, Virgin daughter of Priam and Hecuba, Bearer of the bewitched chest of Bacchus, Whom Apollon accorded the divine power of augury, And powerful Pallas protected with the almighty aegis of vengeance, You who foresaw the tragic fall of Troy, tearing away Helen’s golden headdress to reveal a future shrouded in bloodshed, but went unbelieved by those you told; You who hurtled ahead, ever onwards to your doom, Helpless and bewildered, Defenseless at the feet of the Fates; Teach me to trust in the Gods and never turn away from their gifts, even if they are mysterious and frightening. Give me guile to glean Trojan Horses that enter my life, axe in hand and torch aloft. Help me to keep an open mind to those who prophesy future chaos, and see how I can change the world, in my own small way, to prevent potential destruction. O ever-sorrowful maiden, Teach me patience, Give me wisdom, Help me attain peace of mind.

IMO Jughead is the most compelling character in this show and the more I watch the more tragic his character and arc are.
Where I’m at in season five it just really seems like he’s turning into his dad (alien conspiracy theories notwithstanding) and it’s horribly tragic mostly bc it seems very realistic for kids who grow like he did. Setting all the weird Riverdale shit aside, being abandoned by your mom and forced into homelessness by you drunkard of a father and witnessing a man get beaten to death whilst living under a bridge and being bullied at school and overwhelming not really wanted by anyone in your life are the kinds of things that leave a lasting mark. And on top of that people are a product of the environment they grow up in. Some people get out of it and take new paths and others get sucked back in no matter how hard they try to escape. And tbh Jughead probably would’ve had more luck escaping if he’d had a proper support system.
I like Bughead a lot but they were pretty toxic for each other after a while. They both brought so much baggage into the relationship on top of which Jughead doesn’t know how to set better boundaries bc he’s never really seen a healthy relationship and Betty had way too much going on to acknowledge the fact that she and Jughead were making each other worse not better at a certain point.
The graduation episode I believe it is when Betty admits that she kissed Archie during hedwig is one of the saddest moments bc when she says “I need to tell you something” he knows exactly what she did and he’s not even surprised. But he doesn’t let go. He just holds on tighter. Which again I understand bc she’s the only person who’s ever really cared about him, but this is at least the second time she’s kissed Archie while still dating Jughead and at a certain point you have to say this isn’t working anymore.
Side note but I also felt so so bad for Veronica when Archie tells her about the kiss. I don’t have particularly strong feelings for varchie one way or the other but she deserved so much better than that.
I feel like this is just an incoherent mess but im gonna post it anyways and see if any of y’all can make sense of it
Soooo.... How did the hair bleaching go??? 👀👀
AAAAA!! Okay, it went fine luckily 😭 I’ve dyed and bleached my hair before but I don’t think I’ll ever get too used to it, I haven’t bleached my hair in like 3-4 years so I was a little nervous. BUT, it went fine. My cheer coach noticed and was joking around that I’m now a stereotypical cheerleader (I’m a flyer, my hair is blonde, I’m sarcastic.. Like ever villain in high school movies) But, yeah, it went fine! I almost got bleach and my eye and thought I would go blind but luckily it got on the wall instead of my eye 💪💪
you see whenever i dont understand someone's sexuality or gender or pronouns or whatever i go "ohwell this has nothing to do w me!" and move on w my day
I'm tired of giving long-winded explanations for both of these so I made a meme about both it
[image ID: the shaking hands meme. The hand on the left says "christian witches" and the hand on the right says "christian queer people". Where they meet in the middle it says "the Bible is the word of God but it was written down and translated by flawed and biased humans so it's our right and responsibility to spend time with God and discern what we believe His will to be".]
Octavian: Sorry, where I should get the bus to go the cemetery?
Y/N!Child of Thanatos: In your face!
Octavian: "sarcastically" Lovely.
cw: chthonic aspect mention
Who is Odysseus?
Odysseus is a legendary hero, perhaps most famous for being the king of Ithaca. His other claims to fame include his skill with a bow, lateral thinking, trickster tendencies, and his homecoming. Like most heroes, Odysseus had a taste for glory, but his heart remained in Ithaca on his journeys. Ten years stood between him and his return to his wife and son, all because of a war he wanted no part in. Even when he feigned madness to avoid leaving home, the prophecy in place did not budge. He would fight in the Trojan war and, in doing so, he would become one of the most famous heroes Greece would ever know.
Why worship Odysseus?
If you’ve ever felt stranded, far away from home or comfort, you have something in common with Odysseus. As brave as he was, he wasn’t immune to sorrow and loneliness. But he didn’t give up. Fate actively worked against him and he (with the help of Gods) survived pain and torment to arrive at the place where he belonged.
To those of you who feel hopeless, isolated, and alone—Odysseus understands. He made it home, and you can too. Call on him for help along your journey, or even for nothing more than a reminder that humans can overcome even the most intimidating obstacles.
How should I worship him?
As a hero, Odysseus should be worshipped in a chthonic fashion. Pour our libations for him, have feasts in his honor, put together an altar that is low to the ground. What you offer him is up to you, but I will provide a short list to point you in the right direction.
Red Wine
Olive Oil
Meat (sheep or cow, preferably)
Fruits
Honey
Water
Coins
Cakes
