My Partner & I Recently Transitioned To Being Best Friend Platonic Partners And Romantically Separated

comic panel 1: lake driving with meg in passenger seat; speech bubble from lake says “So… i realized this year i’m more toward the boy side of the gender spectrum… so our genders and sexualities don’t fully line up…”
comic panel 2: meg in the passenger seat excitedly saying “what a coincidence! I realized this year i want to raise kids eventually and i know you don’t”
comic panel 3: a view from outside the car with lake and meg high fiving inside, confetti explodes around the car and two banners at the top and bottom read “BESTIES DIVORCE”
drawing of lake lit in a spotlight with a microphone jauntily gesturing at meg, in another spotlight, saying “ladies, my wife is SINGLE!!”. glowing neon signs point to meg that read “FUNNY”, “CLEVER”, “HOT” and “THOUGHTFUL”
sketch of lake saying “i am also single but ‘people of all genders, i’m single’ is not nearly as funny as ‘ladies, my wife is single’ and, like a hammerhead that stops swimming, if i stop being funny i’ll die. also my wife is a catch and you should date her”
sketch of lake and meg in cowboy outfits holding a banner that reads “JUST (several months ago) PARDNER’D (platonically)”

my partner & i recently transitioned to being best friend platonic partners and romantically separated (due to some simple romantic incompatibilities) - we're both very happy with and excited about this change and most importantly we think it is VERY funny and gay to continue doing everything together and living together as exes

Tommorow and Tommorow and Tommorrow is not meant to be read in as many days as the title suggests. This amount of time simply does not allow for your heart wishing to stay in one peice

• An Oxford comma walks into a bar, where it spends the evening watching the television, getting drunk, and smoking cigars.

• A dangling participle walks into a bar. Enjoying a cocktail and chatting with the bartender, the evening passes pleasantly.

• A bar was walked into by the passive voice.

• An oxymoron walked into a bar, and the silence was deafening.

• Two quotation marks walk into a “bar.”

• A malapropism walks into a bar, looking for all intensive purposes like a wolf in cheap clothing, muttering epitaphs and casting dispersions on his magnificent other, who takes him for granite.

• Hyperbole totally rips into this insane bar and absolutely destroys everything.

• A question mark walks into a bar?

• A non sequitur walks into a bar. In a strong wind, even turkeys can fly.

• Papyrus and Comic Sans walk into a bar. The bartender says, "Get out -- we don't serve your type."

• A mixed metaphor walks into a bar, seeing the handwriting on the wall but hoping to nip it in the bud.

• A comma splice walks into a bar, it has a drink and then leaves.

• Three intransitive verbs walk into a bar. They sit. They converse. They depart.

• A synonym strolls into a tavern.

• At the end of the day, a cliché walks into a bar -- fresh as a daisy, cute as a button, and sharp as a tack.

• A run-on sentence walks into a bar it starts flirting. With a cute little sentence fragment.

• Falling slowly, softly falling, the chiasmus collapses to the bar floor.

• A figure of speech literally walks into a bar and ends up getting figuratively hammered.

• An allusion walks into a bar, despite the fact that alcohol is its Achilles heel.

• The subjunctive would have walked into a bar, had it only known.

• A misplaced modifier walks into a bar owned by a man with a glass eye named Ralph.

• The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

• A dyslexic walks into a bra.

• A verb walks into a bar, sees a beautiful noun, and suggests they conjugate. The noun declines.

• A simile walks into a bar, as parched as a desert.

• A gerund and an infinitive walk into a bar, drinking to forget.

• A hyphenated word and a non-hyphenated word walk into a bar and the bartender nearly chokes on the irony

Gender Envy Take 2

Not long ago people attacked gay and lesbian people for being sexual predators. These days the same arguments are used against trans people.

image

Right wing extremists and left wing “trans-exclusionary radical feminists” (TERFs)  are arguing that trans women are a threat to cis women and children. The tactic is to sexualize transgender people, reducing their gender identity to some kind of perversion.

This is not in any way a new tactic, historically. It has been used against feminists, people of color and gay men and lesbian women.

So, you might ask why lesbian are using the same tactics against trans people, as straight, cis, people used against their kind. They have clearly learned nothing from history.

Over at twitter The Implausible Girl has collected a wide variety of newspaper clippings documenting the arguments used against gay men and lesbian women.  I will present some of them here.

The Cult Argument

One typical argument used about trans people is that they are part of a cult that uses propaganda to harm cis people. The same argument was used against gay people.

There's an auction to support the Motion Picture and Television Fund for healthcare for those striking in Hollywood and there's the usual Zooms and dinners with actors, but some of the biddable items are absolutely unreal in the best way

“Speak not of what men deserve. For we each of us deserve everything, every luxury that was ever piled in the tombs of the dead kings, and we each of us deserve nothing, not a mouthful of bread in hunger. Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.”

god like nobody talks about just how traumatic puberty can be for trans people. it isn't just the typical "my body is changing", it's "my body is changing in a way that does not match how I see myself. every day I look at myself and i see less and less who I really am. there is nothing I can do about this and (likely) I don't know anyone going through the same thing." the helplessness of it all and the way that people start treating you even more differently, and not being able to express what's wrong- it's hellish. it compares to body horror, almost. it's traumatic, and i hope that one day no other trans person will have to suffer as much.
