Dumbass RPG character idea:
A roguishly handsome adventurer who otherwise doesn't seem to much care for maintaining his rugged good looks, but is comically particular of his iconic ridiculous hat, which he never takes off. Like, ever. He sleeps with the hat tilted over his eyes, won't remove it indoors even at a dining table, bathes while wearing it. Nobody wants to know how the hell he washes his hair. Telling him to remove the hat is an absolute dealbreaker - if any place demands that he removes the hat before stepping inside, he'll rather wait outside by the door while the rest of the party does their business inside. It's obnoxious but what are you gonna do.
Then, when trapped in a situation where the party must either sacrifice one of its members or all will die, the guy volunteers, on one condition: the party must take his precious hat, and give it to someone worthy. Ideally someone spectacularly handsome who will look good in it, but he'd rather have anyone at all wear it, than nobody at all. Nobody in the party, though - none of them are allowed to wear his hat. Baffled but grateful, the party agrees to his conditions.
Some time later, once the rest of the party has escaped, they slap the hat on the first person they encounter and deem sufficiently fitting. The person freezes in shock, blinks twice, and suddenly shifts their stance to a familiar posture, sighing "oh thank the gods, you actually fucking did it", in a new voice but a familiar style and intonation. The character was never The Guy, it's a demon bound to the hat, who possesses whoever is wearing the garment.

Ok I have beef with amatonormativity (the assumption that everyone prospers in an exclusive romantic relationship).
There’s a friend of mine. He’s a guy. He’s done a lot for me and I love him in a very naive platonic kind of way. They was you do your best friends.
When he gets happy his nose crinkles and his voice cracks and when he’s sad he gets the deeply pensive and world weary look and he’s always wearing shirts with holes in them.
He’s got two kids and the way he behaves with them just makes my traumatized heart hurt because he’s so gentle and wholesome and it’s so sweet.
I can’t talk to my mother about it because she always makes it wierd. In fact, most people like to make it wierd.
Can we just normalize having friends of different genders, different ages, different life-stages, and being allowed to love them? Why does love have to be this strange word that carries such a heavy stigma?
Isn’t it love to bake your injured friend a lasagna?
Isn’t it love to give someone a cool rock you found? Or a little trinket that reminded you of them?
Isn’t it love to want to make their day better and to see them smile?
Amatonormativity is killing kindness. Let me compliment people just because they look good in that shirt or because they have a nice smile. Just because. Let me be affectionate with my friends without it being wierd. Let me call them silly names or get them dinner without it automatically being called flirting.
Just let me love people in all the little ways i want to.

trying very hard to view the idea that someone could be attracted to me as something other than an impossible fantasy
Parents always say this:
"You're smart. Therefore, it's okay for me to expect more of you."
"You're smart. Therefore, I don't have to care how I explain things to you."
"You're smart. Therefore, it's okay for me to assume that any mistakes you make are intentional."
"You're smart. Therefore, if you say that you struggle with something, it's okay for me to assume that you're just lazy, afraid, lacking confidence, lacking motivation, or any other excuse to dismiss your struggles as fake.
but never this:
"You're smart. Therefore, I will put my authority aside and consider the possibility that you are right and I am wrong.
Like any abusive authority figure, they want you to be smart enough to uphold their authority but not smart enough to challenge their authority.
