notes: grumpy x sunshine also. basically just yap yap yap reader and bro stfu katsuki. based on some prompt i remember seeing forever ago. deviating from my usual 'reader and katsuki childhood friends go to ua tg' bc this is such a cute idea

the field is buzzing, students from different hero schools gathering in small groups and instructors calling out over the noise generating quite the racket. there’s tension, excitement, and a bit of rivalry in the air. class 1-a stands off to the side, eyes scanning the new arrivals. bakugo stands isolated from the group with his arms crossed, mouth already in a deep scowl.

he hates group exercises. hates surprise training simulations. hates-

“katsuki!!”

and then it happens.

a blur comes flying in from the other side of the field. he hears it before he sees it, and by the time he turns his head, it’s too late. you launch yourself at him from behind, tackling him in a full-body hug that actually makes him take a step forward. his body tenses immediately, hands twitching instinctively like he might throw you off-

but he doesn’t. he would never.

“kats! kats!” you giggle, climbing halfway up his back like he’s your personal jungle gym. you hook your chin over his shoulder, big goofy grin stretching across your face as you hug him tight. “hi!!”

there’s a long pause. bakugo doesn’t move. doesn’t shout. doesn’t blow anything up. the whole world stills in suspense.

eventually, he sighs, a hint of a not-angry expression present on his face. "hi."

“uh… are we… seeing this?” kirishima says under his breath, eyes wide.

“kats, i swear, it feels like it’s been forever since i’ve seen you! i mean, seriously, how is it that we’re both doing this hero thing and still barely getting any time to hang out? it’s like the universe just hates us or something. i’ve been stuck in this crazy hellfire intensity training like all week, and it’s not even the fun kind, it’s just endless drills and lectures and like ugh ohmygod, i’m so over it. anyway, i missed you kats!! how are you? healthy? well? making friends? wait, who am i kidding. youre definitely healthy because youre like a health-conscious old man, and definitely no friends."

you’re talking so fast he doesn’t have time to respond to anything. he just stares down at you, not saying a word or moving an inch.

eventually, he reaches out, drops a heavy hand onto your head, and mutters, “shut up.”

you beam like he just handed you flowers. “there he is,” you giggle, grabbing his arm and hugging it to your chest. “so grumpy. so cute. i miiiissed you!”

he grumbles something pissy under his breath, but makes no move to pull away.

aizawa’s voice cuts through the air. “pair off.”

despite you already hanging on him, bakugo grabs you immediately. “we’re teaming up.”

“wait, what?” mina says from behind him. “you’re not gonna work with us?”

“we’re teaming up,” he snaps again, louder this time, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

“but you always-”

“shut up. all of you. shut. the fuck. up.”

you’re already bouncing beside him, eyes bright. “oh my god, kats, i have so many ideas. okay, okay—what if you blow a hole in the wall and you know how i texted you last week about that new feature on my costume? i could use that to- wait! or we could climb over the roof and-”

“you talk too much,” he mutters, dragging you along gently despite his annoyed expression.

“you love it,” you sing, completely unbothered.

he doesn’t answer.

but the tiniest corner of his mouth tugs up.

to paint a clear picture, he doesn’t have his hearing aids in, and you two are in resting in bed after a few rounds of making love (and consoling your fiancée when he started tearing up and signing about how he was fucking pissed he couldn’t hear you moaning his name)

the sun’s orange glow as it sets just outside your window beams a gorgeous light onto you both, glistening with sweat. it’s a comfortable few minutes before you remember a juicy story you’d overheard earlier that day, and you gently tap the space next to your lover (you didn’t have to though cuz he was already staring at you with cheesy adoration).

you slightly pull yourself away from his beefy chest to begin expressively signing your daily piece of gossip. you always speak out loud when you sign, even though you know he can’t hear you. and as you’re signing with speedily, facial expressions big and enthusiastic, katsuki’s eyes dart to your lips every two seconds, nostalgically remembering the sound of your gorgeous voice before the war.

he huffs, signing wait. you pause with confusion before he shuffles forward so two of his fingers could rest on your throat. he feels you swallow and a little grin writes itself upon his face. he gives you a tiny nod to continue. and he smiles at the heavy buzzing against his digits.

Note: I honestly love how this story turned out other than how it ended as I know that I could've come up with a better ending or even make it longer than it is. But since I was kind of on a time crunch with trying to get it done by today as I worked on it last night, I didn't have the time to make the ending better than what it is.

The moment that you realized that your feelings for Izuku Midoriya had changed from liking him as a long-time friend to something more was when he had saved your life while fighting a villain with Super Strength.

You were holding your own against the villain for a good while until you were distracted by the civilians nearby.

That had caused the villain to grab you by the throat and lifting you up into the air.

You struggle against his grip on you, but to no avail.

"Seems like this'll be your final fight, lil hero." the villain chuckles menacingly.

You're about to reply with something snide, only to get interrupted by the villain getting punched in the face, hard.

With the villain not holding you by the throat anymore, you gasp for air as you fall to the ground.

After a moment, you catch your breath, and once you do, you look up to see Izuku standing in front of you in between you and the villain.

"Izuku..." you whisper as you stare up at him.

You saying his name seems to catch his attention as he turns his face so that he's looking back at you.

"(Y/N), you alright?" he asks you, clearly worried.

"Yeah... I'm alright." you respond with a nod just as you see the villain get back up to his feet. "Thank you for that, by the way."

"You're welcome," he says back to you, all the while giving you a smile that makes your heartflutter.

"Well, well, well," the villain says causing both you and Izuku to turn to him again. "if it isn't the future number 1 hero."

"Seems like you were expecting me." Izuku says to him.

"Well, obviously," the villain chuckles, his eyes moving to look from Izuku to you. "I figured you'd come to (H/N)'s rescue like you always seem to."

"Is that so?" Izuku asks and you see his fists clench in anger.

"Well then, you got your wish." he continues as black and green wisps of energy start appearing around him.

"Izuku," you call out. "Let me help you."

"No (Y/N)," he says, his eyes not leaving the villain.

"You need to get those civilians out of here and get them to safety."

"But-" you try and protest, but he cuts you off.

"Just go!" he commands to which you obey all though you don't want to just do nothing against the villain, even though without Izuku getting here when he had, you would've been a goner by now.

You grunt as you get to your feet, your body sore and achy. "Just be careful, alright?" you question as you stare at Izuku's back as he prepares to fight the villain.

"I will, I promise." he nods, his green eyes meeting yours.

With him promising that he'll be alright, you make your way over to the civilians who have been watching nearby, telling them to follow you so that you can lead them to safety, leaving Izuku to take care of the villain.

╭⋅ When you first tell Hinata that you're pregnant, his brain short-circuits. ╭⋅ His eyes widen, his mouth opens and closes like a fish, and he just stares at you in disbelief. ╭⋅ For a few moments, you can tell he's freaking out inside. His leg starts bouncing nervously, and he looks like he's trying to figure out how the universe works now. ╭⋅ After a few seconds, the shock is replaced by awe. ╭⋅ The gears in his head start turning fast, and you can almost see his nervousness morph into excitement right before your eyes. (it kinda scares u cuz is like why da fuk is he happy==???) ╭⋅ He stands up so fast that he nearly knocks over his bento. "I'm gonna be a dad!!" he shouts, unable to contain himself. ╭⋅ Hinata instantly starts thinking about how to improve himself so he can be a dad his child will be proud of. ╭⋅ He's already imagining his kid watching him play volleyball and beaming with pride. ╭⋅ He starts brainstorming baby names, wondering if they'll be a mini volleyball player, too. ╭⋅ "Do you think they'll like volleyball? You and Hinata sit together at your usual spot outside, under a tree near the school courtyard. The sounds of students chatting and laughing fill the air, but your heart pounds louder than any of it. You’ve been anxious all day, rehearsing what you’re about to say. Hinata, meanwhile, is scarfing down his bento like it’s his last meal on Earth.

“Y/N, you barely touched your food!” he says between bites. “Are you feeling okay?” You take a deep breath, your hands shaking slightly.

“Hinata… I need to tell you something. It’s… really important.”

His chopsticks freeze mid-air, and he looks at you with wide, curious eyes.

“Important? What’s wrong? Did something happen?” (In his poor mind he thinks u wanna break up)

You can’t bring yourself to meet his gaze, so you look down at your lap. “I’m… I’m pregnant.”

The words hit him like a volleyball to the face. He stares at you, mouth slightly open, completely stunned. His chopsticks clatter to the ground, forgotten.

“W-Wait… you’re serious?” he stammers, his voice softer now.

You nod, tears prickling at the corners of your eyes.

“I know it’s a lot, and I don’t expect you to have all the answers. I just… I needed to tell you.” For a moment, you worry he’s overwhelmed. His gaze flickers between you and the ground, his leg bouncing nervously. But then, suddenly —

“I’m gonna be a dad?” His voice is filled with awe.

You nod again, and before you can say anything more, his expression shifts into something completely unexpected — pure, unfiltered joy.

Hinata jumps to his feet, grinning ear to ear almost dropping his bento. “I’m gonna be a dad!” he says louder this time, drawing a few curious glances from nearby students.

You grab his hand, laughing through your tears.

“Shoyo, keep it down! They might hear you!"

But he can’t help himself. He crouches back down next to you, his excitement bubbling over. “This is crazy! I mean, I was nervous for, like, five seconds, but now… wow! We’re gonna have a kid!” he whispers excitedly

You can’t help but smile at his enthusiasm, the warmth of it chasing away your own fears. “You’re… not scared?”

He tilts his head, thinking for a moment.

“Well, yeah! I don’t know the first thing about being a dad. But…” He grabs your hand, squeezing it tightly. “I know one thing — I’m gonna try my best. Just like with volleyball! I’ll keep working hard, so one day, our kid can be proud of me.” Hinata’s mind is already racing.

“I’ll practice even harder, Y/N! I’ll make it to nationals, maybe even go pro! I want our kid to see me on TV and think, ‘That’s my dad!’” His eyes sparkle with determination. You laugh, wiping your tears.

“You’re already thinking that far ahead?” “Of course!” He leans closer, resting his forehead against yours. “This isn’t just about me anymore. It’s about us — and the little one.”

The sincerity in his voice makes your heart swell.

As the lunch bell rings, Hinata stands up and offers his hand to you.

“Come on! Let’s go tell Kageyama.”

“What?!” you squeak, blushing.

“Okay, maybe not right away,” he says with a grin. “But eventually! I want everyone to know that I’m excited to be a dad and kageyama has to be the first one.”

Hand in hand, you walk back toward the school.

Hinata Shoyo, your energetic, passionate boyfriend, may not have all the answers. But one thing is certain — he’s all in, ready to take on this new challenge with the same boundless energy and heart that made you fall in love with him in the first place. And with every step, you feel more certain that everything will be okay.
