I just read DS Ink's backstory and I am curious about how DS acted(and looked) before being snatched up by the military? If he had not been snatched up by the military at a very young age and turned into a human weapon. Would he still be a douchebag or just nicer?
about that. I'm not entirely sure. back when I was working on the story, I never thought much about it. (also the funny thing about ink being called a douchebag back in the day is that it seems super weird to call ink that, haha. he's just very blunt and always says what he's thinking even if it's not kind or thought-through. plus some other odd thought processes of his regarding his work. don't worry about it.)
I think there are some parts of ink's personality that are consistent, like the no-filter thing, since his/her personality is very similar in fatal flaws and there's no military backstory there. in any case, in ds, he was taken when he was little, so his personality wasn't particularly strong at the time. he was probably just a misbehaved kind of kid and would've grown into a misfit teen. one of those kids who gets told "you're talented so why don't you try harder :(" all the time and keeps getting his parents called into the office.
this is a tangent, but to be honest, ink's whole military backstory isn't very fleshed out. it was one of the last things to be added to ds before I stopped working on it and a lot of the ideas relating to it, and the details never really grew on me. a lot of stuff regarding his difficulty with feelings were not very articulate or thoughtful. I think now the whole thing about him being brainwashed by the military, the thing about the electroshocks and the codewords, was pretty contrived (did I ever even explain those?). it was basically just 'look, he's like an edgy winter soldier version of ink sans, he has a big band thing' and now I'm just like. wow, that sure doesn't work. even if I tried to make it a dark comedy thing, it doesn't really fit that well to me.
I think I prefer the idea that he got taken in by his country's military, barely remembers his family who willingly gave him up, and that's about it. and because he was raised that way, he thought there wasn't anything else to his life. and so, he's used to being ordered around, and that's why he went on to work for jr so quickly. there's just no point in his entire will being compromised by a military when all they have to do is tell him from a young age that he's being a hero, even if he stops believing it when he's older.
so, anyway, sorry about turning this into a rant, I've just been thinking about it recently. ink was just a normal kid. who like, apparently had weird inexplicable superpowers. ds's lore sure is a thing. and yeah, the problem is, if you take away his brainwashing, there aren't any other explanations for his amnesia unless he has trauma-induced memory gaps, but uh. I sort of forgot he had amnesia until right now. that's what happens when you make a character out of order.
Hola a todos!! Hoy voy a redibujar un dibujo que publiqué anteriormente, esta mejorado, pero, no quiere decir que no lo vuelva a Redibujar.
Eso es todo... Nos vemos~
Stanley is smart.
He doesn't know it. No one knows it. Nobody truly saw the hidden depths of Stanley's mind. All their lives, they've been told: Stanford was smart. Academic. Bright. A world by his fingertips. Brimming with potential. His mind alone was worth millions. Stanley was lucky to be worth a cent. People knew where to look, where to point their attention, and it was never at Stan.
Ford was smart, Stan is right there. Ford was going places, Stan is right there. Ford will one day bestow upon the wisdom the world needs. Stan is right there.
But Stanley is smart. No one else knew.
Because no one knows what sharpness it took to craft the perfect lie. No one knows what understanding it takes to make masses grin in the wake of their words. No one knows what experience it belows to seemingly tip the scales of Lady Fortune herself in one's own favor as easy as breathing.
No one knows what cleverness it took to trick a trickster of the mind itself. No one knows, when Ford's own mind had dimmed with grief and despair, his hope crushed under inky black fingers bit by bit, Stan's had shone through, burning so brightly it took the two inhabitants away. No one knows what resilience of the mind it takes, to reach into the depths of their own mishapen, shattered remains and pick itself up at the call of their of their loved ones.
But Stanford knows. Stanford always knew.
Stanley is smart. He's always been smart. He keeps getting smart, every day, every minute and every second.
...
Stanford can only hope he doesn't get too smart. He can only hope that the lavender haze that plagues Stan's eyes blurs the signs enough so that he'll never be wise.
Because the day Stan wisens up, he'll understand what everyone— teachers, their father, Ford, and himself— was wrong. The day Stan wisens up, he'll see Ford as the walking chain of his insecurities and hurt that held him down for decades.
The day Stan wisens up, he'll know, and he will leave Ford to flounder.
Ford hopes Stan never knows how smart he really is. He would stay right there, just by Ford's side.
Brother that gon be one toxic relationship 😭
listen i don't care if its a toxic relationship as long as
there's potential to change and develop
it's not being glorified or put in a light that would suggest it's something people should actively look for and indulge in in a relationship
while I'm not one to completely rely my argument on "oh it's fiction so you can do whatever you want with no consequences" it's important to distinguish that nobody is actually being hurt as it is in fiction.
a lot of relationships in fiction are inherently toxic but i dont think that should take away enjoyment from the media.
blue and error's relationship was inherently toxic (yes, even after the reworks, they still had a toxic relationship at some point) but they were able to still develop and change as characters
it's not that we should be like "uurrgh toxic relationships are always bad because everyone needs to be perfectly healthy" because that's just unrealistic both in fiction in real life like nobody is perfect people are human and humans can get toxic that's just how it is
