Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldn’t just exist for you as a nice idea. That’s why more libraries shut every year

not to sound old fashioned or whatever but getting rid of payphones is a mistake, and the only reason we should do it is if we're replacing them with free, public use phones. Having the ability to reach out to others in every place of public congress and transit is an important safety feature and the advent and adoption of smartphones does not negate their utility.

I know i've already lost this battle, so it's somewhat pointless to say, but smartphones die. chargers aren't always there. smartphones break. some people don't have them. Being able to call someone and ask for help, to get in touch with friends and family, without relying on something you yourself own, is a societal good.

Furthermore, expecting everybody to have a single piece of fragile technology on them at all times to the point that critical services are not available without them is truly mind-boggling to me. This goes for things like restaurant menus and transit maps as well. you should be able to navigate the world without a brick made by Apple or Samsung, and if you can't, then something is fundamentally broken. It's one thing for new technology to augment an existing real-world experience, it's another thing to usurp it entirely.

Fuck hostile architecture, I want unhostile architecture. I want benches to be designed to be as easy as possible to sleep on. Solar panels are now so cheap, Europeans are building fences with them

The panels capture less sunlight when used as fencing than they do on roofs, but the process saves on high labour and scaffolding costs, according to analysts and posts on social media by households that have installed them.

“This is the result of solar panels getting so cheap that we’re just putting them everywhere,” said Jenny Chase, lead solar analyst at BloombergNEF. “Since installation cost — labour, scaffolding — is the vast majority of the cost of installing a rooftop PV [photovoltaic] system, it can make sense.”

“Why put up a fence when you can just put up a load of solar panels, even if they’re not aligned exactly to the sun?” says Martin Brough, head of climate research at BNP Paribas Exane. “Where the panels themselves are just incredibly cheap, the constraints become the installation costs and the sites . . . you get a bit of a DIY mentality.”

Sky and Brandon switch places at an incredibly early age, think 6 years old, and until the switch is revealed to everyone it has been 11 years of Brandon posing as Sky.

Nobles and commoners alike have spent 11 years building relations with Brandon. They've gone to parties and balls with him, various kingdom's celebrations, weddings and baptisms, and birthdays and funerals, hunting trips, gallerie openings, concerts and others, (cause Erendor likes to pretend everything is fine, and having is heir locked up 24/7 doesn't make sense, does it?). Brandon who is a lot more confident and self assured, who's funny and a little goofy, an extrovert and clearly a "people" person. He's charming and gallant, and noble and everything Sky thinks he's not.

Sky loves him to death, that's his brother right there, but he can't help feeling like when the ruse is over, he'll never measure up to all that Brandon has done as him. And he hates it, but he can't help wishing once in a while that Brandon would've failed early on, freeing him of having to live up to this version of Sky that Brandon has concocted for 10+ years.

There is no better feeling to me than knowing i had leftovers in the fridge and knowing they went missing because of my little brother. The container sits empty and dirty by the sink and there’s not a scrap left. Just this morning he insisted he wasn’t gonna touch it bc i probably poisoned it. He made a face as if there was trash in the container rather than food. I come home later, and the leftovers are gone. My brother is fed. Im content in knowing that I’ll never have a problem of having made too much food. I will just always give it to him. I asked earlier today if he wants waffles for tomorrow morning. “Can you make them with chocolate chips?” He asks, a little polite. “Yeah.” I smile. “I’m also gonna put poison in it. And a bomb.”

One of the bummers of being a super taster is how Big mold tastes. And because I can taste it before it’s actually sprouting I’m often disbelieved. Like, sorry restaurant. I know I’ve gotten this sandwich before and I know your cucumber is usually fresh, but today it’s moldy. I understand you can’t see the mold. But I swear. It’s there.

Tonight we had hot dogs and we picked up the buns today. Unfortunately neither of us realized the best by date was also today. The first bun I had was fine but I hit corruption midway down the second bun. I just ate the hotdog bun less, but we had to scrap the rest of the bag.

Puritanism is getting worse around the globe and conservatives and fascists will absolutely be first going harder against porn, then use that against queer people. You HAVE to realise this and oppose anti porn measures and laws, be in solidarity with sex workers, and listen to them when they call this shit out. It's going to be vitally important.
