Sometimes I wonder how different my mental health would be if I never got into supernatural
My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.
What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"
"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.
Girl are you the Hays Code the way you consider media irredeemable if it depicts anything that strays away from the norm you're comfortable with or depicts anything morally questionable without definitively condemning it and anyone associated with it, therefore creating worse stories and content and making it difficult for people to engage with complicated issues from a nuanced and controlled perspective?
something to be said about andor giving us two three-episode arcs to begin with and then just. not letting the ninth episode be a cathartic prison break. “ah, sorry, were you expecting something different to happen? no, you are going to keep sitting with the horror. and also these additional horrors.”
like that’s craft, there. they trained us to a rhythm so they could stutter-step it, drawing out the experience, a small mimicry of the interminable intolerable conditions of imprisonment & subjugation depicted in these episodes.
Favourite Trash Can Man.
it's a lot of stuff...
Interview with the vampire is sooo funny because jacob anderson is giving the performance of a lifetime as a black man struggling with identity in the early 1900s through the metaphor of vampirism and sam reid spends all of his screentime prancing around like a cartoon pony on amphetamines and theyre both equally captivating to watch
no but. the moment he laid a hand on dean in hell he was lost. the moment.
