(Y/N) leaned closer, her eyes glinting with mischief. “Then you won’t mind visiting a haunted site with me to test that theory?”

But time had weakened the barriers, and the Entity had broken free, bent on finishing what it started—destroying the world.

As Egon’s only descendant, it was now (Y/N)’s responsibility to stop it, permanently.

Unfortunately, Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha accidentally got involved. One moment, they were in the lab, making a machine that can turn plastic bottle caps into a usable petroleum, senku was currently working on a mew project(he can't just be a ghostbuster forever, he wants to go to the moon after all) the next they were running for their lives from a rampaging spectral nightmare.

“Okay, I’ll admit—this is terrifying!!” Taiju panted, dodging a flying chair.

“SENKU, Can you do something about this?!” Yuzuriha shrieked as a spectral claw swiped inches from her face.

“…Tch. Fine. I think I can” Senku gritted his teeth. “Ghosts aren’t supposed to be real, but this thing is obviously something.”

He had no choice but to throw his logic out the window and help (Y/N) trap the Entity before it could cause more damage. Together, they reassembled the old Ghostbusters’ equipment, upgraded it, and became an unlikely team. Senku, against his better judgment, became the team’s chief scientist, helping (Y/N) develop even more advanced ghost-catching technology. Taiju, with his sheer strength, handled the heavy lifting, and Yuzuriha provided agility and strategy.

Thus, the New Ghostbusters were born.

It was chaos. It was thrilling. And, much to Senku’s dismay, it was real.

For months, they worked together, tracking down supernatural anomalies, recapturing rogue spirits, and sealing away the Entity’s power.

Their first real ghost capture as a team didn’t go as smoothly as they had hoped.

(Y/N) had managed to track down a rogue spirit haunting an abandoned warehouse, and they knew they needed transportation. It wasn’t hard to find it—the old Ecto-1 was still hidden away, gathering dust in an old storage unit that (Y/N)’s family owned.

“Are we really doing this?” Taiju asked, looking between the rusted car and the gleam in (Y/N)’s eyes.

“Of course we are,” Senku said, already prying open the hood. “But first, we need to make sure this thing actually runs.”

Hours of fixing later, they had the car up and running. But there was just one problem.

“Tch. I've been doung that since I'm what? less than 7 years old?” Senku said with snake like tongue. "There's no illegal in science as long as we move forward!!"

Decked out in the original Ghostbusters uniforms (refitted to their sizes), they hit the road, siren blaring. The thrill of driving an iconic car, breaking multiple traffic laws, and going after a ghost made their adrenaline spike.

Once inside the haunted warehouse, they activated their proton packs. The ghost, a poltergeist with a nasty attitude, shrieked and threw debris at them.

“On my mark!” (Y/N) shouted, dodging a flying crate. “Three, two—NOW!”

Senku and (Y/N) fired their proton streams, locking the ghost in place while Taiju leaped in, tossing the ghost trap beneath it.

“Hit it!” Yuzuriha stomped on the pedal, and the trap sucked the ghost in, snapping shut with a satisfying click.

Silence. Then, laughter. or in rhis case, Senku slumpung out of exhaustion, I don't think he's build for this tyoe of work, he's a scrawny guy, a stick... literally.

“That was awesome!” Taiju beamed.

“No Taiju kun, that was dangerous,” Yuzuriha huffed. “And highly illegal might I add”

(Y/n) smirked. “Heh. Welcome to fhe world of supernatural I guess, as a scientist this gadgets and traps is really awesome”

Meanwhile, Senku narrow his eyes at (Y/) "though i doubt this is what a logical scientist should do".

"Oh just drop it already and accept this new part of your reality, you leek".

As they drove off into the night, siren wailing, they had no idea that their adventures were only beginning.

Through it all, Senku found himself drawn to (Y/N) in ways he never expected. She was his opposite yet his equal, a scientist at heart but a believer in the unknown. They argued constantly, debated endlessly, and somewhere along the way… fell for each other.

Their relationship was slow, a natural progression of intellectual admiration turning into something more. Late-night research sessions turned into long conversations about science and the supernatural, which turned into playful banter and stolen glances. Senku, ever the logical mind, found himself enjoying her company more than he anticipated. (Y/N) found comfort in someone who challenged her but never dismissed her entirely.

Chat Noir blinked, stepping protectively in front of you. “What are you talking about? She’s Ladybug. She’s saved Paris more times than we can count!”

“She’s not supposed to be here,” she said, her voice sharp as her glowing portal shimmered behind her. “Marinette Dupain-Cheng was supposed to be Ladybug. This version of reality shouldn’t exist! You’ve disrupted everything!”

You crossed your arms, unfazed. “Paris is safe, isn’t it? I’ve done my job. Heck I even did a good job saving this world”

Bunnix stepped closer, her tone accusatory. “You’ve changed it, I’ve seen it. Marinette was supposed to save Master Fu. She was supposed to receive the Miraculous. But you—you interfered. You stole her destiny!!”

Chat Noir stood protectively in front of you. “Hey, back off. Ladybug’s saved this city countless times. Who cares what was ‘supposed’ to happen and who can receive the Miraculous?!”

Bunnix glared at you both. “This isn’t just about this world. The timelines are unraveling because of her!”

You smirked, letting your mask of innocence drop. You gently push Chat noir aside, stepping closer to Bunnix.

“It doesn’t matter what was supposed to happen. I’m Ladybug now. I’m the Guardian, the center of this world. And if Chat Noir protecting me despite what I did isn’t proof enough that her fate as Ladybug now officially belongs to me… *smirk* Haven’t realized it yet? This world is now synchronizing with me, just like how a world favors the protagonist… Marinette wasn’t fit for this responsibility, and I made sure Paris got the hero it deserves. And unfortunately for her, this world agrees, whether you like it or not~” You whispered lowly to her

Bunnix clenched her fists. “You’ve broken the balance. Do you realize what you’ve done? The entire multiverse is at risk!”

You shrugged. “Then I’ll fix it. As the Guardian, I have authority over all the Miraculouses, including yours.”

Bunnix’s eyes widened in realization. “You wouldn’t—”

With a wave of your hand, you summoned the Bunny Miraculous. The portal behind Bunnix flickered and closed as her powers were stripped away. She staggered, powerless, and glared at you with fury.

“You can’t do this!” she shouted as she was returned to the timeline she came from.

“Oh, I can,” you said, your voice icy. “And I will.”

 You donned the Bunny Miraculous and rewrote reality, ensuring Marinette never became Ladybug in any timeline.

You stood tall, the portal you had summoned with Fluff's guidance shimmered with an ethereal glow, its swirling energies casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the rooftop. Beside you, Chat Noir’s green eyes were filled with uncertainty, a rare crack in his usually confident demeanor.

“Ladybug,” Chat Noir said softly, his voice almost pleading, “are you sure this is the right thing to do? I trust you, but... tampering with time feels... dangerous.”

You turned to him, a small, serene smile gracing your lips, the halo of your presence making him instinctively relax. The effect was subtle but undeniable—your words carried weight, as though the universe itself bent to support you. This power, this influence, wasn’t yours initially. You had stolen it, just like Marinette’s fate. But now, it was yours, and you wielded it masterfully.

“Chat Noir,” you began, your voice steady and filled with conviction, “this isn’t about what’s easy. It’s about what’s necessary.”

“But the timeline—changing things could destroy—”

“Destroy what, exactly?” you interrupted gently, your tone laced with practiced sincerity. “I’ve already disrupted it simply by being here. If I don’t act now, the balance will collapse entirely. I’ll vanish, Chat. We’ll vanish.”

He froze, his hands clenching tightly around his staff. “Vanish? What do you mean?”

Your expression softened, your red eyes glistening with what seemed like vulnerability. “I wasn’t meant to be here, remember? If the universe realizes I don’t belong, it’ll correct itself—and I’ll disappear, taking everything we’ve built with me. Paris will lose its Ladybug. You’ll lose me, Chat.”

The thought seemed to strike him deeply. His jaw tensed, his emerald gaze flickering with desperation. “I can’t let that happen. But why go to every timeline? Why stop... Marinette?”

You reached out, placing a gloved hand on his cheek. The gesture was intimate, calculated. “Because Marinette was never meant to have this power. She wasn’t strong enough. The sky above Paris was a canvas of pink and gold hues, a fitting backdrop for the triumphant end of an era. Hawkmoth had been defeated, his Miraculous reclaimed, and the balance of power restored. The Miracle Box was secured, its treasures now beyond the reach of those who would misuse them. For the first time in years, Paris was at peace, its people celebrating the heroes who had brought them here.

Standing atop the Eiffel Tower, you gazed over the city with Adrien by your side. The red and black of your Ladybug suit shimmered faintly in the setting sunlight, a symbol now synonymous with victory, hope, and resilience. Adrien, still in his Chat Noir guise but no longer bearing the same burdens, looked at you with admiration.

“You did it,” he said softly, a smile spreading across his face. “Ladybug, you saved everyone.”

The words should have brought unmitigated joy, and they did—partially. The world was safe, and Paris adored you. People cheered as your identity was revealed, their faith in their heroine unshaken. Even Adrien, your partner in battle and in life, stood unwaveringly by your side, his pride in you radiating like the sun.

The streets below were alive with celebration. Parisians rejoiced, the weight of fear and uncertainty finally lifted. Even beyond Paris, the world had embraced you as their Ladybug, their symbol of hope. For the first time, everything felt aligned, as though the universe itself had recognized your place at its center.

And yet, in the quiet moments between Adrien’s reassurances and the city’s applause, that tension remained.

Elsewhere in Paris, Marinette sat on the balcony of her cozy apartment, a faint smile playing on her lips as she watched Luka strum his guitar. The melody was soft and soothing, wrapping around her like a warm embrace.

“I never thought I’d see the day,” she said, her voice wistful but not bitter.

Luka glanced up, his expression calm and understanding. “The city is safe now. That’s what matters.”

She nodded, her gaze drifting to the distant Eiffel Tower. She didn’t envy you—not entirely. She had carved out a life for herself, a happy one. The bakery was thriving, her designs were starting to gain recognition, and Luka’s steady presence brought her a sense of peace she hadn’t known she needed.

But deep down, there was an ache she couldn’t quite ignore. She had once dreamed of being Ladybug, of carrying the weight of the Miraculous and protecting Paris. Back atop the Eiffel Tower, you stood with Adrien as the last rays of sunlight disappeared, casting the city in twilight. Paris was happy. The world was happy. And you were, too—or at least, you told yourself you were.

“Do you feel it?” Adrien asked, breaking the silence.

“Feel what?”

“The peace,” he said with a soft laugh. “It’s overwhelming. I’ve never seen Paris like this.”

You smiled, his words grounding you. “It’s everything I worked for.”

“And you deserve it,” he said firmly, pulling you into an embrace. “You deserve all of it.”

The weight of his belief in you was as comforting as it was daunting. For now, you let yourself believe it, let yourself bask in the happiness you had fought so hard to create.

A soft voice rang through the room reaching the ears of the white haired man. Mikey look up to see his youngest sister, Y/n looking at him with anticipation. The number 2 of Bonten, Sanzu Haruchiyo hurriedly goes into her room earlier for his older brother is having another episode of his dark impulsivity.

" Y/n "

" Mikey nii, you have to stop this already, Shin nii and Emma nee won't like what you're currently doing to yourself! "

" Stay out of this Y/n, this has nothing to do with you.. "

Mikey stand up from his bed and starting to walk out of his room

" Emma nee told me to take care of you! Keisuke and Shin nii too!! I promised them!! I promised them that I'll always look out for you.."

" You don't have to, I can take care of myself..."

Y/n gritted her teeth from the nonchalant tone of her brother "why can't you just let me in! just let me help you onii chan!"

Mikey snapped his head towards y/n giving her a deadly glare "I don't need you to take care of me nor do I need your help, you didn't even manage to save Emma from that hit back then, you're there and you didn't even do a thing, you just simply stood there and watch her get hit by Kisaki, so what gives you the right to say that you'll help me if you are even one of the reason I'm like this?!" He shouted while stomping out of the room. Y/n knows that he didn't mean any of it, she knows that it's just his dark impulsivity talking and they will eventually make up, but why...why does it hurt hearing it right from his own brother, y/n also blamed herself that time, mikey nii is right, she was there that time with takemitchy, yet she didn't able to do anything for her sister. Y/n carried that burden but choose not to dwell in it for she needs to be strong for her brother, well up until now before mikey bluntly mention it deeply wounding his little sister.

Y/n already knows that mikey kind of didn't like her, even when they were young, mikey is a bit jealous of y/n for having most of shinichiro's attention, it's also obvious that he favours Emma much more even though they spent more years together.

'Im not surprised anymore that he really hates me now' Y/n though with tears streaming down her cheeks 'I wonder...if I'm the one who dies, will he cry and grieve for me? I mean, he kind of grieved for Izana nii's death and they only met like once or twice so maybe?...'

Y/n wiped her tears off and go back to her room, she look out of the balcony and stare at the night sky, how beautiful it is, she think back to her younger days where Shinichiro bio would always take her into a nightly rides, Emma and her having a girl's night out, and mikey, even though he didn't like her so much, still give her some candies and dorayaki for a treat.

Y/n close her eyes tightly, her hands into a praying position making a wish to the thousand of stars that is currently littering the beautiful night sky and praying to the God out there who she hopefully will listen to her wish.

" God, Please! I'll do anything, Just give them back, I want Mikey nii to be happy!! Just give all his sufferings to me, Please, I'll pay the price, my life, my soul, my whole fucking existence even though I know it's so insignificant!! Just Please, please!! "

" Mikey! wake up already! " A hand suddenly tug his blanket down taking away the comforting feels, Mikey shot his eyes open once he heard the familiar voice of his sister, Emma.

'Wtf? Did I took some of sanzus drugs for myself?' mikey asked himself while standing up, he walks out of his room toward the dining table for breakfast, imagine the shock and bewilderment he feels when he not only find his already dead sister, why the hell is Shinichiro here?!

Okay that's it, 'i think I'm still high' mikey slap himself and pinch his face, unfortunately/fortunately he really is not hallucinating

"Manjiro, you alright?" His older brother asked him while looking at him worriedly

Mikey suddenly tear up when he realized that they're indeed real, Emma and Shinichiro is alive, he's also back in his 16 years old body, is this what takemitchy means by going back in time? But shinichiro's alive?

Emma and Shinichiro hurriedly went to Mikey's side to check if there's something wrong with their overly confident brother. Mikey just shake them off with his famous close eyed smile, saying that he's really alright before giving each of them a tight hug.

" I had this really weird dream where you guys are dead, Baji is dead and I disbanded Toman "

" Huh? You disbanding Toman? That's impossible, also, were alive manjiro, keisuke too is alive, so whatever dream you have, don't mind it already. "

"ahh your right, I just find it funny how I became the leader of a criminal organization in my dream...oh and there's also y/n, she's the only one that I have left in that dream, i should apologize to her later, after all, I said some pretty mean things to her, even though it's only a dream."

Shinichiro and Emma just stared at him strangely like he just said something weird

"speaking of, where's y/n? I dont see her, shouldn't wake her up Emma??"

"Mikey...Who's Y/n?"

Mikey stops himself from eating and stares at his two siblings

"she's our sister, Emma what do you mean who's y/n?"

"I don't know anyone named y/n, there's only 4 of us siblings, izana included, though he's not here right now for he's with kakucho..." Shinichiro said. Mikey excuse himself from the dining table and went to find his younger sister, y/n's old room inside the sano household only to find it just full of boxes and useless things.

Mikey felt fear creeps into his being, he knows he's not the best brother around when it comes to y/n but that doesn't mean he wants her gone, after all, y/n's the only person who kept him in check when he's in bonten, even if he try to deny it or something.

He run out of the house trying to find any trace of y/n only to find nothing, why, why did she suddenly disappear? Is this his punishment for being so mean to her? They're already complete, Shinichiro, Emma, even Izana is here, Toman too... So where is she? Where's y/n and why does he only know her?

Y/n...this is unfair, where are you?

Stockholm Syndrome really mentally fucked them up and now that five is angry at them and hates them and starts to ignore them, they start to feel like life is meaningless...... And just miserable in general.

when the light flicked green

You could see the car burning from the academy window, whatever villain he was facing wreaking havoc right outside.

He’s not okay. He’s not going to be okay. You need to make sure he’s okay.

He’d kill you if you did, though. But maybe, you thought, just maybe he’d appreciate it. Maybe he’d finally see how much you loved him, how much you cared.

With that, you threw on the first pair of shoes you could find, along with a sweatshirt. Sprinting toward the door, you attempted to open it, finding it locked.

“Shit, Five, why do you have to be so difficult?” you asked no one in particular, the air being your only companion at the moment. Looking around more frantically as you heard another scream come from the streets, you tried to find another exit. The window.

The window, the window, the window.

Speeding over to it, you fiddled with the lock. While you were doing that, you caught a glimpse of the ground, expecting to see a land of chaos, your boyfriend- or whatever he was- on the ground bleeding. But it was relatively clear. The lock was undone.

“What are you doing?” he hissed behind you. Turning around, jumping at the sudden noise, you faced him. You thought your eyes would be greeted with Five’s normally nonchalant form, but he was tenser, almost shaking from something you haven’t seen from him.

You smiled, only seeming to make him shake more. “I was trying to find you.”

“Bullshit.”

You paused, furrowing your brows. “Excuse me?”

“Don’t bullshit me. You’re only making this worse.”

“Making what worse? I didn’t do anything.”

You were in a room you didn’t even know existed; naked, cold, hungry, battered, bruised. You still didn’t know what you did.

Was it leaving your sneakers by the door? Was it the little stain you’d left on the towel accidentally when you had food on your fingers? You didn’t think those were a big deal, but apparently he did.

You would take that note for next time.

“Up,” he shouted from the top of the stairs. “Come on; I don’t have all day, now do I?”

Quickly, you got up, awaiting his arrival, but the look of disgust on his face made you want to shrink back into yourself. He threw a large, ripped t-shirt down to you. “Get dressed. I don’t want to see that.”

It wasn’t “I don’t need to see that,” or something else. He didn’t want to see you. He thought you were something disgusting, something to scrape off the bottom of his shoe.

“Come on. You have a long day ahead of you.”

You came out of that long day sporting at least eight new bruises.

You wiped the blood from your face with the raggedy t-shirt he’d left you with, wishing you a good night’s sleep as you had more to do the next day.

“You want to leave here?” he’d asked you. Even as you shook your head, begging him to tell you what you did wrong, he shushed you with a slap across the face. “Shut up; I don’t want to hear your pathetic whining. You want to leave? Huh? You’re helpless on your own, Sweetheart.” You used to love the nickname. Now it just gave you a deep gash that wasn’t physical. “You can’t do shit. And to show you that, I have a very specific list of things you’re going to do. Failure to complete the task will result in punishment.”

As if you weren’t already being punished by him, and if you weren’t being punished, you were being ignored. You didn’t know which was worse.

“Please, Five, you gotta listen. I didn’t do anything. I don’t know what I did. Was it the shoes? Was it the stain on the towel? I’m sorry; really, I am-”

“Shut up,” he would growl, taking another sip from the bottle that always seemed to be in his hand now.

You were locked in the basement for four days after that. No word from him; only his bruises lingering behind.

Poking and prodding at them, you began to feel a sense of comfort. It was as if he was there.

But now… now you didn’t really know if you wanted him, after all that he’d done, after what sick things he would do next.

You didn’t want him anymore.

It was routine now; you’d wake up, you’d make him breakfast. If anything was burned, you’d be beaten; once you were burned with the leftover grease. Then, you’d clean the bedroom from the night before. Sometimes there was another woman in there, the sheets stained with unnamable things. Other times, it was just bottles of whatever he’d gotten into. Then, you’d complete a list of tasks he’d compile for you. Then, no matter what you seemed to do, you’d get beaten again. There was always a mistake with you. Afterward, you’d make him dinner. You’d sit on the floor and watch him eat it. 

You would usually walk away with nothing; sometimes bread was chucked down the stairs. If he was feeling generous he’d drop it on the floor in front of you instead of chucking at your face.

Afterward, you’d go to sleep, ready to repeat it the next day.

You’d begun to feel nothing. You’d begun to break away from whatever love that was there for him, but with that, you broke away from everything that you had left. Anger, sadness. You stopped crying a month ago.

Then it happened. The first shots. You screamed.

You didn’t want to scream his name; but what choice did you have? The academy was long abandoned.

“It’s just a little more private, darling,” he’d told you one night, kissing your forehead. By that time, you were just falling in love with the man. “I’ll let you see people again, trust me, I will. But for now, we can just be together for a while.”

“Five!” you shouted. “Five, get me out of here!”

The door broke down, two men on the other side of it.

One had a smug expression on his face. “Well what do we have here, Evan? He has a girl? This should be good.”

You were well-prepared for what you faced there. Maybe you should’ve been thankful for what Five put you through. It toughened you up, you supposed.

Numbness is what you instilled within yourself. And numbness is most likely what you’d be feeling for a long time coming.

He’d torn the academy apart.

“Where have you gone, you little piece of shit?!” he shouted. A part of him mourned. A part of him wanted to grin.

You were getting what you deserved. Then, you’d be taken care of just as you should’ve before. Maybe in another year or two. For now, things would just have to be like this.

But what if they’re not lying?

No. You were lying. There was no way that you weren’t, no possible universe where you weren’t lying, or where you weren’t a traitor.

He approached the basement door again, this time noticing something strange.

There weren’t bullet holes in the walls when he had left.

He turned around to find a note on the table written in what could be the most disgustingly curly handwriting he’d seen. 

She’s with me. Come and get her if you want her.

“I’m sorry you had to travel all this way, Five,” the tall woman said. She seemed taller when he was in his younger body, even in his old body. But now that he’d gotten the nourishment he so desperately needed in the apocalypse, he grew (quite literally) to his full potential and towered over the woman.

“Where are they?”

“Well let’s not be too hasty, Number Five,” she said with something akin to a smirk. But it was a smile at the same time. He hated that about the Handler. She was always unpredictable. “We have a lot to talk about.”

“Like what?”

“Like you stopping the apocalypse and going against your business.”

“I saved billions of lives. You can’t blame me for wanting to do that.”

“Yet you’re hurting the one you saved?”

“They deserved it.”

“Did they? Or are you deluding yourself?”

“I’m not deluding myself; this isn’t a fantasy. They lied to me; they tried to leave-”

“Or did they? There’s proof that says otherwise, Number Five. The facts are there.”

A TV was rolled into the room along with a tape. Your face flashed onto the screen, more abused than he had left it, making his heart sink into the pit of his stomach.

He was the only one allowed to do that. And the only reason he ever thought about it was because you deserved it; you were the liar, you were the traitor.

You were hooked up to what he realized was a lie detector.

“Now, would you like to tell me the time and date?” the commission employee asked.

“I have no idea.”

The light flicked green.

“Good. You’re off to a good start.”

“Don’t patronize me.”

The agent ignored that. “You dated one Mr. Five Hargreeves of the Umbrella Academy?”

“Yes, that would be correct.”

The light turned green.

“And I see you tried to leave this man?”

You rolled your eyes; he leaned forward. 

Please say yes.

“No. I was trying to make sure his ass was alright in that weird fight he got into that day. I was scared; I loved him; I needed to make sure he was alright.”

Be red.

The light flicked green.

He fell back into his chair, holding himself together by a thread.

“Well, Five-”

“Why did you show me this? Why would you ever-”

“I thought you would appreciate the truth, Number Five. We have her right here; you’ve already given us everything we need. Hurting her was more than enough,” the woman smiled at him. He wanted to tear her mouth off of her face.

You woke up in a comfortable room, bright white lights above you.

“Don’t move, baby, you’re okay.”

Was that Five? Was that him? 

You flinched away from the voice.

“Calm down, Honey, nothing will happen to you ever again, I swear it.” So it was Five. And turns out, the whole thing wasn’t a nightmare. You felt a thumb running over the skin of your hand. You looked at it for a long while.

“Do you need anything? You’re incredibly malnourished; you’re going to need some food soon.”

“I don’t want your food,” you croaked; clearly, your voice hadn’t been used in a long time. “I want your mercy. Stop playing nice and end it. Just do it. I’m a liar. I’m a bitch. I’m a monster. Just take the final shot. Don’t draw it out; I’m done with the shit.”

His eyes widened. You didn’t know why they did. Maybe he wasn’t expecting you to ask for it so soon. Maybe he didn’t realize just how pathetic you were, how right he was in those moments.

“I’m waiting, Mr. Hargreeves. Let’s get the show on the road.”

He shook his head quickly, placing a hand on your forehead, slicking your hair back from your face. “No, Baby, I’m not going to do that. You can’t- I didn’t. You weren’t lying. And don’t you dare say those things ever again.”

“Or what?” you laughed, closing your eyes, and throwing your head back on the pillow. That was something you had missed dearly. Pillows. Too bad they were probably going to be taken from you in a matter of minutes. You had to enjoy things while they lasted, you supposed. “You’re going to hurt me? You’re going to starve me until I’m sobbing and rolling around on the ground in pain? Sorry, but I don’t think that’s anything new, buddy.”

He continued to stroke your hair back from your face, beginning to tear up slightly.

That was new.

That was fake.

This was a new game.

“No, sweetheart. You- you have no idea how sorry I am. I’m going to take care of everything from now on, okay? I promise. You’ll never be treated like that ever again, no matter what happens. I’m so so sorry. I love you. I love you. I love you so, so much.”

A while ago you would’ve died to hear those words. But at this point, you were apathetic to them.

You looked at him, then picked at your fingernails mindlessly. “That’s good for you, I suppose.”

He recoiled, but continued to pet your hair, to give you what could be seen as affection. “We’ll get there, Honey. I know it’ll be tough for a while. Now, how about some breakfast. We’ll have your favorite. How does that sound?”
