୨୧╼ It was a rarity that Violet went out. The world was a horrifying place filled with dreadful people. Yet one had to pay the bills – even if they were in hiding. Mostly she did repairs and restoration. This time she had fixed and improved a rather popular karaoke bar’s machine. When the owner of the establishment offered her a few free drinks in the VIP section for her hard work, Beatrice insisted she take them up on it. Saying that Violet spent so much of her life helping and protecting others, she forgot to do things for herself. Reluctantly she agreed, as it had been some time since she had mingled in a public place.
When people began to flood the club, Violet felt a bit overwhelmed. Especially when seemingly well-known individuals entered. Not one to keep up with popular culture, she did not recognize them. It was the reactions to their entrance that was an indicator of their popularity. It always felt so alienating to be out of the loop in an unfamiliar setting.
As the club became more boisterous – Violet needed a break. She made her way to the VIP bathroom for a break. Thankful for an area not so densely populated. A sigh left her mouth, as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. “What are you doing? You don’t belong here.” A sigh left painted lips, as she shook her head. It was then she noticed sound from the other side of the bathroom. So lost in thought and self-loathing, she didn’t realize anyone else was there. It was dangerous for her to be so neglectful of her surroundings. She had to get it together. “My apologies – I didn’t realize anyone else was here.”

୨୧╼ Memento Memori, remember you will die. The motto was etched at the entrance of Prufrock Prep. It was fitting as every day spent within the school’s walls felt like a slow demise. Daily concerts held by Vice Principal violin concerts that assaulted their senses. Count Olaf dressed up as Couch Genghis forced them to do meaningless laps all night. The fact that their Orphan status practically made them pariahs was the least of their problems.
Charlie had not been like the majority of the students. The atrocious treatment of those deemed undesirable was considered the standard. At best they were ignored and at worst they were tormented. With a life infested with unspeakable horrors, all positive experiences were cherished. “Yes, it is wonderful to see you. From appearances time has treated you well.”
Eyes cast downward as Violet bit her lip. It was a rarity that she saw someone from her past and found pleasure in it. Her gut instinct was generally to flee as quickly as possible. If approached, she would deny who she was and make her exit. Not that meeting new people was any either. She lived an isolated life, scared to get close to anyone outside her immediate family. “How have you been?” With a small smile, she tucked a strand of brown hair behind her ear.
Years could move rather quickly. Charlie had memories of many things in recent years that left impressions. The stranger and stranger still. Prufrock Prep among them. It seemed to be an endless maze of the most odd rules he had ever endured. But endured it he had. Not everyone was so lucky- there were a few that got the brunt of it. But one pair in particular had seemed to be dirt beneath the bottom of the barrel. At least as far as it went with Vice Principal Nero.
What a fuck.
But the days that went by, Charlie could remember them. Her in particular. There was something distinctly memorable about Violet. Even if they interacted in limited amounts- by no means without attempts. But that 'school' had been a cage, separating them from the things they wanted or enjoyed.
So when a familiar face appeared as he turned, the dark haired man could only look surprised. His face, usually one of neutrality, had morphed into shock.
"Oh. V-Violet? Holy...-Is that you?"
Violet, despite being a volunteer and considered a protagonist, has committed a variety of crimes. She:
Interfered with a train's destination in the film, although she would have been killed by it if she and her younger siblings did nothing.
Opened Stephano's briefcase in The Reptile Room and took his items, although her intentions were to prove her uncle's death was a murder and not a snakebite.
Stole a sailboat in The Wide Window in order to save her aunt, although she wanted to borrow it and it was owned by Count Olaf.
Hitchhiked without the driver's permission in the TV series.
Broke many rules of Prufrock Preparatory School and had Isadora Quagmire impersonate her so she could skip a S.O.R.E. meeting in order to study for a crucial exam.
Broke Rule #62 of the Village of Fowl Devotees: "No citizen is allowed to build or use any mechanical devices." - Violet secretly assisted Hector with the construction of his mobile home.
Broke rule #1,742 of the Village of Fowl Devotees: "No one is allowed to escape from jail." - Violet broke out of jail during The Vile Village, although she was wrongfully imprisoned and she would have been burned at the stake.
Hitchhiked a ride in the trunk of Olaf's car without permission to avoid asphyxiation coupled with being arrested by the police in the TV series.
Aided in burning down Caligari Carnival in order to travel with Olaf's group.
Pretended to be a staff member (a concierge) of Hotel Denouement, despite not being legally employed there.
Burnt down the Hotel Denouement (as a signal to fellow VFD members), likely killing many people inside.
Is guilty of indirect manslaughter (Count Olaf tossed a harpoon gun into her hands, which Violet accidentally slips and sets off, killing Dewey Denouement).
Partially responsible for infecting the Islanders with the Medusoid Mycelium poison and potentially killing them, as she knew it was brought to the island and kept it a secret from the Islanders.
