“Sometimes [Ringo] gets overlooked. You know, we had this little drum booth, and as I said earlier we keep changing the rhythm of the songs; we might try for hours one way and not be happy with the rhythm and so forth, and then they’d try another way. But he’d be drumming from the time that we started to routine the song, you know, for a long time! Eight hours, maybe! And the session was always over when you’d see Ringo stand up at four in the morning and put his coat on. He didn’t say anything. The others were talking or we’d just finish another take, and he’d be so tired he’d just stand up and put his coat on. And you’d know that was the end of the session.”
