Exactly!
Because I’m sick to death of anyone making Team Cap’s intention during the airport battle about anything other than Cap and company trying to get to Siberia to stop five other Winter Soldiers, here’s some dialogue from the movie for ya…
STEVE: Hear me out, Tony. That doctor, the psychiatrist, he’s behind all this.
TONY: Anyway. Ross gave me 36 hours to bring you in. That was 24 hours ago. Can you help a brother out?
STEVE: You’re after the wrong guy!
TONY: Your judgment is askew. Your old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday.
STEVE: And there are five more super soldiers just like him. I can’t let the doctor find them first, Tony. I can’t.
Then, later…
BUCKY: We gotta go. That guy is probably in Siberia by now.
STEVE: We gotta draw out the flyers. I’ll take Vision, you get to the jet.
SAM: No, *you* get to the jet! Both of you! The rest of us aren’t getting out of here.
CLINT: As much as I hate to admit it… if we’re going to win this one some of us might have to lose it.
SAM: This isn’t the real fight, Steve.
So anyone saying that Team Cap had any drive other than stopping five enhanced Hydra agents from being awakened by Zemo and wreaking havoc, or so they were led to believe, should probably get their ears checked.
Say it with me, folks. The airport battle was not about the Accords. At least not from Team Cap’s perspective.
Cutest thing ever
So I’m just going to start posting as if I was always around, in which case, I’d talk about my love of Steve/Tony. In my head (and probably in Marvel Adventures Avengers), they do things like this all the time. ‘3'
It’s amazing that some fictional characters can live their own life like that. In the hearts of real heroes. No stupid or cruel plot twists can change that.
@blessedharlot - a happy story to cheer both of us up. A young cancer patient beats his cancer using Captain America as his inspiration to never give up.
Excerpt:
Channeling his love for Captain America helped Landon conquer his toughest challenges.
THIS. So much. Thank you
Characters seen in the Captain America “trilogy”

Iron Man’s dad, again.

So, like, here’s the thing. Good people make mistakes. They get emotional and act selfishly, and that doesn’t take away from the good they’ve done. Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are both good people who’ve done bad things. Too many people in this fandom (and everywhere) refuse to see the flaws in their faves. They refuse to understand the motivations behind anybody who opposes their fave. I say “refuse” deliberately, because it requires willful ignorance to decide either of these men are bad people. Quite frankly, all that shit can stay about 7000 light years away from me. It is completely unwelcome here.
Captain America has always been about doing the right thing, even if it runs counter to orders – about standing up, even if the whole world is telling you to move. He has always been about individual responsibility and morality, not institutional obedience. That is who Captain America is.
But the Sokovia Accords wanted Cap instead to be a good little soldier. Wanted him to take orders, and not question them. Wanted him to surrender his autonomy, and be a tool, a weapon, without choice or agency or an individual moral compass.
Those pushing through the Sokovia Accords didn’t want Steve Rogers to be Captain America anymore; They wanted him to be their own personal Winter Soldier.
More terrible, deeply triggering news from Chechnya in Russia: Reports indicate that gay men are not only being abducted, but held in concentration camps, where they are being tortured and a few have been killed.
The claims follow reports last week that 100 gay men had been rounded up and imprisoned in Chechnya, with at least three people allegedly murdered. The allegations were made by a Russian newspaper and human rights campaigners. “In Chechnya, the command was given for a ‘prophylactic sweep’ and it went as far as real murders,” independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta claimed. […]
Speaking to the MailOnline, Svetlana Zakharova from the Russian LGBT network, said: “Gay people have been detained and rounded up and we are working to evacuate people from the camps and some have now left the region.
“Those who have escaped said they are detained in the same room and people are kept altogether, around 30 or 40. They are tortured with electric currents and heavily beaten, sometimes to death.”
I don’t have words. Amnesty International is circulating a petition seeking justice. Hold these people in your hearts. Truly, I’m speechless.
Decided to put this in a separate post.
Quick Breakdown:
-Alexey Navalny (main opposition leader in Russia) was poisoned with Novichok, a chemical nerve agent that is internationally outlawed.
-He nearly died, and was in a coma for a while. Then he spent a few months in a clinic in Germany recovering
-He released investigations proving that his poisoning was ordered and carried out by the Russian government (not that you would need the investigations to know that, but watch them anyway. They include a phone call to one of the agents actually involved in the poisoning. Check out the video, its called “I called my murderer and he confessed”, bc Navalny is a badass and even his Youtube video titles reflect that)
-While in Germany for treatment, the Russian gov suddenly decided they wanted to convert his old suspended prison sentence (for bogus charges, obviously) to a real one. On the LAST day of that suspended sentence. To be very clear, this suspended sentence is for a FABRICATED crime. As recognized by the European Court of Human Rights (the decisions of which Russia is supposed to abide by).
-Despite the risks, Navalny came back to Russia. He was arrested right in the airport, denied access to phone calls and his lawyer, and then put on trial the same day IN THE FUCKING POLICE STATION. His lawyer, who had been standing outside the station for hours trying to get access to him, was told about the trial a minute before it commenced. He was given a 30 day sentence (for what? who knows. just because) and is currently being held in prison. There is a very large chance that he will get his old suspended sentence turned into a real one (of 3.5 years, or 2.5 if they count out the time he spent under house arrest). Or he’ll get an even larger sentence. Or they’ll just kill him.
-After he got arrested, Navalny’s team released a new investigation they had been sitting on; one about Putin’s lavish lifestyle. In 4 days, it got 75 MILLION views. For context, the population of Russia is about 144 million.
-Navalny was briefly able to access his phone through a meeting with his lawyer and made a post, saying (with his usual dark humor) that he is not planning on hanging himself or slitting his wrists, that he walks down the stairs very carefully, and has the “blood pressure of an astronaut”. What he means is that if something happens to him in prison, it’s not suicide, or an accident, or a heart attack. Since then, his lawyer has not been able to see him, and is not even sure of his whereabouts
- This Saturday, there were protests all over Russia. People are taking to the streets, demanding that Navalny is freed. This is despite the fact that students have been threatened with expulsion if they are spotted at protests, ditto with adults losing jobs. And despite violence from Russian police/OMON officers.
I’ve only laid out the main events: theres an infinite amount of other horrific and absurd details to this story. But please take a moment to care about this.
