What's Bloodmage about? 👀👀👀
(I adore the title by the way)
Thanks for the ask! Sorry in advance for the ramble...
Oh boy, how to describe this one... (I will preface this story as insanity with plot. Most of the characters are severely brain damaged or willing to follow along with the crazies to keep them safe, and I love them all. )
An unofficial squad of soldiers and cryptids are trying to stop a vampire cult (who has infiltrated and overtaken a large world power) that plan to block out the sun and take over the world. All while a large war is happening in the background under the orcestration of the vampires. Most ordinary soldiers have no idea what is going on, and a collection of governing cryptids are trying to keep it that way.
After the squad is forcefully split up thanks to the trickery of the enemy leader, the medic of the group is in a plane crash while trying to reunite with the others. The wreck happens to land in a ritual cite put together by the vampires in an attempt to bolster their numbers with another type of volitile cryptid called bloodmages.
Caught up in the ritual, the medic is turned into a bloodmage, but he is one of the severely brain damaged characters and flasely concludes that he has been turned into a vampire. Unable to end himself with the traditional methods, he decides to find his fellow squad mates to continue their goal only to get caught up in another mess involving bloodmage politics.
Extra context: Bloodmages are beings who have been implanted with red blood crystals that are harvested from a deep pit known as the mouth of hell. After a long comatose incubation period the blood mages awake with enhanced durability/longevity and powers unique to their specific brood (powers have pretty significant variability with some potential for overlap such as the ability to make constructs, bombs, and weapons from their blood/blood they condense store up from others). Along with their other abilities, bloodmages are incredibly mentally unstable unless they have something or someone to tether them to reality. This makes them great short term soilders due to their drive for violence, but not for long term use as they tend to start attacking one another if they grow bored with easy combat.
Thanks again for the ask, I've been really bad about keeping on this one due to some hang-ups with the plot, but I love it to death :)

Warnings for: mild self harm and withdrawal.
Withdrawal
Scraping his nails against the cobblestones, 408 looked down at the pouch around his neck. The blood in his veins was like fire, burning his reason and making his will falter. He just needed to hold out for another couple of hours, just until the sun set. Looking up at the blinding light, 408 cursed the spirits, longing for time to start moving again. Illusions flickered past his vision, and spikes of pain stabbed his heart with every half breath that he took. The last thing he wanted was to go mad, but he would tow that line as closely as he needed to if it meant that he could feel something again.
The pouch around his neck weighed like lead against his skin, silently offering a cool release from the pain. He’d told himself that he would wait until this evening, but the temptation seemed to double with every second that passed. His fingers began to reach for the bag without his mind’s permission. One of the pills was pressed to his lips by the time he realized what he was doing. 408 slammed his hands to the ground more forcefully than the last time, digging his fingers further into the stone until he drew blood. He’d set out to change his fate, and he wouldn’t accomplish anything by backing down now.

We return to Luis and Jade to take a peek at an important milestone in their relationship.
Story Warning: Mentions of forced mutation, violence, and a bit of self-deprication.
When the Blood Crystal was first embedded in his heart, Luis had been filled with so many emotions that it had paralyzed him. At some point during his transformation, many of those feelings had withered into husks. The only one that he was able to maintain past the pain was an all-consuming anger. Without anything to hold him back, like all of the first Bloodmages around him, Luis channeled that anger into power, destroying anything that stood in his way.
His anger burned the brightest of them all. It burned through his entire being, leaving nothing but a monster driven by destruction.
Humming absently, Luis ran his hands through Jade's hair in a calming motion while glancing down at the strange little clock she had offered to him earlier. She had gotten the idea because of some silly little comment he had made after she pulled him back from an attack, and as embarrassing as that had been, he enjoyed the gifts.
As he was considering when to give her his gift, Jade suddenly pulled away from him, and Luis quickly untangled his fingers from her hair.
“I have something extra special for you dear.”
"Love, you already gave me a gift."
Taking a moment to reach out and gently grip Jade's hand, Luis smiled reassuringly at her. It was a big day for both of them, but her sudden outburst took him a bit by surprise.
"No, this gift is a special gift. You get too lonely while I am away, and I wish to hunt without worry."
As straightforward as ever, she would worry about a monster like him getting lonely. Jade produced a small box from somewhere in her hair and presented it to Luis with a beam of pride.
He could feel her energy pulsing from the object even through the box. Gently prying the box open revealed a set of green earrings that filled his mind with the forest as he touched them. A small chuckle escaped him as he felt the box in his own pocket grow heavy, to think she would have the same idea on their 100th anniversary.
“What am I to do with you Love?”
Nuzzling his chin affectionately, she picked up the stones and carefully put them into his ears with too much care for a creature of her power. Once she was sure they were in place, Jade pulled back beaming with excitement. Luis froze as he took in the energy. This was a part of her. They were connected in so many ways, but this one was different. He could feel her heart beating softly if he focused on the earrings.
A burst of emotion boiled over in his chest, and he leaned over, kissing her on the cheek. Now was as good a time as any to give his gift, so Luis stood to his feet and carefully presented his own gift with a sheepish grin. Despite being late to present his gift, Jade’s ears twitched with interest as he opened the box revealing a pair of blood red crystals he had spent months crafting so that they would be just right for her.
“Dear, you could have hurt yourself again!”
She held him close for a moment before pulling away to inspect him carefully. After inspecting him for any signs of injury, Jade seemed satisfied that he was okay and leaned down, letting him put the earrings in. Standing still for a moment, Jade suddenly began to purr with excitement as she felt his heartbeat.
“I will delay my hunt for the time being.”
Cooing affectionately, Jade settled back onto the couch, pulling Luis into her embrace.
She had given him hope, and Luis was finally looking forward to living out his extended life. The pain of his past was long gone now, just a fluttering memory that held little significance. Even if he had bad days, Luis had what none of his kind should have been granted, hope. Today was another gift that he didn’t deserve, but he couldn’t help but be greedy when it came to his Love.
Hi,
I made this blog to try and force myself to be more productive with my original writing/drawing. My success is unfortunately an uncontrolled variable right now.... I am a serial procrastinator and I'm pretty introverted but I'm trying.
Most of my writing tends to be a bit on the darker side and geared towards fantasy, but I dabble in various genres as ideas come to me.
Feel free to tag me in writing games and just to share something that you are proud of. :)
Note: Please let me know If I am ever coming on too strong because I can be a bit dense at times. I'm open to and encourage constructive feedback.
I also have a secondary blog for Fan fiction mostly for updates and fan art.
Side Blog for Fan Fiction
Good luck today/night and happy writing!

Groggily coming back to his senses, Owen was confronted once more with the shattering realization that his squad was still missing. At least he wasn't Impaled anymore, so small mercies. A good sleep had a hand in that he'd bet, ma always said it did. Looking out at the marred earth surrounding the crash site, Owen stared blankly at the neat piles of immaculately clean bones carefully arranged into rows in place of his fellow passengers. He'd eaten them, hadn't he?

This is for one of the stories that I am trying to pin down to paper, but it is proving quite elusive thus far... It leans more into absurdity and just makes me happy to talk about it. The problem is that it is a far cry from what I usually write, so that throws me off.
Anyway, this is for Owen the Medic as he is formally known.

Exerpt from Tori's story and part of my Bloodmage WIP. Fair warning, I was very tired when editing, so just know things might be a bit messy.
Warnings: Mentions of torture, violence, mutilation, and a monster drawing at the end of the story.
“Tori, I have something to tell you…”
Then the room lit up with red light, and Ma was ripped away from him just as the words were being spoken.Â
Checking his gun again, Tori stepped deeper into the moonlit forest grumbling. He needed to get this blasted favor over with and find where Ma had been taken to. The old man in the village seemed to know something of what was happening, but he was too frail to force information with Tori’s preferred methods, so he’d decided to play nice for now. Just deal with a blasted wolf in the woods, and he would get what he needed, simple enough.
In the short time he'd spent listening to their excuse for not dealing with the creature, Tori had noticed at least three capable people in the town and doubted that this was going to be something simple. Much to his irritation, though, he didn’t have time to employ his usual caution, or maybe the idiots had just started wearing off on him more than he’d like to admit. The thought of Owen and Embers' satisfaction of their influence left a bitter taste in his mouth. They wouldn’t need to know.Â
He wasn't a skilled or seasoned trackef but paying close attention to the paths that he’d been instructed to look out for. There were definitely tracks of something big, and in addition to paw marking, there were signs of something big being dragged through the area. Any wolf that could make tracks of that size wasn’t something he wanted to be close to, even with his gun. Frowning at the size, he contemplated turning back to try torture after all, but a growl froze him in his tracks.Â
It shouldn’t have been able to get so close to him. Turning slowly, Tori scowled at the creature looming several feet away from him. Its matted fur was covered in bits of half chewed flesh and fur that dangled from the unkempt locks of blood-stained gray-brown hair. Tori didn't fail to notice that where hind legs should have been, there was a large snake tail that flicked back and forth in irritation as it held a small squirming bug in one clawed hand.Â
Tori’s breath caught in his throat as he began cursing internally, how was that a blasted wolf? A vein in his forehead throbbed as the creature swallowed the bug and turned its attention towards him. By its smug expression, Tori was sure it felt that he would be a quick meal, but it was in for a rude awakening if it thought that He’d go down without a fight.Â
Raising his gun level with the thing’s head, tori fired off 2 rounds in quick succession altering his fire for the second shot towards the direction that the beast seemed more likely to move. The first round grazed its ear, but as planned the second landed squarely in the things right eye as it lunged towards him.Â
Jumping to the side, Tori fired off another set of rounds hitting the creature in the side, but still it didn’t even flinch, turning its trajectory to grab onto Tori’s shoulder digging its teeth through the layers of protective clothing like they were nothing. Letting out a grunt of pain, Tori quickly reached to his belt and pulled a knife free stabbing it into the creature’s throat over and over as it sank its teeth deeper, snapping his collar bone like a rotten twig. Letting out a scream of pain he felt his mind flash with white for a minute before pulling his knife free and driving it into the creature’s left eye. After a scream of confusion, the creature pulled back with a roar of pain and quickly retreated several feet, slower than the last time.Â
“Do you think I’m going to let you get away with ruining the coat she gave me?”
The hatred in his voice might have surprised him if the situation didn’t tick him off beyond reason. Tori’s blood began to pump more rapidly than before as he let the gun fall from his right hand. This creature didn’t seem very affected by bullets but his knife did the trick. His right arm was useless right now, but the creature was partially blind.Â
Without giving it time to recover further, Tori rushed the creature driving his blade into its throat as he let a claw graze the side of his head. That was okay, he could work with a bit more head trauma. His blade struck true, severing the creature's artery. This time as he pulled away the creature tried to bolt away from him, but the frustrated man jumped onto its back and quickly stabbed his knife into the creature’s throat again and again.Â
The motion continued until the creature’s cries of pain were drowned out by his own frustrated screams. What the hells had she wanted to say to him blast it? Tori let his arms go limp as he looked down at the bloodied creature below him. With the excitement of the battle dying down he felt his stomach beginning to twist in pain as a sudden hunger overtook him. The disgusting creature, mutilated beyond recognition looked almost as appetizing as Ma’s cooking, and like a man possessed Tori leaned down devouring its corpse as the full moon shown above him, bathing the forest in red light.Â
I was playing around with ink today, and other than some frustrations involving uncooperative ink, it was pretty fun.
Thanks for the prompt @flashfictionfridayofficial !

Cells danced across the lit slide, quickly overtaking the benign tissue and effortlessly mutating the sample. Carl attempted to focus in on the process for any notable variation in its pattern, but after sixteen hours, his dancing vision was persistant enough that he probably wouldn’t catch anything of note even if it bit his face anyway.Â
“Sleep, or I’m gonna break that piece of junk.” Pulling away instinctivly, Carl clutched his microscope protectively.Â
“Touch it and we all go up in smoke.” His baby-sitter shrugged and picked up the pile of papers that he’d haphazardly arranged for collection. These brutes had their uses but they were far too blunt for his purpouses most days.Â
“See anything interesting today?” He shrugged.
“Nothing significant, the infection has been resistant to everything I’ve thrown at it.” Feeling less insecure about the safety of his equipment, Carl leaned back a bit in his chair and raised his coffee to take a drink before he caught sight of something floating along the surface. Pulling it away from his mouth, he set the ceramic mug onto the table and eyed the strange insect floating belly up on the surface. It was obviously infected, nothing that would cause significant damage by itself, but how had a dead infected bug gotten in his cup?Â
“You okay?” Carl’s guard was already by his side, checking him for any signs of injury. He knew he wasn’t turning, He’d run enough test to know what turning felt like, at least what people documented it feeling like. Pushing past her, he grabbed a pair of forceps from a loose pile of tools and picked up the bug quickly dragging it over to his work station. Despite his earlier exhaustion a sence of urgency had driven the sleep from his eyes. Quickly preparing a tray, he slid the pieces into place and engaged the magnification.Â
Silence settled over the room as he watched the aggressive cells shrivel up and flake apart when contacting the coffee residue. After all this time… Shaking his head, Carl pulled away to grab another sample, he’d have to isolate the cause, figure out what exactly was triggering the reaction. His fingers shook with excitement forcing him to slow down his work for the sake of accuracy. Every moment crawled by in agonizing silence, but If he was right… humanity could finally be saved.Â

Warnings: mild body horror, altered mental states, mild nudity (nothing too explicit, but I figured I should mention it)
Wren watched in quiet longing as the carriage grew smaller in the half light until it was nothing but a dull glimmer in the distance. They’d rejected her again. She’d been so good too, doing all of the chores and following every rule down to the letter, but it wasn’t enough.
Looking down at her ruined dress, it felt foolish to have hoped things would end differently this time. If she had just stayed quiet then perhaps her sister’s dress could have at least been spared, but this of all event had just been too tempting to not at least ask. Was it so bad for her to have fun sometimes? She had proven that she could behave, and it wasn’t like she wanted to see a stupid prince anyway. Watching the glittering stones dance across people’s throats was all the entertainment she’d need for at least three months, and maybe if she was lucky someone might lose a sliver that she could find, and add to her meager collection.Â
Pulling out her string and needles, Wren picked up the nearest torn shirt and began to mend the shoulder. Her family wouldn’t be back until morning, so there wouldn’t be any music to spy tonight. As she tried to focus on the work in front of her, the silence grew to a suffocating pitch. Moonlight washed over her, bringing with it the glint of something shiny in the distance.Â
A plume of feathers burst from her skin and colors began to shift as a thick film slid over her eyes. Her ears twitched as an obsession began brewing in her mind. Since her collection had been plundered months ago, the scraps she’d managed to gather were less than spectacular. She could finish up her mending, but working distracted was a fool's errand and it wasn’t like mother expected her to finish the work this evening.Â
Pulling out some extra clothes that she had held back from the last batch of mending, Wren packed away the unfinished pieces before her wings burst through the torn back of her dress, scattering the old silk across the attic. Feathers ruffling in anticipation, Wren flung open the window. Gripping the frame, her fingers twisted into talons as she took in a deep breath free from restraint.
Jumping from her window, Wren dropped down the side of the moat before allowing her wings to unfurl and lift her soaring into the air. Her flight feathers hadn’t completely recovered from the last pruning, but she’d been careful to avoid flying around her step sisters anymore, so they were starting to forget again.Â
Wren let out shrieks of excitement as the world flew past her in a blur of dazzling color, lit by the moonlight overhead. Catching a draft of air, Wren rose higher into the air, allowing moonlight to bathe her before plunging down to land on her prize. Tackling the lone figure she pinned its limbs with her talons and plucked a pretty stone from its throat. Examining it closely she gave a trill of excitement before pulling away.
“Pretty! Can I trade you for it?”
Not one to completely forget her manors too easily, Wren pulled one of her finest feathers out, presenting it to the stranger who was now sitting on the ground, stunned.Â
“Sure?”
Quickly gripping her prize, Wren handed over payment and perched on the edge of the water enamored by the strange stone she’d bartered for. It wasn’t that she was surprised by her triumph, her negotiations were impeccable. It was more that she had only parted with one of her shining feathers, when she had been prepared to go up to three. It made the trade even more thrilling.Â
“Take good care of it, I spent many hours caring for that one, It’s good luck you know?”
Wren soon found that her upselling wasn't necessary, as her trade partner, a man in leather armor, seemed just as enamored with her feather as she was with her stone. On closer inspection, he seemed to have some strange weapons at his side. Was he some type of hunter perhaps?Â
Remembering her sister’s warnings of such folk, Wren remained calm, giving the man a friendly wave before taking off into the sky. She didn’t bother to look back, knowing that even if he could draw his bow in time, she’d be well out of range before he could notch an arrow. If he had tried to strike earlier, her talons would have made quick work of him, and then she could have her stone, feather, and a meal. While her mouth started to water at the thought of a snack, her step mother would definitely know she’d fed. Wren shuddered at the possibility of losing her flight feathers again and quickly returned as the moon was setting, determined that this little distraction wouldn’t upset things too much.Â
A cruel punishment to set an example.
The dead companion had laid at its master's feet as loyal as it had been in life. No power had been enough to stop that. Desperation and isolation drove the master to make this creature from the body of a dead companion.
Night Hounds appear as tall, emaciated hounds that appear normal up until the joint between the neck and head where the head has been severed. Two tubes connect a skinless substitute head to the body. Hard to kill and exilent guard dogs, the hounds are also extremely loyal, and once choosing a master will stay with them until death.
If the bond is close enough, then the soul of their chosen master can animate and linger with them as they pass into the afterlife.
I'm trying to get a bit more confident in my work. Organized and unorganized snippets of stories and drawings.
